Are you looking for the ultimate Mother’s Day celebration? Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa’s Mahalo Mama Month for May is just that! Starting with breakfast in bed and a special spa package just for us moms to relax… I’m so excited to share our full review with you. Special thanks to Disney for hosting this amazing vacation and for allowing us an early look at Mahalo Mama Month!
On day five of our vacation, the day was dedicated to me experiencing Mahalo Mama Month at Aulani.
I woke up to breakfast in bed. Not just any breakfast though… it was an indulgent Hawaiian-style French Toast stuffed with chocolate and strawberries, topped with warm strawberry compote and whipped cream. Think the traditional Mother’s Day morning breakfast, but like 10,000 times more delicious. Room service brought us all our favorites and then my girl’s hand-carried mine to my bed so that I could enjoy it overlooking this view!
Yes, I totally took a picture with them and the food first!
Please pay special attention to the Mickey waffles too! So yummy, and that is also two orders of the special french toast. Don’t judge.
At this exact moment, I was asking myself why we don’t order room service more? Especially at Disney properties? That is changing. We are going to do this from now on.
As part of the Mahalo Mama Month, there are also spa specials. My appointment was for later that day, but I had promised Emmy some spa time too, so I made an appointment for her to have her hair cut.
She was so excited and everyone in the spa made her and the other littlest guests feel so welcome. She also loved the different infused water flavors here.
I can’t even tell you how much fun she had. There was so much Disney magic including a special sweet treat and pixie dust for her hair once it was done.
The whole time she was getting her treatment done, I was already in the spa zone. This is what I was thinking about:
Once her hair was perfectly cut and styled, it was off to Aunty’s House kid’s club for her. See, there is no excuse to not go to the spa when they have such a great special AND there is a great kid’s club for the little ones to enjoy.
I made a slight detour on the way back to the spa… to get a pina colada.
No alcohol in this one, so it was perfect for relaxing and my favorite one yet. There were even small shavings of real coconut. I keep trying to think of ways to have one shipped to me, but yeah, not going to happen. Guess we will just have to go back to Aulani soon! Make sure you get one when you are here next. They are available down by the lagoon!
In case you were wondering where Maddie and Ashley were, they were at the spa too! Right next door to the Laniwai Spa, is the Painted Sky Teen Spa. They had massages and then enjoyed some smoothies by the pool!
And Pete wasn’t left out either. He also had a massage. We crossed paths in the co-ed section of the spa for a fleeting moment.
I had the most relaxing two hours that I can remember.
I’m not even joking. The spa is beautiful and one of the most tranquil ones I have been in.
When you go to Spa Laniwai make sure to arrive early to also enjoy Kula Wai, the 5,000-square-foot garden retreat. It has private vitality baths, co-ed soaking pools, a cold water therapy plunge pool, six rain-style showers, a heated whirlpool jet spa, and my favorite…a reflexology path designed to massage the feet and lower legs as you walk along it.
There is also a lounge area with a menu of healthy foods and beverages.
My Mahalo Mama Spa Package included Aulani’s signature Lomilomi Massage (25 Minutes), Cinderella Facial (25 Minutes) and Yummy Mummy Organic Pedicure (50 Minutes). That was the best 2 hours ever!
The Lomilomi Massage provides a gentle, rhythmic massage, releasing tension, pain and fatigue—while infusing the mind, body and spirit with positive energy, increased circulation and muscle tone. Lomilomi is a traditional Hawaiian massage passed down through generations by healing kūpuna (elders). Before the massage started I chose an aromatherapy scent and also the music playing in the background. Pete and I compared notes afterward and we both chose ocean sounds and then switched halfway to the sounds of the rainforest! I guess that is proof that we have been married for a long time!
Next, I had The Cinderella Facial which begins with a skin-refining exfoliation, followed by a vitamin-rich facial mask. The treatment leaves every princess with a youthful glow and it totally did to me! My skin felt so soft and hydrated!
To complete my spa day I had The Yummy Mummy Organic Pedicure. Starting with a foot soak, deep cleanse, nail grooming, exfoliation, massage and then polish.
I was so sad we were leaving the next day because I wanted a repeat of this awesome day before we went home!
There is even more fun at Aulani in May to create great memories together. Every Sunday in May in the Pau Hana Room, mothers and children can bond over creating a Lei Poʻo (Head lei) and learning the art of Hula.
For moms interested in swimming among the tropical fish in Rainbow Reef, Aulani’s private snorkel lagoon, the resort is offering a 10% discount (one day access or length of stay access) in May. We did this multiple times during our stay and loved it!
Learn more about celebrating Mother’s Day all May long at Aulani here.
I highly recommend making your spa appointment before you arrive at Aulani, or as soon as you do. For good reason (it’s awesome), they do fill up. The Mahalo Mama Month spa specials are available during May and truly are a great way to spoil the mom in your life.
Next time we are at Aulani, the spa is at the top of our list for everyone in the family and I love that there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy to take this vacation to a whole new relaxing level!
