This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hear the World. All opinions are 100% mine.
Did you know that hearing loss affects 15% of the world’s population yet it receives little recognition or acknowledgement? Nearly half the cases are preventable too which makes raising awareness so very important!
I’ve been learning about hearing loss and I was shocked that about 660,000 children are born annually with significant hearing loss. That is a lot of the worlds children. Hear the World promotes projects that support children with hearing loss, to enable them to develop at an appropriate rate for their age and to give access to school education.
Hear the World Foundation envisions a world in which everyone has the opportunity to experience good hearing… which is a cause that I totally support too!
To help increase awareness for the importance of good hearing, Hear the World Foundation relies on its ambassadors who appear in an annual calendar photographed by globally recognized musician and photographer, Bryan Adams. The celebrity ambassadors are photographed in the Hear the World “pose” synonymous with conscious hearing.
To show my support I too took a photo in the Hear the World pose and I shared it.
To show your support, and to help raise awareness you can take your own Hear the World photo and post it using the #HearTheWorld hashtag. Select shared photos may be used in education video to be released by Hear the World too!
You will also be entered to win the calendar giveaway when you share your photo.
Whether you are a winner or not you can also purchase the calendar and 100% of proceeds from calendar sales go to the Hear the World Foundation
After you share your photo be sure to leave me a link in the comments!
My sister is deaf in one ear actually. She wasn’t born that way, but ended up like that after many surgeries to repair one thing or another after ear infection damage.
One of my nephews was born deaf and it’s been a big struggle for him. I’m so glad some awareness is being raised, this is great!
My ex had some major hearing problems that got worse as time went by, but he wasn’t quite deaf. I think it would be great if more high schools taught a sign language class that could be taken as a foreign language requirement.
That would be great, wouldn’t it? I was recently reading that Deaf children of hearing parents rarely know how to sign!
That would be such a great thing if they did teach sign language in school!
Hearing loss is one of those things that gets overlooked, but it’s a really important thing. Hearing loss has been linked to depression and alienation.
I hadn’t heard of Hear the World before, thank you for posting about it. It’s the kind of organization I’d enjoy supporting!
My son has auditory neuropathy with a moderately severe hearing impairment. Congrats on raising awareness and supporting such a great cause!
My dad had hearing loss from working in a factory. I had no clue that it was so common!
I went to high school with someone who was hearing impaired and it was always rough for her. I am glad that this is spreading awareness.
I used to work with a lovely lady who suffered with her hearing. Its one of those things we do seem to take for granted. x
Hey I can strike a pose to help people, this is awe inspiring, and a great time to promote this., since lots of people take photos
660,000 children with hearing issues? Wow! I had NO idea!
What an awesome and easy way to help spread the word about a very important issue
I think more and more kids are going to have hearing problems as they grow up with earbuds in their ears for long periods of time. Thanks for raising awareness of such an important subject.
It is great that you are helping to bring awareness to such an important cause. I will be sure to take a picture and share it.
I don’t know anyone with hearing loss. But I am glad people are raising awareness. It can happen to anyone so protecting your hearing is a must.
YES, my husband suffers from some hearing loss in one of his ears. He had an infection as a child that went untreated for the longest time.
What a great cause! I think this is something people forget about!
Thank you for raising awareness. I can’t imagine going through life with little to no hearing. 660k is a LOT of kids.
This is one cause that you don’t hear about alot. It is great to see awareness being brought to it
This is such a great cause. I have a few family members who have experienced major hearing loss. It’s difficult. You don’t realize how much you rely on your hearing until you begin to lose it.
This is a great awareness campaign. I’ll take a photo and join. 🙂
What a great campaign. My sister has some hearing loss and it really bothers her, she is so young!
My father in law is very hard of hearing. He finally got hearing aids a few months ago after saying no for many years. Its changed his world, and ours.
Thanks for sharing this very important campaign. I do not personally know anyone with hearing loss, but I am glad to see there is awareness for this issue.
I’m actually hearing impaired, though most people don’t realize it. My son, my sister, and her three children are as well. My nieces and nephew use hearing aides. I’ve been able to squeak by without them.
I love causes like this one. I am definitvely lending a hand and an ear for it
This is a great campaign for a great cause. I think the loss of hearing is something that a lot of people don’t really think about often and try to raise awareness. Too many people put it on the back burner.
This is such a great campaign, everyone deserves to be able to hear the best they can!
My daughter was born with a hearing loss. Her loss wasn’t caused by a genetic problem, I had her tested to see if any of my other kids would have it too. Plus, it was part of the work up required to get her cochlear implant. She now has two cochlear implants and does an amazing job. You can find her story on my blog too.
I have a friend that has hearing loss. It is amazing how tiny the hearing aides are now.
I have a lot of family members and friends that are deaf or have profound hearing loss. It’s great that awareness is being raised for this.
What a great campaign. I had no idea 15% suffered-
So many suffer from this. Wonderful campaign.
Fantastic campaign. I am planning on taking a selfie for it and will share with a #
As my dad has gotten older he has been diagnosed with not being able to hear out of one ear. We kinda joke around about it (even he does) but it would be hard if you couldn’t hear very well in the world we live in today. This is a great way to bring awareness!
I think this is a great campaign and I am glad that awareness is being brought to this medical condition. I worked with the hearing impaired for years and they need all the support they can get.
This is a great event to relay with the public. My son has a speech delay but no hearing concerns. However many of the children in speech programs have hearing issues so this is an issue close to my heart. I’ll be back to share my heart.
That’s Bryan Adams! I haven’t heard anything from/about him in awhile! Glad to read he’s involved with this… hearing is something we def. want to be able to take for granted.
My FIL definitely has some substantial hearing loss and I’ve even noticed my husband is starting to have a little bit too.
My best friend is a sign language interpreter. What an awesome campaign!
Protecting your hearing is very important. People don’t think about it until they have hearing loss.
This is a great cause to raise awareness for! Thank you for spreading the word.
I saw your photo on instagram! What a great cause this is too!
I have a client who’s getting a cutting-edge procedure to get her hearing back 🙂
What a great foundation. It was not until I had my youngest son that they started doing routine ear testing at birth. It is amazing how many people are affected by hearing loss.
Nice to hear that the sales from the calendar is helping such a good cause!
I know so many family member affected. This is a great campaign to raise awareness
I never thought much about hearing loss, except I feel like a lot of the kids will be subject to it, using those headphones. It’s a great and relevant cause for a lot of us.
This is such a great cause. Good hearing is not something you actually hear about often yet it is so common. One person mention teaching ASL in school, I think that would be a great idea!
My dad has suffered some hearing loss too. I had no idea that so many children did though!
