Why Mom Self-Care Is So Important For The Whole Family

Taking care of yourself when you are a mom is so important, yet we often put our own self-care to the bottom of our to-do list. Today I'm sharing why taking care of yourself is important to your whole family. I’m so happy to be partnered with CVS to share all about their MinuteClinic and how it can keep you healthy. Disclosure: I’m proud to be working with CVS Pharmacy for their 2017 influencer relations program. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers

You guys know that this is crunch time for moms with Thanksgiving and then Christmas… the holidays are crazy busy and crazy fun! That means now is the time to make sure that we moms are at peak performance for these super fun family memory making times!

To me, that means acknowledging that we, as parents, more often than not, put our own health on the back burner so we can focus on our families. That needs to change.

As a busy woman, when trying to balance family and work with the many other roles I play, it isn't always easy to find the time to take care of yourself. Thankfully MinuteClinic saves the day again by offering services to support women's health care needs when we are not able to get to our primary provider or OB/GYN provider.

Did you know that CVS practitioners provide a wide variety of convenient women's services?  Based on your personal needs, the practitioners will review your medical history during your time with them and will provide consultation or care to meet your needs. This can be anything from a prescription to treat a urinary tract infection or counseling to help you choose a birth control method.

Plus, getting in to see your practitioner is easy. You can hold your spot from at home or just go to your local MinuteClinic to be seen.

To take care of myself, I know that the best way to feel my best is to be seen before there is an issue. So, even if there are no immediate health concerns, it’s always important to “know your numbers” regarding heart health and CVS makes it easy to get your blood pressure evaluated and to understand what your numbers mean.

According to the American Heart Association, 1 in 3 American adults has high blood pressure or hypertension. Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, heart failure or kidney failure. That is why you need to know this!

CVS MinuteClinic is also for those pesky skin irritations and conditions that you may not know where to go for treatment. CVS MinuteClinic nurse practitioners can take a look at things like acne, hair loss, rosacea, athlete’s foot, and more.

When was the last time you took a moment to think about taking care of you? Don't put mom behind everyone else anymore. We want to be there for our families and that means we have to take care of ourselves and to make that a priority!

How are you taking care of yourself?

  1. Self-care is the most important things we can do for ourselves AND our families. Whether you’re a wife, husband, mother, or father, if you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of the ones you love.

  2. This is a great reminder that I also need to take care of myself. I think a day at the spa is in order for some me time to relive some stress.

  3. I’ve never heard of Minute Clinic before! For kids that are little, it’s important for both parents to keep themselves well, and most times parents put their kid’s health ahead of their own.

  4. There’s nothing better than taking care of yourself so you can take care of the people that you love. Self Care is even more important when you’re mom because you have people depending on you!

  5. As a mom, we often overlook our health and our well being when it’s really important that we pay attention to how we feel. I think it’s really good to make sure that your in top shape! You’re taking care of your family after all.

  6. Sounds like a great solution for the often forgotten Mom’s, usually busy running kids here and there. Time to stop and take care of the Mom too.

  7. If mama isn’t happy, ain’t no body happy! Oh how true that is! The same goes for mamas health that’s why we love Minute Clinic!

  8. Taking care of yourself is so important. Moms can’t take care of everyone else if they aren’t taking care of themselves.

  9. It is easier to scoot our own needs to the back burner. Trouble is, if mom and dad wear out, who is going to keep up the pace? Gotta take care of us too.

  10. You are so right. As a mom, it seems like we put ourselves in the back seat of everything. I am guilty of doing this, putting off a doctors appointment because it will take away too much of my precious time I could spend doing something else for my family. I am glad that Minute clinic is always available. I really hate long lines and waiting so this would be the best route for me to take to start taking care of myself more.

  11. Look happy wife happy life. Mom health is super important because they go into overdrive for everyone else but moms have to have the self care to continnue.

  12. Mom self-care is so vitally important for the whole family. I often say that Mom is the glue that keeps the family together and if she is off – the household is off. Great post for a reminder that I need to take care of myself too!

  13. Love this! If we don’t take care of ourselves, we can’t take care of the ones we love. AND we cheat ourselves. We deserve to have some time for ourselves.
