Making sure that your mornings go smoothly sets the whole day up for success and happiness. Ikea totally gets how important this is and has solutions to make mornings better. I’m so excited to be partnering with them for this sponsored post that offers solutions to make that first 59 minutes of our mornings better.
The first hour of your day can be challenging, hectic and stressful.
Our biggest issue is finding clothes to wear in the morning. Or should I say clothes she wants to wear. She is a very independent 4 year old and she insists on choosing her own clothes. I shared our morning challenges and how we were going to find some solutions and we did with IKEA’s help!
IKEA wants to help people better their mornings by offering resources to streamline and maximize those first 59 minutes after the alarm rings and that’s why they came up with the “First :59” program. It’s full of solutions to make our mornings much better!
Remember our normal morning scramble which left Little Ones clothes looking like this?
Talk about a bad way to start our day! With this in mind we set off to go to IKEA for a solution. Our trip into the store turned into more of an adventure that night actually. It was almost 2 weeks ago and the girls are all still talking about it. We went into the store and left bright {and hot} skies behind. Within about a half an hour a thunderstorm rolled in and the parking lot was flooding and there was lightening hitting trees outside. For us in San Diego this was real weather, and rain we hadn’t seen all year! We decided to wait it out in the restaurant area and we had a great meal and tons of fun!
Before all the excitement in the food area, we found just what we were looking for.
There were so many things to buy that would would help us have a better First 59 and set our day off on the right foot. They were all reasonably priced too… we ended up buying the SKUBB, organizer with 6 compartments. It was only $6.99 and exactly what we needed! I was so excited to get it home and put it into action!
Little One took no time at all helping me get it all set up.
All I had to do is take it out of the package and attach the two Velcro straps to her closet rack. Took maybe 30 seconds and we were good to go! After that The Little One picked out her outfits for the week and we put them in each slot.
Every morning since then she has just grabbed the clothes for that day and we were done. You can even see her bead again because she hasn’t thrown her clothes all over it. This has made mornings so much better!
Here are my top three tips for better mornings:
- Plan ahead. Identify your biggest morning issues and take care of them ahead of time like we did the clothes situation.
- Wake up earlier. Give yourself 15 extra minutes in the morning to wake up without feeling rushed.
- Start the day with a big glass of water. It’s common to wake up dehydrated and sluggish. Water helps you hydrate and be your best.
Be sure to visit the IKEA First:59 website for even more morning solutions.
As long as I lay out the kids clothes and make lunches the night before, we are in great shape in the mornings.
We do that at our house, but somehow mornings still seem to be a madhouse. Some days, I really wish kids could drink coffee…
Morning craziness is so stressful. Being prepares is the key. Great tips.
The mornings are crazy around here. We need to be better organized. We make our son’s lunch the night before and that helps…. but lol, we definitely need to get more organized.
IKEA helps get my morning started every day with their sink-side toiletries organizer. I used to have to fumble for my toothpaste and brush in the morning but I am much less grumpy with the extra organization!
What a great idea. We always manage to be late because we have a last min stain or mind change.
Water always helps me get going too. You’re right about that! The organizer would be great for prepping clothes for the next day.
I love IKEA! And I love the clothes storage. I would use that to help plan out the kid’s school clothes for the week. Every laundry day have them put which outfit they want to wear for each day of school into the right “BIN”. Then it is all planned out. Yeah. Time saver!
I used an organizer like that for years with my older kids. They got to pick their outfits for the week and I never had to stress about that in the morning. My kids now have to wear uniforms so it isn’t as difficult.
These are all great tips. I always try to give myself extra time in the morning by have my outfit picked out the night before.
I love IKEA. I’m also up for anything that makes my mornings easier.
I use one of those organizers, too. They make our mornings a lot less rushed.
I have never been to an IKEA, but this is a great post. I love the options for organization and keeping things happy and fun. Love this.
I’m so happy that Jake is old enough to handle mornings by himself. I”m less than enthusiastic in the mornings, lol.
I love this post. My hardest part of the day is getting the kiddos up and out, getting prepared seems to be the key, and Ikea is one of my absolute favorite home stores!!
They just opened an Ikea in my area. I can’t wait to check it out.
I love Ikea so much! They have the storage solution to pretty much everything.
