Springtime allergies always hit us hard. My middle one is allergic to almost every tree, flower and grass and the little one is allergic to Spring days in general. She can go from this happy little girl playing outside to a miserable puffy-eyed 4-year-old in minutes flat. We still don’t know exactly what triggers her allergy issues so we just plan ahead and take our Kids Allergy Survival Kit with us!

I went shopping at Walgreens for our kit this year because during the month of March, Well at Walgreens products are buy one get one 50% off. This is a pretty good savings and I stocked up!

In our kit, I purchased the following things:

  • Wal-Dryl Allergy
  • Box of tissues
  • Hand Sanitizer- We are extra careful with germs when they are having an allergy attack.
  • Lip moisturizer- Mouth breathing can mean cracked and uncomfortable lips. Prevention is best.
  • Hand Lotion- If you get a rash lotion is soothing relief after the attack is over.
  • Walgreens Dye-free Ibuprofen 100- Allergies can be painful. You will want this.
  • Be Kool- My little one loves these and they keep her cool and comfortable while we wait for the medications to kick in.
  • Favorite candies- Allergies can leave a bad taste in your mouth. This helps so much with that.
  • Toys- The worst part is waiting for the medications to start to work. This makes waiting better.

Another cool thing about shopping at Walgreens is the Walgreens Way to Well Commitment! Starting February 1, 2011 through December 31, 2014, 1¢ from the purchase of every Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness product, up to $3 million annually, will support bringing preventative wellness services to local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Commitment®. Pretty awesome, right? It’s nice to be a part of something great like this just by buying things you need and would purchase anyways.

Do you have an allergy sufferer in your home too?

  • Living in the hill country.. we ALL suffer from allergies.. daily allergy pills for all of us! I love Walgreens and all of their store brand products.

  • What a great idea to pick up toys. Waiting for medicine to work definitely stinks!

  • My boys have allergies. And like you we have no idea what is the trigger! I feel so bad for them. Good idea having a survival pack!

  • I love the kit you put together. My daughter doesn’t have allergies but I do! It’s awful and I need to create a kit for myself!

  • My daughters and I were fortunate that we don’t suffer from allergies. This survival pack is a great idea and will come in handy!

  • I’ve never heard of the Be Kool, but gosh that would be soothing! It’s a great idea to put together the most needed supplies to have on hand.

  • Great collection you have. My son has allergies in the spring, and we’ve taken to small daily doses to non drowsy claritin!

  • We are lucky that allergies do not affect us or our 3 year old too bad. I am hoping that we can say the same for our 3 month old once summer is here and we are past all the pollen and stuff!

  • My poor daughter is an allergy sufferer and I swear I have adult onset allergies! We love claritin and will have to check out some of the products you recommend.

  • What a great kit of items. I have one with allergies and one without. It is always great to be prepared!

  • What a great idea! I’ve never thought about developing an allergy kit, but I think you’ve inspired me. My boys don’t have too bad of allergies, but it’s always best to be prepared.

  • That’s a great allergy kit that you put together! I especially like the idea of having a toy available while you are waiting for the meds to take effect. Thanks for sharing!

  • Allergies stink, it’s smart of you to think ahead! Buy one get one half off is a nice deal!

  • My brother used to have the worst allergies. They had to do scratch tests on him when he was young. When my youngest was young he had a reaction to a detergent once so now I only use one of three.

  • I do have kiddos with allergies and this is an excellent kit! I especially love the idea of toy for the waiting time.

  • My daughter has allergies, but we have to stay away from Waldryl and stick with Claritin. She gets drowsy otherwise.

  • My daughter and I are really fighting the allergies this year. I didn’t know that Walgreen’s was offering this promotion right now. I’ll have to get over there and pick up some of our favorite products, too. Your allergy kit is stocked with some great products!

  • I have allergies though they aren’t as bad now as when I was a kid. I think my youngest might have them as well.

  • Neither of my kids suffer from allergies, but I do. This kit looks great, and very practical. Maybe I can spin it a bit so I could get some use out of it. Thanks for sharing.

  • I think this is a great idea! And every parent should have one! Matter of fact I am going to make my daughters one!

  • I could have used a kit like this over spring break. My toddler and I both spent it awfully sick. Allergy problems turned into an infection.

  • Fortunately, no one in my house suffers from allergies. I’d like to give this kit to several people in my office though. They could use it 🙂

  • I suffer from allergies in spring and summer so I ALWAYS have tissues and some sort of antihistamine on hand for when things get rough. Life is so much easier when you’re prepared!

  • I might have to get an allergy kit together sometime soon. I think my son is gonna end up suffering just as bad as I do xD

  • Allergies are the worst. I only developed them as an adukt. Glad I was spared during my childhood.

  • Allergies are hitting my poor little guy hard. I need to make this kit for him!

  • One of my daughters gets hit with allergies bad during the allergy season each year. I need to stock up like you!

  • We have seasonal allergies… and they are just starting to hit around here. As it dries out and the pollen count goes up we all get itchy eyes and congested. Thanks for sharing your kit. #client
