The past few months we have updated 75% our home, we have just a few things left to do. It was built in the mid 2000’s and it was time to make some changes. One of those was the decor. Finding affordable and stylish designer advise and products used to be difficult to find (as I learned the hard way), but not anymore thanks to Decorist, who is sponsoring this post.

When we returned from our vacation to Turks & Caicos last fall we were inspired to make changes to our home. Pretty much we wanted to bring a piece of our vacation home with us, which I’m sure many people want to do. We had been talking about this update for awhile, but this is what got us to finally do it!
We started by removing all of the carpet in our home and replacing it with hard wood floors. Then it was time to add some color. We’ve had a neutral beige for years and we went way out of our comfort zone and added yellows, blues, grays and a blue-green color that we just adore. Longtime readers have noticed the backgrounds in my pictures changing, but new readers might not have noticed anything different… although at home it’s been a huge change that we are so happy about!
I really feel like when you are in love with your home you are generally more productive and happier in all aspects of your life.
I didn’t realize just how great of a change an update like this makes, until we went through this update. Once all the flooring and paint was done we started working through the decor. I kind of thought we would just go buy furniture and be done with it… and then I started to look at furniture and accent pieces and I soon realized it was going to be a challenge. I have a definite sense of style and I know what I like, but piecing it all together is a different story. I needed expert advice.

At the moment I am completely happy with the way my apartment is decorated–besides I have a cat who keeps “re decorating” it for me!! No sense in me even thinking about it now.

We put in hardwood floors a few years ago, and really love them. They make such a huge difference! I’d like to try a new color scheme, too, but need a push in the right direction to get it done.

What a great service that would make redesigning a room so much easier! Tell you what If I could redesign a room, it would be our living room. We have 2 focal points and I just don’t know how to design the room to be comfortable, functional and comforting.

This sounds like a wonderful service thst I’ll need one of these days. We want to put hard wood flooring done. I’m ready to ditch the bone walls but not sure what color I would go with. I also want to a latex based paint. It seems to cover the walls better. Plus, it’s easier to clean up.

Living with an architect/designer, I learned first hand how much of a difference colors on the walls besides white or beige can make on your attitude. People are always amazed when they walk into our home at how nice it looks, especially compared to the outside (which needs some work and is a lot more cash intensive than interior stuff) and a site like this can help.
