Summertime brings out the life in me.
I seriously feel like I come to life when the days get longer and the evenings warmer. I crave cool foods and appetizers like nobodies business and the creamier the better! When I was at Walmart last week I saw their fresh bread and Hunt’s canned tomatoes and I immediately thought of this awesome spread which is one of my new favorite summer recipes!
This recipe is very easy to make but tastes like you spent hours in the kitchen making it.
I had some friends stop by for an impromptu play date and I had this ready and out with some cool drinks within 10 minutes. The most time-consuming {if you can even call it that} was broiling the bread! The spread itself only gets better the longer the flavors blend. If you have time to let the flavors develop in the refrigerator for a few hours go for it… but it still tastes served right away.
I think the tomatoes are the reason that it tastes so great both ways.
I use Hunt’s canned tomatoes because they have full flavor due to their unique flash steam peeling method.
- 1/2 Can Of Hunt’s Canned Tomatoes, Drained
- 1 Block Of Cream Cheese
- 1 Tablespoons of Basil {save some for garnish}
- 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
- 1/4 Teaspoon Garlic
- Loaf Of Your Favorite Bread
- 2 Tablespoons of Butter
- 1/2 Teaspoons of Garlic, Minced or Granulated
- Combine all ingredients until smooth.
- Refrigerate 2+ hours {if there is time}.
- Slice Bread
- Mix Melted Butter and Garlic
- Spread On Sliced Bread
- Broil Till Slightly Brown
- Spread Topping On Toast And Garnish With Basil.
