STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance Review with Pete and Heather Reese

Pete and I had another one of our Disney date days last week for the media preview of STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance (thank you, Disney, for inviting us) and we could only think of one thing the whole time…

THE KIDS ARE GOING TO LOVE Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance!

Yep, we spent the day together and we talked about the kids the whole time. That isn’t surprising really, because between talking about our girls, and our work, there is little time for other conversations, but what is surprising is the guilt I felt that they were not with us. That is because they are 100% going to full-on love STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance and your kiddos will too!

STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance new merchandise

Before I get deep into the actual attraction, there is of course new merchandise and food available too! I was super happy to see the Ronto Roasters Ronto-less Garden Wrap. I asked and was told that it is marked as plant-based and that it will be for sure vegan (even the pita bread that can sometimes have dairy). Yay!

Now, let’s go to a galaxy far, far away… Batuu!

We love everything about this land and STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance just elevates the whole experience.

STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance First Look

And it is just that… an experience.

From start to finish, it is about 15+ minutes long. This is completely unlike any attraction you may have experienced before because even the waiting areas and lines you will walk through are part of the excitement as you join a climactic battle between the Resistance and the First Order.

STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance Inside The Attraction

Without sharing too many spoilers, here is what you need to know about the attraction and also a bit when it comes to taking your kids to see and experience it.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is an interactive story featuring a battle between
the First Order and the Resistance, with Kylo Ren featured.

You start your journey aboard a full-size transport shuttle where you are faced with a situation that “forces” you into a nearby Star Destroyer.

What I have found to best describe it is that it is like having five attractions in one.

Each part of this could have easily been a stand-alone attraction.

For kids, it is not too scary and it all moves fast enough to hold their attention. I think kids will really love that so many of their favorite Star Wars characters make lifelike cameos throughout it too!

STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance Inside

As you work your way through the queue to all the different parts, there are a few places to sit down and there are also QR codes that are integrated with the Play Disney Parks mobile app.

When you use the Play Disney Parks app in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you can transform it into your very own Star Wars Datapad. Using the app provides new opportunities to engage with the land, such as translating a galactic language or learning what’s hidden inside crates and containers. In addition, you can use the Play Disney Parks app to interact with elements in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including droids, blinking door panels and antenna arrays. Throughout the day, you can also participate in a multiplayer game throughout the land, “Outpost Control,” to support either the Resistance or the First Order.

STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance Storm Troopers

This was Pete’s favorite part of STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance… and I know it will be for the kids too!

STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance First Review

You truly won’t believe how realistic this all feels.

I had to remind myself a couple of times that it wasn’t real!

Getting on STAR WARS: Rise of the Resistance

Also, all of these pictures I shared are not in order. There is a really cool storyline throughout the whole thing and I don’t want to give it away so I mixed it all up!

Be sure to look all around while you are experiencing it because there are a lot of extra things added that I only saw the second time we went through.

All in all, I would give this 10 stars out of 10… and I’ve only given out this rating once before for Pandora. I have to say that I didn’t think anything could top that, but this really did. I would go so far as to say that you should head to Disneyland just for this alone. It is that good!

Also, how adorable is this picture?

I love how this new land really has become such a special place for Star Wars super fans and Disney fans alike.

It feels like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, really completed Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. With the food and beverage options and now both attractions complete, it is a home run for the whole family!

  • We were at Disneyland in the beginning of February and loved this attraction so much that we went 3 days in a row! It was amazing and totally worth the longer waits. Our son and his cousins loved the ride as much as the adults. We have been to Disneyland Paris, Disneyland Tokyo, Disney World and now Disneyland and we also rated this the number 1 ride.

    • I am so happy to hear that you loved it as much as we did! It sounds like we also need to catch up with you and see some of the parks outside the US!
