Pete grew up in Pennsylvania and I was always jealous when he would tell me about this restaurant called Cracker Barrel that he had been going to for years when he was younger.
He knows that comfort food is my favorite type of food. Mac ‘c cheese and mashed potatoes are my love language. Seriously when I was pregnant and nothing sounded good, those were always a safe bet.
Fast forward a couple of years after we are married and we traveled to Pennsylvania. First stop… Cracker Barrel! And it’s now a tradition! Whenever we are near a Cracker Barrel, we make a stop there first.
This past month we went out to Arizona for a quick getaway and we were all really excited to see that there was one there too! This was Ashley and Emmy’s first time there… they loved it!
Cracker Barrel is more than just a restaurant. It’s an experience. Cracker Barrel’s Retail Store is one of our favorite parts. They have really unique products like toys, home decor items, clothes and more. Emmy took home a stuffed animal to remember our visit and I bought a baby shower gift! You never know what you will find!
There are also rocking chairs to sit in and games to play as you wait for your table and food.
The food! It’s delicious and so filling.
If you love breakfast you have to have breakfast here. They have a hash brown casserole that is out of this world good and so cheesy. I think it’s my favorite item on the menu! Pete and the girls always order the pancakes. I never do because they are HUGE and even though they all think they can finish them, they can’t… and I swoop in to save the day and eat what is left!
You can tell that all the food is made fresh. And everyone who works at the ones we have been to have been so friendly and welcoming. You feel like you are eating at a good friends house every time you visit!
If you haven’t been to a Cracker Barrel in awhile you need to head back in and try all the yummy food they are cooking up!
We love Crackle Barrel! It reminds me of a slower/nicer time in life. We need to bring some of that back. My mom LOVES shopping there while we wait for the food.
I love the Cracker Barrel. They have fried chicken on Sundays and that’s my favorite day of the week to go there.
We love Cracker Barrel here too! My favorite is definitely their hash brown casserole, but their turkey sausage and fried shrimp are yummy too.
Cracker Barrel is the bizomb, and they’re all over the place down here in the south. I’m in Heaven!
My sis and I visited Cracker Barrel in Ft Meyers FL. Macaroni and cheese is a favorite for me. It looks like I’ll have to plan on visiting the one in Boise ID, as there isn’t one around the Reno NV or Sacramento CA area.
Cracker Barrel is the most delicious restaurant in the known universe. My husband and I stop there whenever we’re on the road.
Cracker Barrel is all over the place down here in the south. My family makes FULL use of that. LOL
I would love to visit there and eat their yummy food! Looks like you all had a really pleasant time!
I have only dined there one time. It was good.

We love Cracker Barrel. Especially their breakfast dishes!
I love Cracker Barrel! I’ve not eaten their in at least 2 years. I love the little shop and I love their breakfast and I love their dumplings!
I haven’t been to Cracker Barrel in a while. They do have good meals there though. The food in the pics looks so good.
I’ve always liked their breakfast and the fact that you can eat breakfast any time of the day or night. It’s a great place to stop, eat, rock and shop when traveling.
I haven’t eaten at Cracker Barrel in a while. I love the food so it is time for me to go back.
I’ve never been to Cracker Barrel, but I’ve heard such great things about the food and the experience. I would love to go sometime!
I love the country feel of Cracker Barrel. They have the best biscuits and jelly ever!
We always stop at Cracker Barrel when we go on road trips. I always get breakfast even at night.
What a nice place to stop for a family meal. My kids always liked exploring the shop before meals were served.
Truth – I love Cracker Barrel. Waiting for a table and shopping has always been a favorite, the games at the tables and the home southern sides are killer. Great… now I have to go this weekend to get a fix! 🙂
Can you believe I’ve never been to a Crackle Barrel! I would love to go one day. I’ve heard so many good thing about them but there has never been one where I live.
I have not eaten at Cracker Barrel in YEARS! My so is 14 and he has never eaten there! I guess it is time to go!
Looks like you had a wonderful time. I haven’t tried eating there, but the food looks so delicious.
Love that restaurant. Always great food.
Cracker Barrel is one of our favorite restaurants too. Love all the pictures!
Our town just got a Cracker Barrel restaurant! We have already eaten there three times!
I love love love Cracker Barrel so much! I love that they serve breakfast all day.
I was born and raised in the south with awesome southern food but I love me some Cracker Barrel every now and then!
I wish they had a Cracker Barrel Restaurant closer to where we live. I keep hearing how yummy their menu options are.
My brother always talks about Cracker Barrel! I can’t believe I’ve never been there!
You can’t beat the Cracker Barrel. It’s a fun stop on any road trip!
I love Cracker Barrel. Not only is their food fabulous, but they have really cute things in their shop.
This looks like a fun way to spend time together. I love to snack on cheese and crackers dipped in fancy molasses.
I have heard so many great reviews for Cracker Barrel. I will have to see if there is a location near me.
I’ve never eaten at Cracker Barrel before but all that food looks delicious! I’m all about the comfort food, too. I’m not sure if there are any locations in Southern California, but I’m totally going to look into it the next time I’m out of state 🙂
Sadly we don’t have Cracker Barrel here in France but looking at your pictures makes me wish we had.
I love that comfort food is such a broad and inclusive term! My comfort food goes back to my youth – pitas with chicken and olives!
I haven’t been to the place. By looking at your pictures and reading your blog post, I can gauge that you and your family enjoy Cracker Barrel restaurant. Thanks for sharing!
We have a Cracker Barrel just up the road about 15 minutes and I can NOT get enough of the fun shop there! I have found some of the cutest home decor there. My daughter found a soft baby doll that she just fell in love with, I couldn’t say no! And the food? Oh man, I think we need to go back SOON!
We love Cracker Barrel, and thankfully live in a town that has one. Only one in our state and we claim it:) My favorite meal is the french toast… delicious!
They have such great food. We enjoying going there to eat with our family.
I love Cracker Barrel. I haven’t been in a while but the food there is so good! I love a good meal at Cracker Barrel.
Wow! Those dishes are amazing! No wonder your family had a fantastic time there! I would equate Cracker Barrel to our Black Bear Diner. Their servings and tasty meals are so good!
this is our favorite travel stop as well! We don’t have a cracker barrel near us
I wish we had Cracker Barrel in California – I miss that place so much!
Cracker Barrel is one of my all time favorite places to eat. We don’t have one near us but every time we go out of town we find one.
We love Cracker Barrel. The best part is always that their service is impeccable. We’ve never had a bad server or bad service.
I’ve never eaten at Cracker Barrel before and I know for a fact there are none anywhere near us, I guess I will have to keep an eye out for one whenever I’m traveling! As for comfort food oddy it’s seafood because I eat seaside while on vacation, and nothing brings me ‘inner peace’ more than vacation so I associate the foods at my happiest places (lobster, scallops, oysters) with ‘comfort’.
Ha! I love that you got a family picture on those rockers. We like Cracker Barrel here too.
