We love to travel.
That’s not a secret at all… I pretty much tell everyone that. What is a secret is that I have a few tips that I refer back to all the time to maximize our vacations. From saving money to just making our vacations more fun, these tips are a must for travelers like us!
Tip #1- Make sure you choose vacation spots that have something for everyone you are traveling with. We vacation as a family with children of all ages (literally) and this is my biggest focus.
With a 15, 12 and 5 year old we have a range of interests. As I’m researching a new place to travel to I’m always thinking about if everyone will have fun there! I don’t leave Pete and I off the list either… we have to enjoy the place too! Keeping this all in front of my mind has allowed me to pretty much guarantee that a good time will be had by all and it’s also lead to us finding some new things to do as a family that we wouldn’t have done before if I hadn’t researched it in the same manner.
Tip #2- Look for specials that will save you money or provide you other added benefits. Join every reward program and add yourself to email newsletters to be kept in the loop with your favorite travel companies.
Country Inns & Suites has a special this spring called Double the Fun, that is exactly what I am looking for when it comes to stretching my travel budget. If you are a member of one of the rewards program for the participating airlines below, and you stay at Country Inns & Suites, you can receive double the airline rewards for your stay.
With 470 locations, Country Inns & Suites is a convenient option no matter where your travels take you. To take advantage of the offer, simply provide your airline loyalty membership detail at check-in for one of the following airlines and you will earn double the rewards that you normally would earn.
- Southwest Airlines – Earn Double Rapid Rewards Points March 1st through May 31, 2015
- American Airlines – Earn Double Miles April 15 through June 30, 2015
- United Airlines – Earn Double Miles April 15 through June 30, 2015
- Air Canada – Earn Double Miles April 15 through June 30, 2015
Country Inns & Suites offers perfect hotel accommodations whether you’re traveling with family or for business. They have comfortable, spacious rooms with a dedicated work area and a business center. Even on trips when I bring my family. Pete and I still have to work, so having the dedicated work area and business center is a must and saves us time and money by not having to go off the property. Plus having tons of amenities makes The Rest Comes Easy!
Tip #3- Consider traveling off season.
We make a point of avoiding the busy season whenever we are on vacation. Not only are rates a lot more affordable, but there are less crowds so you can get more things done with less waiting. The only drawback to this is that some attractions can be closed during the off season, (like pools and such) so be sure to research that if it’s important to you. Anything that has ever been closed has been small in comparison to the benefits of off season travels.
Country Inns & Suites has over 470 locations worldwide that provide a caring, consistent and comfortable experience, delivered with a touch of home. Learn more about Country Inns & Suites or Book Now.
Have you ever stayed at a Country Inns & Suites?
WE have stayed in so many places. I am sure we have stayed at one. They seem great.
Great tips. My problem is that we are a big family and lodging is so hard to find for big families, most of the time they want to split you up and make you pay for 2 rooms which is not affordable.
I have never stayed with them, But summer is on its way in and we have lots of travel planed so will look into them
We love Southwest airlines and their travel rewards! It’s so important to find an airline with good rewards.
These are all really great tips! Thank you for the heads up on their special going on!

Oh, I completely agree, research is key when vacationing! Really does sound like a great place to stay.
I can really identify with tip #1. My daughter likes the tours and sightseeing but my son just likes a nice view and some chill time.
What an awesome special! Both my fiance and I have been doing lots of travel for our respective jobs and have been saving up all our points for some trips away this summer. Double airline points would make the deals we’ve been finding even sweeter!
I definitely want to maximize my travel plans. Thank you so much for these great tips. I’m planning a summer getaway shortly.
I don’t believe we have stayed at a Country Inn & Suites but did sign up for the Southwest Airlines Visa card so we can rack up points for air miles.
These are such great ideas. We make it a point to travel during the off season…less crowded EVERYTHING and since our boys aren’t old enough for school yet, we have tons of flexibility in our schedule!
yes, go off season! While it can really be difficult to get away during the off season, it can pay off in terms of pricing and crowds.
I don’t think I have stayed at a Country Inn & Suites. But I’ll considered it on our next trip. We always book a suite now that our kids our older and need more space.
I always look for deals on travel. It makes it all the better when i feel like i got something over on the place.. lol
We put a lot of thought into places that appeal to both us and our kids too! Sometimes you have to make tiny sacrifices to make your kids happy.
I remember vacationing with my father and how he liked to maximize vacations by actually driving. He loved the open road and being able to see the country. Country Inns was one of his goto hotels when we went places.
Okay wow, do you get this a lot? Your 15 year old looks SO much like you – I swear you two could be sisters, you look so young!!!
Nancy you are so sweet! I don’t feel old enough to have a 15 year old! We do hear that we look alike a lot. I feel so happy when I hear that because I think she is beautiful! I’m not sure she appreciates it as much LOL!

These are great tips! I’ll be putting them to good use this summer when we travel!
Thanks for the tips! With 4 kids, we find it challenging finding places to soot all their interest/levels.
I’d love to travel off season because everywhere is so much quieter. Also, it’s much cheaper to travel before and after summer too.
I think I am a member. I didn’t know you could get airline points though. I’m totally checking into it!

We are in the UK and so have never stayed in the suites, but I love your tip for travelling off season. So true. We could never afford it otherwise, prices double here in the UK for holiday season :/

My husband only travels off season because he hates big crowds. It actually works out better and we save so much of money! Great tips.
I always look for specials when I travel. You can travel more if you travel cheaper. 🙂
Traveling when you can earn extra miles is definitely a great idea. Thanks for the tips.
