I’m so excited to share more about Invisalign! Not only am I receiving treatment to straighten my teeth as an Invisalign Spokesperson, but Ashley is too! Now I am not just speaking as someone receiving treatment myself, I am also a member of the Invisalign Teen Mom Advisory Board. My daughter has received complimentary treatment, (as have I) from the makers of Invisalign clear aligners, but all opinions expressed are my own.
It’s been a few months since I started Invisalign treatment, and I am already seeing results. Maddie has traditional metal braces, but we hadn’t started teeth straightening for Ashley yet because we were waiting for her to get the rest of her adult teeth. Both she and Maddie were late getting teeth, which totally worked in her favor. We had figured that she would get braces too… and then I got Invisalign, and I learned that they have a program just for teens. I knew Invisalign was the right option for Ashley.
There were a few concerns that I had before we made the final decision to start her in Invisalign treatment that I think most parents would have. Mainly… does it work, what happens if she loses an aligner, and how will I know if she is wearing them enough?
I wasn’t worried too much about her wearing them enough as I was about her losing aligners. She is really responsible, and like her dad, a creature of habit. Once she starts something, she is really good with follow through. But, I also remember being a teen, and having a retainer after I had braces. I remember almost losing it weekly. I myself, was stressed out about this, and I can only imagine how frustrating it was for my parents.
When I spoke to our orthodontist about Invisalign he set my mind at ease. With Invisalign Teen, your treatment plan cost includes 6 replacement aligners. It’s a huge relief that if her aligners get misplaced, she can have 6 of them replaced at no additional cost. And although I’m not worried about Ashley wearing her aligners enough, there are built in blue indicators that fade with wear so the Orthodontist can know for sure they are being worn enough. When I first started my Invisalign treatment I forgot to put them back in right after I was done eating, so I figured Ashley would be the same time until it became a habit. I was totally wrong. Right from the start, she has been wearing them exactly as recommended, and she hasn’t forgotten to put them back in…not even once.
I asked Ashley what she likes most about Invisalign, and she said that being able to eat anything she wanted, and being able to wear them during her workouts without worrying about braces getting in the way were the big ones. Her dentist was happy too because it will be easier to take care of her teeth. With braces you simply can’t floss as easily.
Another benefit for us is that there are fewer office visits.
Since we travel so often, and Ashley is busy with her workouts, we don’t have to add more to her schedule compared to what is required with braces. At each appointment, she is sent home with a few aligners and switches them herself which we can do wherever we are in the world.
I also really love that we are doing this together. Practically speaking, it makes sense since I will be going with her to appointments anyways to have my teeth straightened at the same time. Personally it’s been fun turning those orthodontist visits into little mom and daughter dates. After we get our teeth checked, we normally go out to lunch. We also have both been comparing our teeth’s progress and notes on taking care of our teeth and our aligners. I know that there are a lot of other parents out there like myself that have had our teeth move after having braces, and getting Invisalign together has been a really great for us.

We are just a couple months into Invisalign Teen for Ashley and we are so excited to see her smile improve with each new aligner!
That is such a great project. I have a friend who just started using them a few weeks ago, He’s so excited. Enjoy your journey.
I have considered this, but it seemed kind of complicated for me.
My child needs this but needs to loose baby teeth firts.
I loved my invisilign! congrats on your and DON’T throw away your retainers. They come in handy later.
I absolutely want to get my teeth done, they are not straight and it makes me self-conscious sometimes. I had braces when I was a lot younger but I was rubbish with the retainers and gradually my teeth were back to its former state within the space of six months.
How exciting is that! I am so interested in this type of treatment, I always wanted to correct my lower teeth. Thanks for sharing more information on this.
My kids are too young to know if they will need braces or not, but if they do, I am totally going with Invisalign.
Sounds great! My son need this. Glad you shared about it.
Sounds like an amazing alternative! Wish i had that opportunity years ago
I had the typical metal braces as a middle schooler. I wish I could of have something like this. Hopefully my kids can if they need it.
I wish Invisalign had been around when I was a kid. I knew so many kids who got picked on for having braces.
