Why Didn’t We Do This Sooner?

We have big news in the Reese household.

As much as it would be fun to announce a new little Reese family member, it isn’t that. Ha! And although that would be the best news anyone ever shares, we added our last member 8 years ago. Today our big news is that we moved!

Before you start to mourn our happy San Diego home, we aren’t saying goodbye to it forever. Right now we have some also happy family members staying in it.

We have set off on a new adventure at the beach.

Until next summer, we are living steps from the ocean. The crazy thing is that this whole new experience started for us all within about a weeks time.

For the past year, we have been looking to purchase a beach house.

We thought we knew for sure where we wanted to buy. The people were so friendly, the water beautiful and there was so much to do. That is when I started thinking that maybe we should look a little bit farther south than Encinitas. We spent some time looking and just couldn’t find anything we loved enough to buy.

A week ago Pete and I both realized that we don’t know for sure where we want to buy and that maybe we should think about renting to know for sure. Ashley jumped on her phone and found a house that checks almost all of the boxes and we did a quick drive by of it.

A couple days later we saw the inside, signed a lease and here we are, barely a week later getting all settled in!

We all have different things that we are most excited about living with living here. For me, it is all about going for walks on the beach…miles and miles and miles of walks. Walking has always been my absolute favorite thing to do when I need to relax, energize, and be my healthiest. Where we lived before was walkable, but not my style of walkable. I know this is going to be the perfect place for me in that way and many others. Pete loves the water and is looking forward to getting some surfing in. The girls are all thrilled about enjoying the beach, and a town to walk to for food and fun.

So far, our travel schedule hasn’t changed much.

We had originally thought we would slow down a bit to spend more time here, but as usual, right after we talked about this we added two more trips to our calendar over the coming months.

Today we did work/schoolwork and then to a break to watch dolphins playing in the waves with the surfers.

So that is where we are today, literally and figuratively.

I’m already so inspired even though it is our first week here!

Let’s talk about this! Re-tweet and share your thoughts here:

  • That is great! I am a beach girl stuck in OH. Cape May, NJ is my beach home away from home and where my family lives so I get to visit often. There is nothing like a walk on the beach in early morning. So peaceful. I can’t wait to live at the beach again someday.
