I’m so happy to bring you five ways to add more color to your kitchen with this sponsored post written by me on behalf of Georgia-Pacific.
When we first bought our home the walls were all white.
I love how bright white walls are, but they can also be a bit depressing and stark… especially in the kitchen. The kitchen is the center of our home. It’s not just where we eat. It’s where most of our family conversations happen and it’s where we always end up hanging out at dinner parties. Because it’s such an important room in the house I want my kitchen to feel bright and joyful. Adding pops of color throughout the kitchen is one of my favorite kitchen decorating tips!
Here are five ways to add more color and joy to your kitchen.
1. Celebrate the seasons.
The kitchen is the perfect place to add some festive color. I love to bring a variety of pumpkins and their beautiful colors as a display on our center island during the fall. As the seasons change so do my displays.
2. Light up the room.
Regular ceiling lights are great and all… but I love adding an extra counter top light to really add some color {this one changes colors and can be programmed to the color of your choice}. Aside from making the kitchen brighter, it also adds a warmer feeling.
3. Don’t forget natural colors.
Displaying fruits and veggies are some of the best ways to add some pops of color. I love to display apples, oranges and bananas! It also encourages healthy snacking. Double win!
4. Paint your walls.
I think there is a misconception about painting your walls. It’s one of the quickest ways to really add some big color to your kitchen. This the before and after of our kitchen from when we bought it. The paint changed the whole look of the room and even made the flooring look brighter and warmer.
5. The small things add up.
If you don’t have time for a big kitchen makeover remember the little things. Just adding a little bit of color makes the whole room look better. I love using Sparkle® towels with a hint of color. These towels are the answer for those of us who think white towels are a little too plain, but prints don’t always match the décor. These add one color across a subtle pattern and they deliver just the right amount of color to add a touch of style to any kitchen. Sparkle® towels are made and priced to offer the right mix of performance and value to consumers, which I love.

I always have a bowl of apples on the island in my kitchen! It looks awesome (I think).
I wish my kitchen was that clean and big!!! I’m in awe!
I agree, our new place has a little tiny kitchen. I need to brighten it up with some color.
Such great ideas! I love Sparkle. I like buying seasonal paper towels 🙂
I really like this idea! We have our fruit basket on the dining room table but I think it would definitely add a pop of color if we moved it.
WE try to do the fruit thing, but we wind up eating the fruit too fast.. lol
Oi. I just need a new kitchen in general. I could tell you horror stories about my kitchen. colorful is something that it has in abundance though.
My kitchen could use some more color. I never thought about using a fruit bowl or paper towels with designs. Thanks for the great ideas.
I always have a bowl of fruit on display on my counter. It adds color and if it’s out there the kids are more likely to snack on fruit!
Very nice. I think my color tends to come from artwork, decorative bottles or items I post on the fridge.
What great ideas! My kitchen is boring, drab and colourless I could use some of these ideas!
I live in an apartment and this is a small walk through kitchen! I have often thought about painting the wall above the stove a muted yellow color–maybe one of these days I will get up the energy! Color does make a world of difference.
I love displaying fruits and veggies too – for the same reasons! We were just talking updating our kitchen wall color this week as a matter of fact!
I love the amount of fresh light that is in the kitchen. The white scheme of cabinets goes with the lighting.
I love Sparkle! But I more love all those cute ideas you just gave me! I have my pumkins in a corner, I wonder if lining them up would last! 😉
What great ideas. Currently, my kitchen is very boring.
We have a super small kitchen with little to no natural light so I think the tip of using an extra counter top light would really bring in more color. These are all great tips, thanks for sharing
Great ideas! I have quite a few mini pumpkins in my kitchen right now, really livens the place up!
Great ideas, I love the newer paint color. It made a difference!
I actually prefer painted walls over those that are stark white. It gives each room more character. I especially love earthy tones!
I recently painted the front of my kitchen cabinets pink. (OK, you know I’m a pink girl, but even I will admit this was a bit excessive). I left the back the dark brown so the dark trim comes through. The walls are white and I made curtains with the pink and some blue. Then I used the same fabric to reupholster the chairs. The colors are great! Kitchens, which my mother says should always be yellow, are now colorful and full of fun!
What a great idea! I love those paper towels!
You can also go with colored appliances. These add pops of color and are easily changeable.
These are some really great ideas! I will try some of them myself!
Cheers,
Eileen
These are all great ideas! I need to clear my counters first 🙂 LOL
I can’t believe that is the same kitchen in your before/after photos of you painting the walls! WOW, that seriously made such a HUGE difference! I love the painted walls look. It really makes your kitchen gorgeous!
These are great tips. I love what you did with the pumpkins. They’re very pretty.
My mother in law gave me 5 really pretty vibrant bowls. Between those and rugs, my kitchen has a splash of color.
Fruit is a great way to add color to a kitchen. There are so many varieties of colors, shapes, and textures, there’s no end to what you can do.
I’m partial about earth and natural colors. Makes the kitchen more homey.
I always make sure I’ve got some sort of fruit on my kitchen table.
Paint is a great way to change the entire feel of a room in one fell swoop. It’s amazing how much different a room can look when you change the color.
I love the whole fruit on a platter thing. I think the white really brings out the reds, and orange hues-beautiful!
What nice touches! We use this brand often in our home too!
Wow now these are great ideas to add some more color, I need to try it!
I cannot stand plain white walls! The first thing I always do when encountering a new house is pick out a color scheme. White is so boring!
Lots of great ideas. Right now we only have room to add the paper towels! In two weeks I move to a house with a real kitchen – can not wait. I will get to add color then!

Love the pumpkins! So cute!
the kitchen is such a major hub in most homes that it makes sense to bring in color and personality. Painting walls is a great way to start, and adding the fruits is an awesome inexpensive way to do it as well
Our kitchen has not gone under renovation or redesign for the last five years. It’s still colorful though although the colors don’t change per season because we only have two seasons in our country anyway. We prefer minimal design and muted color of paint on the wall.
I love that white cake plate…so very pretty. Great tips for adding joy to a kitchen.
An easy way to bring a lot of life and color! Beautiful kitchen!
