I’m so excited to be sharing about one of the most important things in my life, adoption.
My Little One didn’t just happen into our life. We worked hard to get her and waited over 6 years to finally get our much wanted third kiddo. Thanks to adoption she is ours today and I thank my lucky stars every day for the absolute gift that she is. I can’t imagine a day without her even when she is bossing us all around, {third child and baby of the family, you get it right?}. She completed our family in a way nobody else could. She is our daughter forever and it breaks my heart to know that there are children out there still waiting for their parents. Someone to call “mommy” or “daddy”, someone to always be there for them. We chose to adopt via newborn domestic adoption. But foster care adoptions was another choice we were looking into when we were lucky enough to be chosen to be her parents.
Did you know that there are more than 100,000 children in foster care awaiting adoption?
That means that there are more than 100,000 children who are ready to be adopted and just need to find a family to call their own. They need a home and tons of love. If you have ever thought about adding to your family I really recommend learning more about foster to adopt. You don’t need a lot of money. You only need one thing, the desire to love and parent a child. That’s it. Just be prepared for your heart to grow bigger and your life to get even better than you can imagine!
Wendy’s cares about foster children and wants to help find each and every child a home.
In 1990, Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s®, accepted President George H.W. Bush’s invitation to be the spokesperson for a national adoption awareness campaign. Just two years later, Dave established The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® as a non-profit public charity with one primary goal: to help every child in foster care find a loving, permanent family. For 22 years, Wendy’s® has supported foster care adoption.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® believes that we have a responsibility to be the voice of foster care adoption, so that every child finds a family. As founder Dave Thomas said, “These children are not someone else’s responsibility. They are our responsibility.” The DTFA exist to find homes for children who are waiting to be adopted from foster care in North America.
Thanks to Wendy’s® consumers and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®, 4,000+ children have found adoptive families.
You can help too!
This Halloween purchase a Wendy’s® Halloween Coupon Book for $1 at participating Wendy’s to support foster care adoption. Ninety cents of every $1 Halloween Coupon Book sold between September 13 – October 31, 2014 will benefit the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®. Coupons are valid for use: November 1, 2014 through February 1, 2015. This year, Wendy’s® aims to give $10 million to The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®.
These are perfect to hand out to trick or treaters!
We buy some each year to hand out on Halloween and as treats for the girls. I also love to give them to other friends. It starts the discussion about foster care and those amazing children waiting to be adopted. If it opens even one other persons eyes to adoption I am happy.
Plus my Little One LOVES Frosties and I love seeing her happy!
Be sure to visit your local Wendy’s® to purchase a Jr. Frosty™ Halloween Coupon Book* for $1, which benefits the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®!
Have you been touched by adoption?
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
I had no idea that Wendy’s did this. I always loved Wendy’s food and now I want to support them even more.
I used to give Frostys on Halloween. I haven’t done that in years. The coupons I didn’t give out, I kept and used myself.
I love getting the coupon books for Halloween and I love this cause! Going to get some later today.
I love giving kids the McDonald’s coupon books as treats. Glad to hear Wendy’s has them too!
I am so glad you shared this, I had no idea that they do this. What a beautiful thing for them to do. Your daughter is absolutely beautiful and I am sure she was worth the long wait.
Woohoo! I love that this is back for another year! We give out frosty coupons every year- I love the Dave Thomas foundation!
We already picked up our books this year! I love frosty’s ALMOST as much as I love a good cause!
I briefly watched a middle school child and after talking to her I realized she was adopted after having been in foster care. Her story of her and her siblings touched my heart and I was so thankful she found a forever home.
One of my neighbors always buys a bunch of these booklets and gives the coupons out for Halloween. The kids love getting to go get Frosties, and I think it’s great that my neighbor is supporting a good cause, too!
First of all, she is SO CUTE. Second of all, I had no idea that Wendy’s had any kind of a program like this – absolutely amazing!!! Thank you for sharing this!
Wow. There are so many kids that need a home. It’s a really sad thing to know, but I’m so glad Wendy’s is helping to do something about that.
Your little daughter is so adorable!! I love seeing her smiling face!
Awe, she is so sweet. I love, love, love those coupon books. I love to give them and get them.
