Family means everything to us and we would like to thank Bay Alarm Medical for sponsoring this post sharing how we take care of those that matter most to us.

Pete grew up in Lancaster Pennsylvania, for our long time readers you all probably know this, but what we haven’t talked about much is that his whole family followed him out west after he moved to Southern California. It started with him moving to San Diego in 1999, and within a short few year,s both his brothers and his parents moved out here. He considers this one of the biggest accomplishments of his life, talking them all into moving here, but it wasn’t that hard, especially once we had children. Family is so important to all of them that I knew they would all want to be a part of our children’s lives. Now that his brothers all have families of their own, I am even happier that we are all close by so that I can be a part of their children’s lives too!

We see Pete’s parents often, and although they still work and have not slowed down in the least, I do worry about the times we are off traveling and can’t be there for them immediately. No matter how good of shape you are in, as you age, your needs change and you depend more on your family. This is actually a consideration for us when we travel and are considering the time we will be away. We don’t want to be apart from our family for extended amounts of time without being able to stop in and check to make sure everyone is doing well.

When we learned about Bay Alarm Medical, we knew this was the perfect solution for us, and it will be even more important to have as Pete’s parent’s age.

Bay Alarm Medical is America’s #1-Rated Medical Alert Systems. It is very easy to use and set up. You just sign up, they mail you the system, and then you plug it in. It is that simple and it is also this simple to use if you need help.

With just a push of a button, Bay Alarm Medical’s trained 24/7 emergency operators will be there to contact family, friends, neighbors and if necessary, your local 911 emergency services.

We set it up at Pete’s parent’s house in less than 5 minutes. We took the main unit out of the box and plugged it in.

My mother in law loves to wear jewelry and always has a necklace on.  She can either wear the around the neck medical alert button as is, and maybe tuck it inside her shirt so her regular necklaces are the only ones visible, or she can slip the alert button onto her necklace that she is already wearing. Either way, she will have it with her at all times when she is home.

The system also comes with a large help button that is meant to provide help when you can’t reach the main unit on the counter. We put this one on a low side table that was reachable from the ground and also on the bottom of the coffee table.

If help outside our family is needed, the system also has a “Vial Of Life” booklet that you can add all of your information for first responders to read. We had it placed next to the device, and then we moved it to the refrigerator because it has magnetic tape on it.

Thankfully, I don’t anticipate them needing to use these buttons, but I can see them wearing the necklace and the bracelet because they are so simple to put on and take off for that extra peace of mind.

Bay Alarm Medical also has a Mobile GPS option that they can use when outside the home if they would like to add on that option too. It is a really nice feeling knowing that no matter where we are in the world, minutes from them or days away, we are helping to make sure they are living a full, carefree life!

Have you considered a medical alert system for your home or a loved one’s home?

  • I love this so much! I think it’s important for adults to maintain their independence as they get older. There’s no reason to leave your home just because you’re getting older.

  • What a wonderful product to have and know that your family members are safe. I love this. I don’t have anyone who could use it right now, but I may in the near future!

  • We had one of these for my grandmother and people thought we were crazy at first, until she fell in the middle of the night and got hurt. They notified everyone on the call list when she hit that button and had an ambulance there within 15 minutes of her pressing the button! So worth it to have

  • Oh wow, that sounds like a really great product! My mother in law recently had a heart attack and we were all just really relieved that my father in law happened to be home and was able to get her the help she needed. This is definitely something to consider!

  • I haven’t considered a service like this just yet, but I do think it is a great idea. We can’t always be there, so it’s nice to know that should our loved ones need extra assistance there are services available to protect them.

  • I would love to get this for my Parents. They spend six months every year in a different Country and I am always worried about them. I will have to share this with my Dad.

  • This is a wonderful service! I would like my parents to have this – my mom is alone most night because my dad travels for work. This would make me feel a little better

  • Whoever thought of this is a genius! This is a product that should be a must-have in homes. We could use the same service here in my country. A lot of folks would benefit from it.

  • There are parents who would rather live and stay in their houses when they get old instead of moving in with their kids. It can cause worries especially when you’re living away. I think this is a wonderful thing to have!

  • These systems are a wonderful thing to have. I know my bestie and his sister we talking about this the other day in regards to getting one for their mother. I am sure it would make everyone feel better.

  • This is a perfect solution for children dealing with aging parents who insist on living in their home. I totally get being comfortable in your home but when it comes to safety it is super important that they can get help immediately if something isn’t right.

  • I love that they kinds of systems can be put in place so older people can still have the freedom to live their lives, but help is always a touch away just in case they need it. It really does offer peace of mind!

  • My mom lives alone and I think it might be time to invest in one of these. She recently fell and it took her a while to get to the phone. If she had one of these around her neck she would’ve felt much more secure. Thanks for sharing this valuable resource with me!

  • That would be great for my mother-in-law. Same as you, we travel a lot and we aren’t always there for her when she needs us. This would give us some peace of mind.

  • This is a great product! I know that my parents will be needing something like this very soon. We check in on them daily, but what about the middle of the night? This would be a huge help

  • I would have loved for my mom to have worn this before she passed away. The last year with her was so scary and she was on her own. This would have given us all peace of mind.

  • Bay alarm medical sounds like something very important to have for your elderly loved one. I am not near my family unfortunately, but I know that my grandmother could use this. I will be looking into this for her.

  • My mom’s neighbor has one of these and it’s saved her life in the past. I think it’s a great idea and if my mom ever needs one, it will be a great investment as far as I’m concerned.

  • This is great. I think my 74 year old mother in law needs one of these. She has a cell phone finally, but now wants to cancel it because she just can’t see using two phones and wants to keep her landline. I think she needs something like this,

  • I love that you can be away and still know is parents are safe! I have many clients (I work with disabled adults) who have these and they’re so much safer because of it!

  • We’ve been considering this for my in laws. They are both in their 80s now and fiercely independent. This would give them their freedom and us some peace of mind.

  • Wow, this is such an awesome product to give an elderly person living alone some peace of mind! I think this item should be in everyone’s house who needs it. It also could be useful for younger people with serious illnesses. Thanks for sharing, I had never heard of this type of product!

  • This is so awesome. many older adults feel they can not be independent anymore and with this they could.

  • I love that there are products out now that can help when you get older. This would be awesome for my parents.

  • I LOVE THIS POST! We’ve been checking into something like this for my mom. She recently sold her home and is currently in a rental but instead of living 5 minutes from us, she now lives 20. Not that I was there 24/7 when she lived 5 minutes away but I felt more at ease knowing that I was right around the corner. She is still very independent but I think about those WHAT IF moments and can’t help but think we should have something in place. This re-upped my need to get moving on this. Thank you!
