I received a Sweetwater gift card as part of my relationship with the Quality Blue Community. All opinions expressed are my own.
Older kids and tweens are some of the hardest to shop for.
They are past the toy stage where you can get them pretty much anything, but they still love gifts that they can use. I also like gifts that can grow with them. I think I’ve found the perfect gift… a new guitar.
I surprised Ashley with one and it was a hit!
I ordered the Epiphone DR-100, Vintage Sunburst about five days before from Sweetwater on their website.
It was really easy to use the Sweetwater site, and it was full of useful information that helped me make an educated choice as far as buying her first guitar. There is so much information that they share that you really feel like you are getting a personal shopping assistant. Plus, the next day someone actually called me from Sweetwater to make sure I was good with my order and to answer any questions.
I was a little apprehensive about purchasing the guitar online since I didn’t know anything about them, but Sweetwater made the experience easy and I was very satisfied with my purchase.
And this was the surprise moment I was waiting for!
Ashley didn’t know what was in the box until she opened it. She was so excited. She’s been talking about how she wants to take guitar lessons for a long time and this is the first step to making that dream come true.
I was really happy that Sweetwater currently provides free shipping and free return shipping on guitars, just in case she had changed her mind about owning a guitar. Another bonus that Sweetwater offers is free tech support for your guitar and a 2-year warranty on all guitars they sell. That way you can buy with confidence.
I wanted to take a moment and share how impressed I was with the shipping aspect of my purchase too.
You could tell it was wrapped with care. It was double boxed, and there was even a little sweet treat waiting for us when we opened it. But Sweetwater’s dedication to their customers goes far beyond that. Every guitar that comes into Sweetwater is unboxed and inspected by a professional who make sure everything is in perfect working order. They tune the guitar so that your child is ready to jam the moment they open the box. When you purchase from other retailers that don’t tune the guitar after receiving, it they are leaving this step up to you… which not a good way to start a new musical adventure.
When we opened the box they had even included a little bag of candy! How awesome is that?!
If you have a someone on your list that would love the gift of a guitar this holiday season be sure to try Sweetwater for yourself on Cyber Monday!
I think getting a kid a musical instrument is a great idea. If they’re interested, it’s something that they can have for the rest of their lives.
My son wants to play the guitar so bad. We haven’t bought one yet. His music teacher said to start with piano so that he can read music. Once you do that apparently other instruments are easier.
My tweets play musical instruments but I’ve always wanted them to learn to play the guitar too. I’ll have to check out this company.

When I was 16 I begged my parents for an electric guitar. I tried to teach myself how to play when they finally did but became very frustrated with it. I think my fingers were too short as they never quite reached where they should.
This is awesome! I think it’s so important for kids of all ages to experience and try music – it definitely is a great growth tool!