I saw these coupon books at Wendy’s the other day. I had no idea there was so much to them. I will be sure to grab some the next time I am there!
I love what Wendy’s is doing for these kids. They need help so badly, and this is a great way to help.
That is awesome, I will definitely go by and pick some up for my family and for my friend who just adopted a foster child and is in the middle of adopting another!
Oh that’s so cool! The world needs more people who are willing to adopt. I feel so bad for those kids.
What a great thing for Wendy’s to do.
What a great idea. you get so much bang for your buck with those coupons.
Look at your gorgeous girl!
What a great thing Wendy’s is doing!
These would be great to hand out for Halloween. I like handing out things like this instead of candy.
We’ve seen these coupons before, but had no idea there was also a great cause behind them. Maybe we’ll give them away this year too.
This is a great cause and a great idea. If I was a kid, I’d totally rather get a frosty than a piece of fun sized candy.
I really love Wendy’s and I’m glad that they are doing the dollar coupon books 🙂
that is a great cause. Although we don’t eat fast foods in my family, I think Wendy’s is one of the better fast food restaurants
She’s a cutie. This is an awesome promotion for a great cause. It’s wonderful that Wendy’s has been able to help so many children find families.
I agree! This is much better. Thank you for sharing a great cause.
I love the idea of giving Frostys and that Wendys is giving back to a great cause. Win win!
I think it’s so great that Wendy’s is doing this. There are so many children out there who have to grow up in the system, never having a true home. It’s very sad.
I will definitely be buying some of these booklets to give out on Halloween. My son and his teammates will also love to have these for after practice!
Love this concept! I just bought a bunch of these booklets!
What a wonderful idea, well done Wendy’s! Such a great cause to support.
We just completed this campaign and we loved it. Who wouldn’t want free frosties and all while helping kids.
I read about this program the other day and think it’s such a great thing to do! I don’t eat fast food but may stop by Wendy’s to support this program!
I’m so excited people are getting behind this foundation! To hear that it has done such an amazing blessing into so many young lives- AWESOME!
We love Wendy’s! The Adoption program is really awesome too! What a powerful program!
Congratulations as one adoptive parent to another. I am very aware of all the great work that Wendy’s does internationally in all of the restaurants for adoption post adoption support’s foster care and permanency planning. I actually choose Wendy’s often with my own kids because I believe in supporting companies that give back and do good for the community and Wendy’s is one of those companies that I will always support. One year I actually met the founder Debra I can’t remember her last name but she was adopted as a child and she’s very inspirational she spoke at a an adoption conference in the US so I very much support this organization and I buy the Halloween booklets every year keep doing such great work Wendy’s
It’s really a win win! I love that they support adoption!
We pick up our books from wendys every year, My whole family loves frostys!
This is truly a great cause. I have friends who have adopted and also know families trying to get their birth children out of the system, but I still support those who try to make it better. Great job Wendy’s.
Buying the little books is such an easy way to help. I love all that they are doing. And adoption is an awesome thing to do for someone, it changes everyone’s lives involved (for the better).
This is such a great idea. Adoption is an amazing thing to do for so many people. The parents and the kids all benefit !
I am a huge fan of Wendy’s frosty. will have to see if my local Wendy’s is offering this.
I wish I could adopt them all. I really would adopt kids if I had the finances to do so.
I always loved getting these coupons in my TOT bag. I am going to have to go to Wendy’s and pick some up to pass out to the kids this year!
I never adopted, nor do I know anyone near me who has been touched by adoption, but I would adopt a child if I had more means to do so. It is great that Wendy’s is getting involved.
What a lovely thing for them to be doing -I am adopted as well so it is a big part of my life and I am very thankful to those people who do choose to take on children like myself. x
I think this is a great alternative to handing out candy. It is a great way to raise awareness for this great campaign.
What a fantastic program that Wendy’s is a part of! We love going there anyways, and now even more since we know we are supporting a great cause!
I love Frostys! This is such a great program. I actually hope to foster when Jake moves out (he’s almost 18 cry!).
I love Wendy’s frostys. I might get this for my boys for Halloween. Thanks for the idea.
