Traveling and vacations in general are always better with a touch of home.

Pete and I have a couple tips that we always go back to for both work and leisure travel. These tips help us enjoy our vacation adventures and work trips more and make us feel more at home where we are staying.

1. Food always makes you feel more at home no matter where you are. Bring some of your favorite snacks with you and some bottled waters. I am a water snob and I have a favorite brand that I love to drink. I always bring a few bottles with me and some nuts and dried fruit to snack on. If you are in a hurry during the mornings of your stay makes sure to stay at a place with a good breakfast offering too!

Country Inns & Suites has an awesome complimentary, hot “Be Our Guest Breakfast” served every morning with rotating, hot options served on (non-disposable) real dining ware including build-your-own omelets, breakfast burritos, waffles & more! They also have grab and go options if you have to rush out the door!

2. Pack comfort items. I have a laptop desk that I never leave home without. I can write in bed with it or sit in a comfy chair to get my work done. I bring it everywhere. Consider things that you can bring that make your life easier and pack them too!

3. Make sure you are staying somewhere with all the amenities you need. Pete and I need wi-fi  so we really appreciate that Country Inns & Suites offers it for free! Pete also needs a fitness center and business center (for printing) and they have that too! You can even get a free weekday newspaper.

The kids care most about the pool and my oldest loves that there is a Read It & Return Lending Library offered at Country Inns & Suites who has partnered with Penguin Random House to offer a wide selection of book titles for guests to borrow & return at their leisure!

Country Inns & Suites also offers complimentary cookies & coffee in the lobby and most rooms include a refrigerator and microwave. They offers services and amenities that help guests feel at home, and experience a welcoming and relaxing stay.

I had you at cookies and coffee though didn’t I?

Business travelers can enjoy all the comforts of home on the go because Country Inns & Suites is a comfortable place to unwind and still stay productive while on the road… The Rest Comes Easy

  • Part of the comfort of home is that things you need are available and accessible. It can’t be a huge ordeal to get what I need or I’m turned off. It sounds like Country Inns and Suites has all the right stuff right where you need it.

  • The Lending Library is a great idea! My kids always veg out in front of the tv when we’re at a hotel. Reading is a great alternative!

  • These are some important tips. I didn’t realize that all hotels don’t offer free wi-fi until I ran into a situation where I didn’t have it. Needless to say I ended up having a long vacation.

  • Here’s a funny thing about this hotel chain. I DID bring my own comfort item – my beloved pillow, and would you believe I left it there? I STILL miss that darn pillow! I actually do like that hotel chain quite a bit.

  • I am appalled that this day in age all hotels don’t have free wifi…..but they don’t.

  • The places we’ve stayed that had free w-fi and free breakfast are my favorites. My kids wake up starving, so I always have to feed them first and heading downstairs in our PJ’s to get breakfast always makes the stay that much more enjoyable!

  • I love to travel where I can feel at home more. We love when there is free breakfast and free wi-fi. Both of those things are important to me! I love Country Inn and Suites I have used them a few times! They are a great company

  • I’m usually right at home if I’m near a coffee house lol. I guess that goes along with comfort items. Believe it or not but I take my little coffee pot everywhere even though motels have them in the rooms. Thanks so much for sharing, these are some really great tips.

  • What a great post! I love your ideas 🙂 I will definitely keep these ideas in mind.

  • The waffles in your post look awesome. Plus, you had me at cookies. I kinda wish that hotels had softer beds. I have a bad back and I usually hurt more when I travel.

  • They always do have such nice dining and lounging areas. They feel like a home away from home.

  • Loyalty program helps you a lot if you travel often and worth the to be a member.Though I like to try new hotels every now and then.

  • One thing that is a must when staying at a hotel is the hot breakfast. I need a good meal in the morning, and when it is free with our stay I would usually stay t here.
