Day two brought us a new hotel and a new view of Waikiki!
We are on the other end of Waikiki, and it’s given us a whole different view of the beautiful beaches and more places to explore. Here are some photos of our two bedroom suite to share…
After we settled into our new room, we headed downstairs to the restaurant for lunch. Being vegetarian and vegan on the island has been a slight struggle, not because there aren’t a good supply of fruits and veggies, but because they all seem to be topped with seafood of some sort. Luckily most places have a couple options for us, and we certainly aren’t going hungry. This pesto pasta was delicious!
Shortly after lunch, we headed up to partner, Gunstock Ranch. I will be writing another post on our ride, but you can see from these pictures, that we all had a great time. Emmy and I finished our ride early…just in time for the sky to open with a little tropical rainfall. We loved the sprinkles that fell, Pete and the girls got soaked… and they didn’t mind one bit. Neither did the horses!
One thing I learned yesterday is that Oahu is much bigger than it seems, and that traffic is a real thing here. So plan a lot of travel time. We worked our way from Waikiki closer to the North Shore, and the drive is just beautiful. Going through the mountains was something we all really enjoyed, and then the ride along the coast was breathtaking. The ocean changes colors from blue to green as quickly as the sunsets and the colors in between are just amazing!
Here is a video recap of day 2!
Tomorrow we are headed for a jungle expedition and then to Pearl Harbor. It’s going to be another full day.
Where are you going on your next vacation?
Horseback riding sounds so much fun! I haven’t done that since I was a kid.
Hawaii is a place I can’t wait to visit one day. Whenever I ask my kids where they want to go on vacation they always say Disney or Hawaii.
Wow does this look like a stunningly beautiful place! I would love to visit with my family too.
I love that your hotel room has a full living, dining and kitchen area. Horseback riding is always fun, but I am sure it is even better in Hawaii.

It’s good to know to plan for the heavier traffic. I’ll bet the drives were gorgeous though, as is the hotel room.

I have always wanted to go to Hawaii. I used to know someone at my church who had lived there for a while. After talking to her and seeing all these pictures, it’s definitely on my bucket list.
I would love to go horseback riding in Hawaii. Taking in all of that beauty from horseback would be a dream.
We are actually debating on a taking a family to Hawaii this summer… but also looking at Ireland and Alaska. Need to decide soon… and your post makes me think Hawaii just might be it!
Those rooms are so nice and I love the view. It’s good to see that you were able to find some good vegan menu items.

We’ve got several ideas for the next vacation, but haven’t settled on anything yet. So far, votes are hovering between Hawaii and a cruise to Mexico. It’s fantastic that your family is getting to experience all the fun of Hawaii.
Oahu is my dream vacation. Your pictures are fantastic and they are making me want to go even more. Such a gorgeous location.
This is awesome. I really love the view outside the hotel. Love the seashores and definitely going to try it out myself. I really love the breeze on seashores the heat and wind really suits on my skin plus the relaxing hotel. Argh that feeling I really need a vacation.
I have heard traffic is real there, lol. I am a vegetarian too, so I’m happy to hear that even though it’s a bit of a challenge, it’s still doable to get good eats.
What an amazing trip! We’ve only ever been to Maui and that was on our honeymoon. I love that the hotel was right on the beach – what a view. OUr next trip is during Spring break – we’re going to Washington, DC & Williamsburg, VA with the kids.
My husband went to college in Hawaii and he’s excited for us to go back some day in the future.
The room and the views are gorgeous.
That trip looks like a ton of fun! I would love to visit Hawaii one day.
Horseback riding! That, sunshine and the pasta look like my ultimate dream day. I am glad your family had a great time.
