The past few months we have updated 75% our home, we have just a few things left to do. It was built in the mid 2000’s and it was time to make some changes. One of those was the decor. Finding affordable and stylish designer advise and products used to be difficult to find (as I learned the hard way), but not anymore thanks to Decorist, who is sponsoring this post.

When we returned from our vacation to Turks & Caicos last fall we were inspired to make changes to our home. Pretty much we wanted to bring a piece of our vacation home with us, which I’m sure many people want to do. We had been talking about this update for awhile, but this is what got us to finally do it!
We started by removing all of the carpet in our home and replacing it with hard wood floors. Then it was time to add some color. We’ve had a neutral beige for years and we went way out of our comfort zone and added yellows, blues, grays and a blue-green color that we just adore. Longtime readers have noticed the backgrounds in my pictures changing, but new readers might not have noticed anything different… although at home it’s been a huge change that we are so happy about!
I really feel like when you are in love with your home you are generally more productive and happier in all aspects of your life.
I didn’t realize just how great of a change an update like this makes, until we went through this update. Once all the flooring and paint was done we started working through the decor. I kind of thought we would just go buy furniture and be done with it… and then I started to look at furniture and accent pieces and I soon realized it was going to be a challenge. I have a definite sense of style and I know what I like, but piecing it all together is a different story. I needed expert advice.

I will have to look further into this to see how it compares to hiring an Interior Designer. I do offer an eDesign service as part as my design offerings, but I make my client profile a bit more in depth to really get their taste, style and lifestyle. It is more than just a pretty room to satisfy a client’s needs in the long run

I am currently trying to makeover my living room. It is so hard to pick a color theme to go with. I love to redecorate it is always nice when i am all done.

Yea, especially now that I work from home … I notice that shabby surroundings really wear on me.
I just got new carpet and am considering some other improvements. It feels scary because the price tag on all of it is very high. I guess that’s more motivation to get fired up about my online business 🙂

I love to redecorate as well. It’s amazing how little you can do and what a big difference it makes (new pillows, couch covers, decor, etc).
