Why Didn’t We Do This Sooner?

We have big news in the Reese household.

As much as it would be fun to announce a new little Reese family member, it isn’t that. Ha! And although that would be the best news anyone ever shares, we added our last member 8 years ago. Today our big news is that we moved!

Before you start to mourn our happy San Diego home, we aren’t saying goodbye to it forever. Right now we have some also happy family members staying in it.

We have set off on a new adventure at the beach.

Until next summer, we are living steps from the ocean. The crazy thing is that this whole new experience started for us all within about a weeks time.

For the past year, we have been looking to purchase a beach house.

We thought we knew for sure where we wanted to buy. The people were so friendly, the water beautiful and there was so much to do. That is when I started thinking that maybe we should look a little bit farther south than Encinitas. We spent some time looking and just couldn’t find anything we loved enough to buy.

A week ago Pete and I both realized that we don’t know for sure where we want to buy and that maybe we should think about renting to know for sure. Ashley jumped on her phone and found a house that checks almost all of the boxes and we did a quick drive by of it.

A couple days later we saw the inside, signed a lease and here we are, barely a week later getting all settled in!

We all have different things that we are most excited about living with living here. For me, it is all about going for walks on the beach…miles and miles and miles of walks. Walking has always been my absolute favorite thing to do when I need to relax, energize, and be my healthiest. Where we lived before was walkable, but not my style of walkable. I know this is going to be the perfect place for me in that way and many others. Pete loves the water and is looking forward to getting some surfing in. The girls are all thrilled about enjoying the beach, and a town to walk to for food and fun.

So far, our travel schedule hasn’t changed much.

We had originally thought we would slow down a bit to spend more time here, but as usual, right after we talked about this we added two more trips to our calendar over the coming months.

Today we did work/schoolwork and then to a break to watch dolphins playing in the waves with the surfers.

So that is where we are today, literally and figuratively.

I’m already so inspired even though it is our first week here!

Let’s talk about this! Re-tweet and share your thoughts here:

  • Wow! How pretty!! You definitely have to do a beach house tour in the future 🙂 Would love to see how you dec the place out.

    • That is a great idea! It is half furnished with our things and theirs, so an interesting mix LOL… but it would be fun to show it all off!

  • Beach life is awesome! Right after I finished college I moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for “the summer.” That summer turned into about 14 months and it was amazing!

    • I’m afraid we will be having the same “problem”, Katie. It is going to be REALLY hard to leave. I’ve heard that the Outer Banks are beautiful! We need to go!

  • Wonderful! We moved to a house on the water three months ago and it’s an amazing experience! Enjoy!

  • Coming from someone in CT where it is supposed to get below freezing tonight, I am JEALOUS!!!!!! I’m in your November Blogging Blastoff course, though, so hoping with a few years of hard work, I can earn the money that my family can be enjoying the beach anytime we want too! 🙂

  • The beach is my happy place. Just got back from Cabo and it was beautiful. I love to wake up to the sun rising over the ocean. So happy for yall.

  • That’s so great! What amazing memories you will be able to make as a family! I hope to do the same with my family someday! Congratulations!!!

  • Congratulations, what an exciting adventure!! It snowed where I live yesterday and I hope to move to the beach someday too! Enjoy!

  • That is great! I am a beach girl stuck in OH. Cape May, NJ is my beach home away from home and where my family lives so I get to visit often. There is nothing like a walk on the beach in early morning. So peaceful. I can’t wait to live at the beach again someday.

  • That is so awesome!! I love the white sands and beautiful blue waters. My family went to Panama City Beach last year and to think of how it is now is heart breaking. But being there sealed my desire for a beach house. Please do a house tour!!???????????? Congrats.

  • What a beautiful place to come home to after traveling the world. Love my hometown beach. #delmarnative

  • My dream right now is to get well. I have cancer and right now I want to get cancer number 2 in remission. Cancer number 1 will be in remission 2 years March 2, 2019.
