My 5 Minute Makeup Routine

I remember pre-kid days when I would spend upwards of an hour or two getting ready each day. From full make to perfect hair, I was always on point. Then I got pregnant with Maddie and things changed overnight. I think that for some of us pregnancy really helps to shift you into a different gear and mind set, at least it did for me!

I remember waking up one day and staring at the clock knowing that I had an hour to be at work and I still had to shower, get ready and actually drive there. In a moment of panic I knew that the “getting ready part” was going to need a major overhaul and I had to prioritize. That was the day that I created my 5 minute makeup routine and I’ve been fine tuning it since then.

My makeup routine now is to apply some sort of coverage on after I apply sunblock all over my face, then blush, and a lip color. Since I have eyelash extensions I don’t have to worry about mascara or curling my eyelashes. That saves so much time… but I am still always on the look out for ways that I can cut this routine down even more.20160608_114844

Maddie is really into makeup too, so we often are buying new products.

Last week, we went into Ulta to see what was new and we found bareMinerals’ Complexion Rescue. When I saw that it combined powerful hydration, sun protection and dewy sheer-to medium coverage all in one product I was sold. This would cut my routine down yet again! Who knows… at this rate I might even be able to add blow drying my hair back into the schedule. I kid, there is no way I have the time or patience for that! Complexion Rescue is the best of a BB cream, CC cream and tinted moisturizer, and it is my new favorite makeup product that gets me going even faster during those busy mornings.

When it comes to actually applying my makeup, 95% of the time it is done in the passenger seat of my car while Pete is driving. I am totally okay with that too. I keep my makeup bag in the car and get it done on the go. That is multi tasking at it’s best. If I am the one driving the car then I do it either before I start driving, or in the parking lot of wherever I am going. I know that there are so many other moms out there that are doing the same thing. I see and salute you all at school drop off and in the line to get coffee in the morning. We are doing what needs to be done while still looking our best in the five minutes we have each day.

I love bareMinerals Complexion Rescue for many reasons, including that it is a hydrating gel cream for thirsty skin and offers skincare benefits and radiant coverage in one. Plus Complexion Rescue comes in 10 shades and offers mineral-based broad spectrum SPF 30 for sun protection. I was so happy to see that there was even one for people with pale skin like me! It has been keeping me looking refreshed and radiant from morning to evening, and through everything in between, even when sleep has been hard to come by the past few nights!
