Have you ever had a less than perfect day, then you heard your favorite song, and the day completely turned around… or at least your mood did? This happens to me more than I can count. I start to feel down over a stressful day, and then suddenly I hear a good song and my whole mood shifts. It’s one of the best emotional boosters ever! Since my girls were born, I’ve been sharing my love of music with them too. I’m happy to say that they are well versed in all sorts of music. From classical to 80’s and everything in between. None of us have met a genre of music we haven’t liked.

I feel that by providing them with an early love of music, I am opening up so many extra doors for them. Maddie has taken her love of music beyond just listening to it, and even plays guitar. Our local school district doesn’t teach it anymore so she had to take lessons outside of school. This made me happy for her, but sad for other kids that could benefit from more music in their lives, but that didn’t have the same opportunity that she has.

When I heard about the partnership between Spotify and Kealing Middle School in Austin, I was thrilled. Spotify is a community of people that care about, and believe in, the power of music…just like we do.

Kealing Middle School really wanted their own music studio. Spotify believes in giving back and the power of music, so they donated materials to build a music studio at Kealing Middle School. The materials that were donated came from the Spotify House at SXSW.

How cool is that?!

I get all worked up with excitement just looking at this awesome music studio. The colors and all the technology make this state of the art and perfect for budding musicians to really get a feel for the industry. This allows them to start creating their own unique sounds and styles.

The best thing is that Spotify wants to bring music to students everywhere.  This is just the beginning.  Click here to learn more!

  • We are big into music in our house. I love that my boys both play instruments.

  • Music education is so important. Not only is great for the brain, but it is an amazing bonding and sharing experience. I love this partnership with Spotify, thanks for sharing.

  • Music is incredibly important to the human condition. It fills us with emotion, and studies have shown that children who participate in music programs do better in school across the board.

  • Music expresses the soul! We are totally into lots and lots of music in our house. It calms our family and inspires random dance parties.

  • Music in schools and at home is so important. My kids really love music and my oldest enjoys playing instruments too.

  • It’s so cool that Spotify helped them build their studio! They’re going to have such an awesome music program from now on!

  • We are big supporters of music. Our son is a musician and so we agree that music is so important and beneficial for a wide variety of reasons. Thanks for sharing!

  • Music has helped me cope with a lot of things, even when I was a child. I love listening to music and in return, I made sure that my girls love music just as much as I do. This is a great way to develop a child’s interest in music whether it’s playing an instrument or mixing tunes.

  • What an awesome thing from Spotify! It looks a little small for a whole music program, though. I wonder how the school makes sure all the kids get the opportunity to experience it? I love what they are doing here.

  • I am a huge music lover as in it HAS to be playing all of the time. Plus my daughter plays violin & is in 4 different groups at school so yeah, we are into it 😉

  • Spotify is doing great things with kids!! It makes me love them even more especially in a time when music and arts classes are being put on the back burner.

  • Those are some nice music rooms, the walls look tight enough to preserve audio. Recently, I’ve used Spotify more than any other music application and I don’t mind the cons of their free services because the audio quality’s just right!

  • How absolutely cool is this!?! I had no idea that Spotify partnered with schools and helped turn dreams into a reality. We were lucky and had the opportunity to play sports, instruments, and even sing while growing up … I am trying to give my daughter the same opportunities but it can be difficult when you can’t find anyone that offers these services. Wow, just wow… fantastic!

  • That’s an awesome music studio! Looks very comfy too. I absolutely love music! I don’t think I could live without music.

  • I have to admit… I do love music but, I love hearing it from my kids. My middle two play the piano and just listening to them practice calms my spirit. I normally have the radio on for background noise because it can be lonely sometimes to be alone in this big house. LOL!!

  • This is awesome. I get so sad when I see music and other programs getting cut from schools out there. Love that Spotify helps out with music education like this.

  • The music studios are incredible! What a great opportunity for kids. Music is very important. My children have always been involved in band and at home they took piano lessons. My children are familiar with Spotify, but I’m not. I’m going to click the link above to learn more!

  • The music studios are so beautiful and incredible.. I can’t believe that spotify did this.. Music is so important… my kids love all kinds of music and I could not imagine a world without music

  • Music runs in my family’s blood! My dad is an amazing guitarist and is teaching my daughters his amazing talent.
