We just got back from an awesome getaway to Disneyland to enjoy all fun happening during the Summer of Heroes and we decided to turn it into a staycation by spending the night at one of our favorite hotels, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa in a newly remodeled room! Thank you to Disneyland Resorts for hosting our adventure.

After a fun filled day in the parks, it is so nice to be able to walk right into your hotel and do some relaxing before going back in for more fun. At least that is always our plan when we are staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa! With an entrance to the hotel directly off Disney California Adventure Park, it is a favorite among Disneyland vacationers. We personally love the minute you step foot inside the impressive lobby.

You feel like you are transported into a luxurious mountain lodge.

The whole resort is finishing up a huge renovation and updating and the lobby has already started the transformation. Even with a small section draped off, it doesn’t take away from that magical arrival feeling.

I’m so excited to show you our updated room! I can’t count how many times we have stayed here and it just keeps getting better! We even had some pixie dust sprinkled in our room in the form of a sweet little welcome gift. I love how Disney thinks of everything!

The first thing I noticed about the room was the new artwork.

Having grown up in Orange County myself, I loved how there was a nod to the old orange groves that used to grow here. It flows perfectly with the craftsman designs.

Of course, the kids were not as interested in these details as I was. They loved the comfy beds, pull out couch, and the balcony overlooking the pool area.

The bathrooms too are fresh and new with an upgraded shower that we loved. It has an awesome rain shower head!

My favorite H2O toiletries are still offered which makes me happy!

Loved this view! The kids ended up staying in the park until it closed at midnight and Pete and I headed back to the room a bit earlier and had a drink while relaxing on the balcony.

In the morning we were especially thankful for the new in-room coffee makers stocked with k-cups!

And there are refrigerators now in all the rooms which are great for storing drinks and light snacks for the kids and us parents too!

We all had a great night sleep, although Emmy obviously had the best! She and baby Groot went everywhere together while we were there!

During our little vacation, we had the pleasure of eating at the Storytellers Cafe.

It is one of our favorite places to eat and we normally only go during breakfast, but this time we were lucky enough to enjoy both dinner and breakfast there. Both times they were serving the buffet, and it was delicious. The buffets here have so many great choices!

I had to share my breakfast because I was so excited when it was served to me. Because Maddie and I follow a vegan diet, the chef always prepares the vegan offerings for us, and on multiple occasions, people see these and order them even if they aren’t vegan.

The top picture is the vegan omelet with hash browns and veggies. The bottom photo is the vegan (and gluten-free) waffles. I could eat this breakfast every day for the rest of my life and still love it just as much as I do today!

After breakfast, we had a few hours until check out so we headed down to the pool area. The whole area has definitely been updated, but it still has that same awesome feel it had before.

The big hit in the pool area was the slide! Em went down it over and over again!

There are three pools, a jacuzzi, and a children’s pool too. Along with plenty of relaxing chairs, there are lifeguards watching over in every direction.

After a quick stop in the room for Emmy to shower, we were on our way back home. We packed in so much fun over those two days and we can’t wait to go back.

Here is a video room tour we did. Isn’t the room nice!

What is your favorite thing about staying at a hotel?
