I’m so excited to be sharing about one of the most important things in my life, adoption.
My Little One didn’t just happen into our life. We worked hard to get her and waited over 6 years to finally get our much wanted third kiddo. Thanks to adoption she is ours today and I thank my lucky stars every day for the absolute gift that she is. I can’t imagine a day without her even when she is bossing us all around, {third child and baby of the family, you get it right?}. She completed our family in a way nobody else could. She is our daughter forever and it breaks my heart to know that there are children out there still waiting for their parents. Someone to call “mommy” or “daddy”, someone to always be there for them. We chose to adopt via newborn domestic adoption. But foster care adoptions was another choice we were looking into when we were lucky enough to be chosen to be her parents.
Did you know that there are more than 100,000 children in foster care awaiting adoption?
That means that there are more than 100,000 children who are ready to be adopted and just need to find a family to call their own. They need a home and tons of love. If you have ever thought about adding to your family I really recommend learning more about foster to adopt. You don’t need a lot of money. You only need one thing, the desire to love and parent a child. That’s it. Just be prepared for your heart to grow bigger and your life to get even better than you can imagine!
Wendy’s cares about foster children and wants to help find each and every child a home.
In 1990, Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s®, accepted President George H.W. Bush’s invitation to be the spokesperson for a national adoption awareness campaign. Just two years later, Dave established The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® as a non-profit public charity with one primary goal: to help every child in foster care find a loving, permanent family. For 22 years, Wendy’s® has supported foster care adoption.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® believes that we have a responsibility to be the voice of foster care adoption, so that every child finds a family. As founder Dave Thomas said, “These children are not someone else’s responsibility. They are our responsibility.” The DTFA exist to find homes for children who are waiting to be adopted from foster care in North America.
Thanks to Wendy’s® consumers and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®, 4,000+ children have found adoptive families.
You can help too!
This Halloween purchase a Wendy’s® Halloween Coupon Book for $1 at participating Wendy’s to support foster care adoption. Ninety cents of every $1 Halloween Coupon Book sold between September 13 – October 31, 2014 will benefit the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®. Coupons are valid for use: November 1, 2014 through February 1, 2015. This year, Wendy’s® aims to give $10 million to The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®.
These are perfect to hand out to trick or treaters!
We buy some each year to hand out on Halloween and as treats for the girls. I also love to give them to other friends. It starts the discussion about foster care and those amazing children waiting to be adopted. If it opens even one other persons eyes to adoption I am happy.
Plus my Little One LOVES Frosties and I love seeing her happy!
Be sure to visit your local Wendy’s® to purchase a Jr. Frosty™ Halloween Coupon Book* for $1, which benefits the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®!
Have you been touched by adoption?
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
I think this is so wonderful! I used to love getting these as a kid! Such a great idea!
WE purchase their frosty booklets every year around this time. My kids loves their food.
She is too cute! We already picked up our frosty books. Love them!
She is totally cute. Looks like she is enjoying that Frosty
I love Wendy’s! We’ve already picked up a coupon book from there ourselves!
I just picked up a bunch of these coupon books. I think it makes a great ‘treat’ for trick or treating.
I think the adoption program is so wonderful. I am not really a fan of fast food but I sure like the options at Wendys.
What a wonderful cause to support, and easy enough to do! My cousins adopted their two children, one from Vietnam and one from Ethiopia.
I see commercials for this and it warms my heart. We are struggling with starting a family and still undergoing fertility treatment, but adoption looks near in our future.
My kids love these too! We have a Wendy’s right around the corner!
What a beautiful gift she is! It saddens me to know that there are so many kids out there in foster care =(
We already scoop up any kind of frosty promotion Wendy’s has, but with a cause like this behind it, it’s that much better. I just may get these as treats for my kids fall parties instead of some kind of candy. I’m sure the kids would love them & imagine all the kids that would benefit from it.
This is one reason why I love Wendy’s! Adoption is a big part of our family, too … AND our daughter loves Wendy’s cheeseburgers. I’m so glad to know about this and not sure how I missed it in the past!
I love this Frosty’s for Families campaign! I think tomorrow I’ll be going to our local Wendy’s to get this coupon book!
I like the idea of handing this out instead of candy. That totally works for me!
I don’t have adoption within my immediate family, but I still like the initiative a lot!
Love this! I remember we used to get things like this for Halloween when I was little.
I love this! I’m headed out today to grab a few coupon books for my kids and their friends!
What a great cause. My kids love frosties.. and if I am being honest, I do too 😉
Wendy’s is one of two fast food restaurants my son will eat at, so I’m there fairly often. I’m going to pick up a bunch of the coupon books to pass out at Halloween and love that 90% of the proceeds goes to a good cause!
I remember loving getting coupons in my trick or treat bag. I am going to have to pickup some of these coupon books from Wendys to add to my kid’s bags.
This is a great coupon book and foundation. I will definitely stop by and pick one up.
