Cold and Flu season is no fun for anyone. To make it easier I have come up with some simple tips to feel your best during this time of year. The cold and flu season has hit us hard.
It started earlier this year than other years. I was sick for what felt like all of September and then the girls all had mild colds here and there. Then this past week we got surprised with a stomach virus that Pete is currently battling upstairs. I’m trying to stay as far away from him while he fights it, so that one of us is healthy enough to take care of the kids. Before I evacuated our bedroom I set him up with my Nightstand Must-Haves For Cold & Flu Time!
1. CVS Non-Drowsy Daytime Multi-Symptom Cold/Flu Relief Liquid
Even though you will probably be resting while you are feeling under the weather, you might still have to get some work done. Thankfully CVS has a product that won’t make you drowsy while providing some relief from your cold and flu symptoms.
2. A note pad
I always say I have a good memory, but the truth is that it’s not always great, especially when I’m not feeling well. I now keep a note pad on my nightstand to jot down when I take medicine. It’s important to follow the instructions on medication and to take it as directed. This helps me not to have to guess when the last time I took it was, and when I can take it again.
3. CVS Nighttime Cold/Flu Relief
Nighttime calls for as much rest as possible. I stock our nightstand with this because it offers relief from multiple symptoms to help me get some rest.
4. Something to drink
Each of us have a favorite drink to help us stay hydrated when we are sick. I’m an ice water with lemon person, Pete just likes room temperature water and the girls all seem to rotate through other options. The most important part is to have something to sip throughout the day without much effort.
5. Crackers, toast or other bland flood item
The best way to avoid additional stomach upset is to have something to snack on as you feel up to it. We usually stock our nightstand with lightly salted crackers, but bananas and dry toast are great too. As you start to feel better sipping on broth is a good way to get some nourishment and fluids!

I really hate having colds and this season flu is really so common, it would be nice to be a step ahead. These are awesome suggestions, thanks for sharing!
I always have to have a drink and tissues on my nightstand. I hate to get up in the middle of the night just for that.
I keep water and tissues on hand at all times. if I am sick, I keep medications there too.
i have a cup of water to keep dehydrated during cold and flu
Great suggestions! I keep my water bottle next to me nighttime during cold. I don’t want to go down stairs for it. Happy Thanksgiving!
i prefer water and citrus fruits. but when it gets worse we need some leveraging. this must be a good brand.
Great idea. I always have a cup of water beside in my bed so i don’t need to get up in the midnight
I have been very fortunate this season….I hate that feeling when you get a bad cold….you are really prepared….good for you!
Having a cold is never an easy. I used to medicate with water, I’m glad that you are always prepared. 🙂
This is the time of year I stock up on cold meds and I always have my water and kindle by my bed in case I get sick.
I always have a glass of water on my nightstand. I never liked taking liquid meds because of the taste.
Ugh I hope I don’t get any colds this year! I hate being sick, these are some great ways to help out once you already are though 🙂
You pretty much covered it right there. I like to be able to reach for them in the night!
I used to drink plenty of water to medicate it. Good to here that you are always prepared.
Yes, I definitely keep both the daytime and nighttime versions of cold/flu medicine close by.