Wow, a thunderstorm in San Diego—you almost never hear of that!
I wake up an hour earlier than everyone else–I feel rushed otherwise!
What great tips! All of which I need to make my mornings better!
I’m an organization freak but can’t get the rest of the team to get on board, but clothes in advance and lunches complete helps a lot.
My kids had those tall hanging organizers when they were younger and in school. The only difference is they had the days of the week listed per section. It helped quite a bit in getting them prepared for school the night before.
I think giving yourself an added 15 minutes early on can really reduce the morning rush. Having your stuff organized also helps.
My alarm is for 15 minutes before I get out of bed. 🙂 I still wake up, but I don’t roll out of bed immediately and it definitely helps me to not feel like I’m jumping out of bed and starting the run around.
Great suggestion to drink a big glass of water first thing in the morning. I need to start doing that before drinking the big cup of coffee.
These are all great tips. Mornings in my house are a whirlwind of rumpled clothes and yelling at the kids to hurry up. I’m definitely going to be trying these out.
IKEA is a great place to shop and get organized. To make mornings easier I make my kids get their clothes and bookbags ready the night before so that we are not running around like chickens with our heads cut off looking for stuff. LOL
My sister has two kids, and her mornings are CRAZY. I’m going to send her this link. She NEEDS it.
I love IKEA. Their closet solutions are amongst the best and most affordable around!
Our biggest thing used to be getting dressed. I think my oldest would go back to sleep in the shower. Luckily he grew out of that.
Mornings used to be crazy at our house. Luckily, we found a system that worked for us. With four kids, we kind of had to!
Thanks for the great tips. It can be difficult to tame the mornings with a house full of kids.
getting my son up and off to school is like moving a mountain. he will shower and then so back to bed. Lol. I am like a drill sargeant in the mornings
Mornings can be rough when you have kids. These are great tips to help ease some of the frustration. Thanks!
I love IKEA. They have everything there. I really love those closet storage solutions.
Great tips. I have a few bottles of water by my bed to hydrate in the morning. I really like the idea of picking clothes out for the week. Our easiest week was one with a color of clothing planned out.
I could definitely use more organization!
I love Ikea! I have several of those around my house. They make a good junk food storage in my pantry, holds over 10 pairs of shoe’s, hold my winter and fall accessories as well. Thanks for the great tips to make morning’s easier. I don’t have any small children but when the grandkid’s come over; I’ll put this to use.
Great idea and I really love Ikea . I try to get everything ready the night before but morning are always crazy in our house.
I heard over the radio the DJ said that it would be best to face a mirror and smile just when you wake up in the morning. It will help boost a positive attitude throughout the day. I also do wake up earlier than my alarm clock. Probably my body is sensing the time automatically! I plan the day before so I am always ahead of things. I also start the day with a glass of water and some exercise to boot.
My girls used to pick out their clothes for the week and lay them all out ahead of time. That made mornings so much easier since everything was already together and ready to go.
Good ideas. Love the closet.
i have that for my daughter too! i put all her pyajamas there and some other home clothes. and the rest are all hanging in her cabinet
I could wander IKEA for days and find so much cool stuff! Morning, noon and nights would all be better! 🙂
This is SO cute! We kinda have a system but slightly different.:)
When it’s just me and the little ones, mornings are manageable and not too chaotic. We have a system and a routine. When Daddy gets up with us though, all routine is out the window and it’s crazy and hectic and overwhelming. lol. I always start my morning with a glass of water!
Ikea is the best for finding good organizing solutions! Love your system for finding things!
I need to try the big glass of water. That is something I do not do and I probably should!
Easy, practical, inexpensive and useful too. This is my kind of idea!
We have organizers like this and it does make it easier. Before we moved I use to have the kids plan out their clothes for the whole school week with one or two outfits off to the side in case it was either too hot or too cold for what they were planning. That’s my biggest tip is to have them bring you their outfits for the next day the night before.
I get so many storage solution ideas at IKEA. I just love it there
Great tips! I think my closet would be more useful if it was a little more well organized.
mornings are crazy at my house, picking out clothes the ahead of time always helps us.
These are great tips for in the morning. I love the storage Skubbs I could use a couple of them for my closet. Thanks for sharing.