I wish I could have had Invisalign when I was a teen!! They look so much better than the metal braces!
This sounds like a great alternative for the young ones! Kids can be really mean with people with braces but not anymore!
I can see how Invisalign would be perfect for all of the traveling. Being able to floss more easily is a big plus too!
My daughter wants Invisalign. They look better that braces and I was wondering about the up keep glad I read your blog post.
I need to tell my daughter about this because my grand son is going to have to have braces otherwise. I’ll send her your link so she can check it out.
I wish Invisalign would have been an option when my son needed braces. He would have loved the invisable aspect.
My boyfriend has been contemplating getting braces lately and this would perfect for him. I love that it’s a way to get some help without having to wear all that metal in your mouth.
I wore standard braces for years as a tween/teen and would have loved a more discreet solution like Invisalign. Those built in wear indicators are great peace of mind too!
I think it is awesome that they have invisible braces now! My niece has them, and you don’t even notice it.
How I wish that was available here. My sister badly needs it. She is gorgeous but her front teeth protrudes so this would actually be really useful to her.
I have always heard fabulous things about invisalign! My teeth are super crooked and I could really benefit from this product.
I looked into this for my sons but the orthodontist recommended traditional braces for both of them :/ so glad that’s over is Invisalign more cost effective?
I know a lot of adults who use Invisalign but not many teens. I’m sure it’s a great way to avoid braces but still have beautiful teeth.

I’ve always wondered about Invisalign. I always wanted these when they first came out. I could still use this option or braces. I think this is great because you don’t have to wear braces and they’re easily removed.
It’s great that you were able to get Ashley the Invisalign as well. Braces have come so far and teens don’t have to feel self-conscious.
My kids aren’t quite ready, but Invisalign is the path I’d prefer for them. I had the traditional metal braces for almost four years! Ugh!
One of my close friends used invisalign through her college years. She loved them and her teeth are beautiful now.
This is so interesting! and my son really needed this I’m so thankful that you shared about this.
I think Invisalign seems to be effective. I found this post quite interesting and a new concept completely. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Invisalign sounds like a good and effective treatment, and looks better that braces! Should check it out! Thanks for sharing!
Such a good info, my wife was really need this. Thanks for sharing this
My oldest son wants Invisalign. He’s 28, lol. I think he’ll end up getting it too. Nice to hear you see results so soon, sounds like it’s going to work great.
My daughter told me that most of her classmates are now wearing braces. Glad that this type of treatment is getting good resuts for your daughter.
These are great alternative for braces. My son doesn’t eant metal braces, these would be perfect for him. Heard great things about Invisalign!
I needed this as a teen. Wish it was around then. I’ll be keeping it in mind if my kiddos ever need anything, I think invisalign would be the way to go!
I often wonder if these are as good as the regular ones but they seem to be working fine
my friend is also doing this! and love all the improvements! congrats and all the best!
Still being able to eat what she wants sounds like a great perk. One of my nieces has traditional braces and it frustrates her to not be able to bite into and enjoy some of her favorite foods.
Thanks for sharing your experience. From the look of things, I may have to get my son some braces. When the time comes, I will check into Invisalign if it is available.
I think this is a great product, my son may be a prime candidate for Invisalign, sounds like a great product! I’ve heard from friends about great results. Very useful content!
I’ve heard such good results from this product, especially since there’s no braces! What a great experience for your teen too
That is awesome that you are both getting the treatment! I hope it works out for you!
Invisalign looks like a great choice for straightening out your teeth. I would like it a lot better then the traditional braces.
I would have loved to wear Invisalign instead of the metal braces i had. It was a terrible experience for me. The metal used to chew up my cheeks. I am looking forward to seeing the end results.
I always wanted to know more about Invisalign. I have a tween who needs braces soon! This looks like a great alternative.
i wouldnt mind trying invislign myself. i have always wanted braces and would love them
I have been contemplating getting these…it’s just so frustrating that I had to wear braces for few years and now my teeth have moved back to their original (unaligned) spots!
That would be perfect for my sister, she need this one. She would love it for sure.
I would love to try this and I would love to have it for my son too. Thanks for the giveaway!
