We had a lot of questions before we went on our first family cruise hosted by Princess Cruises so we are sharing a complete review of the Crown Princess, Princess Cruises California Coastal cruise.
Day 6 in San Diego!
It’s a funny thing being a tourist in your own hometown, but it’s also pretty cool too! We decided to do some things we’ve always wanted to do that we never can find the time to do… plus we arranged for a surprise stop at a Crossfit Box that our middle daughter has wanted to workout at for a very long time!
The day started by docking in San Diego… this is a very easy port to disembark from to get on shore.
We were off the ship quickly and enjoying a walk around Little Italy in less than 10 minutes.
Pete and Ashley headed straight to Invictus Crossfit for a workout. Ash was THRILLED to visit, and workout at this box, and they were so welcoming!
Maddie, Emmy and I explored the side streets around the Crossfit Box and soon it was time to get back on board the ship and enjoy a drink. While I was sipping a cocktail, everyone else went for a swim!
When we headed back to the room, there were delicious surprise afternoon snacks waiting for us…
Here is how the rest of the day went.
Leaving for Ensenada…
Dinner in Da Vinci’s… This ended up being our favorite restaurant. We never made it to all of them because we loved it here so much. There was an additional charge to eat here, and it was absolutely worth it. Everyone quickly learned our preferences and the chef created such wonderful meals for us that were vegetarian and vegan. I am asked all the time if the food on Princesses Cruises is good and the answer is always yes. The food is really good!
We dropped the kids all in kids camp and Pete, and I enjoyed some entertainment and the casino (I won!).
Off to enjoy the warm weather, see you all tomorrow!
What is your favorite thing to eat or drink on a cruise?

It looks like you’re having an amazing time! That food looks really great.
That is fantastic! I adore San Diego and we are dying to take a cruise someday! Next time maybe you could do me a favor and take me with you!
I have never been to San Diego but it looks like a fantastic place to visit. As I’ve never been on a cruise I hace no idea what I would want to eat or drink. I would definitely go for the Virgin drinks and if they had Shrimp, clams, mussels and or lobster I would gladly eat them every single day!
Ahhh that all looks like so much fun! & I have to say that I never knew cruises had a kids camp. Maybe we;ll all be able to take one sooner rather than later.
We like going to the casino when we are on a cruise. I have won some, lost some.
Looks like fun. My family needs a vacation. A cruise sounds lovely.
We have never been on a cruise before. I have it on my travel bucket list to do with my family.
I’ve never been on a cruise but now? I want to. looks like such a great time I’m actually slightly jealous!
Oh….this makes me want to go back. I’ve done two carribbean cruises and LOVED them! Looks like you had a great time!
The sunset over the water is absolutely gorgeous! I would love to go on a cruise soon.
It looks like you guys are having an amazing time. It’s so nice to be able to enjoy a cruise and see new sights without the stress of hitting open water.
That is so cool that you’re experiencing your stomping grounds from a totally new perspective. There’s always something new to see, no matter how long you’ve lived in a place.
Oh I have always wanted to go on a cruise! Oh it looks like so much fun! And the food looks absolutely amazing too!
This looks like such a great cruise to take the whole family on. I would love to go on a cruise some day.
I was in San Diego so briefly a few years back, i don’t feel like I seen nor did much, Time for another visit – and going via cruise would be awesome!
Ok I am so jealous right now! lol I would love to be on a cruise right now and away from the snow and cold. I’m definitely going to have to go on one someday.

What a beautiful photo tour! The ship is truly enormous! I love your sunset photos the most.
Even if you hadn’t been lucky in the casino, I would say you’d won. What a beautiful day!
I loved eating all of the desserts on our cruise. I hope you enjoyed your trip.
You seem to be having such an amazing time on the cruise! The food, the activities, the sights. It all seems so wonderful!
I haven’t been on a cruise yet, so I don’t know my favorite thing to eat. But all the things you posted look divine.
How crowded is the cruise this time of year? I always wanted to do one during spring break.
Hi Kris,
I was told the ship was at capacity… around 3,000 guests, but it didn’t feel crowded at all. There was tons of room for everyone and I would not have even guessed that it was a full ship had I not been told. Hope that helps!
You really do have a lovely life. I have enjoyed following along on your travels and have almost decided a cruise I must try haha. The food looks amazing but to just sit back blog and enjoy the view sounds devine.
Oh my goodness, those photos are absolutely beautiful! I need a vacation ASAP! Not to mention, that food looks AMAZING!
That sound so grand and you all look like you’re having a fabulous time! Cruise is definitely on our bucket list. Happy, safe travels!
Gorgeous, gorgeous sunset! Thanks for sharing these lovely photos!
I LOVE looking at ports. It reminds me my home town in the Philippines especially sailing for another city. It looks like your family had the best time.
Next time you go on a cruise, can I hide in your suitcase? lol I have a feeling when we do get to go on a cruise I am going to be spending more time sampling the menus than anything else. lol
I’ve docked in ensenada before. It surprised me how much smaller the ceilings are in the buildings there. Not a place for a tall person. Have you ridden in those glass bottom boats? I love cruising!
I bet that was a really fun trip. It sure looks nice.
Oooh, that looks wonderful! I think the favourite part, for me, would be the food 😛
I’m a big foodie.
