overnight staycation palm springs

Pete and I did something pretty crazy a couple weekends ago… we went away for the night without kids.

I know… we are getting wild! But really, I can’t remember the last time we went anywhere without the kids because we really love to take adventures with them. Since it was our 17 year meet-a-versary (I think I just made up a word) we thought it would be great to spend a night with just the two of us for an adults only Spring break.

We dropped off the girls at their grandparents’ house and off we went for a night at partner, DoubleTree by Hilton Golf Resort–Palm Springs

About an hour and a half later we were in Palm Springs! This is the perfect distance for a quick getaway. We were close enough that we could be back to the girls if needed, yet far enough away that it really felt like we were away from it all, and could just relax.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Golf Resort Review

As we pulled up to the DoubleTree by Hilton we knew we were in for a treat. We had already read about the huge refurbishment that they had recently done, and we were thrilled to see what a beautiful resort we would be staying at.

We sprung out of the car and were checked in within minutes. And yes, I did pick up a couple of the famous DoubleTree cookies to enjoy back in our suite! When the girls are with us, they get so excited when we stay at DoubleTree hotels because they are in love with the cookies too. I felt a twinge of guilt enjoying the cookies without them, but it passed quickly….especially when I realized I wouldn’t have to share my cookie with anyone else! Ha!

Pete had other things on his mind… like the gym! He never misses a workout, and because we were not spending a lot of time on our quick spring break trip, he wouldn’t be able to make it to a local CrossFit box. He was really happy to see the extensive gym that they have on property.

We were both in need of a quick snack so we checked out the mini-store in the lobby and also had some refreshing citrus water.

As we made our way to our suite, we also saw the wrap around bar, Mira Bar. I think I am making up the wrap around bar word too… but much like a wrap around deck, this bar was awesome and had plenty of seating and fun bartenders.

And then we stepped foot in our suite. It was BEAUTIFUL!

We even had wine + cheese and crackers waiting for us!

Our 1 King Bed 2 Room Corner Suite was very spacious!

And the view… breathtaking!

This was the point when Pete started to have real regrets that we were only staying one night. He had visions of himself playing golf on this beautiful course and lounging on our balcony as the sun set while sipping a beer or a glass of wine the whole weekend long…

In my vision, I was relaxing by this pool enjoying a bubbly drink and snacking on food pool side. Either way we packed in lot’s of fun in just one night!

First thing I did was to go to the spa. I had an amazing aromatherapy massage while sipping this drink and nibbling on chocolates… Pete tied up some real estate loose ends while I relaxed. We both felt relaxed and ready to have a fun evening. Probably me more than him after having a massage…

The spa is located right next door and a quick 5 minute walk from the lobby. Next time we come back, Pete is going to play a round of golf and I’m going to spend a few hours being pampered! It was that good!

After that, we took a stroll around the grounds. The pool was hopping with families and couples enjoying the warm sunshine and we loved the onsite geese!

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Golf Resort dining options

We worked up an appetite by this point so it was off to dinner for us! Polanco Kitchen, located inside the hotel was fabulous and we enjoyed fresh guacamole and chips, flat bread pizza, and a very unique (and tasty) pasta dish!

Before we knew it, our adults only, Spring break staycation was coming to a close…  so we savored this sunset for as long as we could.

Here is Pete’s video or our staycation…

We can’t wait to visit DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Golf Resort Palm Springs. We might even bring the kids next time… or not!
