Have you ever had a less than perfect day, then you heard your favorite song, and the day completely turned around… or at least your mood did? This happens to me more than I can count. I start to feel down over a stressful day, and then suddenly I hear a good song and my whole mood shifts. It’s one of the best emotional boosters ever! Since my girls were born, I’ve been sharing my love of music with them too. I’m happy to say that they are well versed in all sorts of music. From classical to 80’s and everything in between. None of us have met a genre of music we haven’t liked.
I feel that by providing them with an early love of music, I am opening up so many extra doors for them. Maddie has taken her love of music beyond just listening to it, and even plays guitar. Our local school district doesn’t teach it anymore so she had to take lessons outside of school. This made me happy for her, but sad for other kids that could benefit from more music in their lives, but that didn’t have the same opportunity that she has.
When I heard about the partnership between Spotify and Kealing Middle School in Austin, I was thrilled. Spotify is a community of people that care about, and believe in, the power of music…just like we do.
Kealing Middle School really wanted their own music studio. Spotify believes in giving back and the power of music, so they donated materials to build a music studio at Kealing Middle School. The materials that were donated came from the Spotify House at SXSW.

How cool is that?!
I get all worked up with excitement just looking at this awesome music studio. The colors and all the technology make this state of the art and perfect for budding musicians to really get a feel for the industry. This allows them to start creating their own unique sounds and styles.
The best thing is that Spotify wants to bring music to students everywhere. This is just the beginning. Click here to learn more!
