On Monday night Pete and I had the honor of attending a sneak peek preview party at Whole Foods Del Mar! If you follow me on Twitter you know that I’m super excited about this new store opening! It’s only 5 minutes from our office right off the 5 freeway in the Flower Hill Shopping Center! Even more importantly it’s HUGE and really beautiful!
We started the evening “sampling” some of the local products they carry. The orange slice above was from Escondido and totally delicious! As I move towards a more natural lifestyle knowing where my food comes from is very important. At Whole Foods they believe this is important too and add labels to all the local items to help shoppers make more informed buying disition.
I love how open this store is. I’ve been in quite a few stores before and this one reminds me of the Las Vegas store for it’s openness and bright but mellow feel.
The traditional juice and Gelato bar is front and center and easy to get to so you can get a quick snack and get back on the road!
Pete’s kinda a camera shy guy… but I caught him on camera and I want to talk about his roll in our home going more natural. He’s not a vegetarian or vegan like the rest of us. He likes a good burger and that’s totally okay with me as long as he does it in a responsible and healthy way. Whole Foods has a grading system that explains how the animals were treated prior to slaughter and also info on organics and antibiotic treatment. They also have the same system for their seafood and sustainable practices. Having these types of options helps us make the best decisions for our health and our natural living goals.
This will make many of you extremely excited! They have an in-store wine bar that serves food and has it’s own menu for you to order from too! I saw flat breads that looked amazing. You can also buy food from the hot bar or salad bar and enjoy it in the bar.
Anyone with kids know how important fun distractions can help make a grocery trip more enjoyable. The honey bar is perfect for entertaining the kids… but also a great way to taste some different types of honey. Did you know that different flowers make the honey taste differently… sure does! The honey is also very well priced.
Another fun stop is the peanut butter bar. I don’t like all the extra ingredients sometimes added to peanut butter. What better way to make sure that there is only peanuts in your peanut butter than to grind it yourself.
I want to try the honey roasted peanut butter next time!
Check out all of this organic produce!
The Cheese Bar. Did you know that Whole Foods will custom size your cheese. If you need to have just a small chunk of a certain cheese for a recipe, just ask they will cut it down for you!
And they all have cheat sheets… where it came from, the animal that helped make it, the flavors that are prevalent and wine pairing help! Whole Foods has got your back!
This is a very important section for my family. The vegan and veggie product section. I compared prices with other stores and Whole Foods beat the prices on many items.
Are you a raw food lover? I’m in love with Chia Seed Pudding so I had to snap a picture of their Chia Seeds. Priced very well I might add!
Fresh, local bread! Whole Foods has a new bread that had bacon sprinkled throughout. Can you imagine making a grilled cheese with it. Yum!
I’m a devoted fan of their pizzas so I had to take a picture of the pizza oven! Their veggie pizza is my favorite store bought pizza. The dough the toppings… oh my!
Imagine this hot bar filled with all their yummy food. Or just imagine it filled with their famous mac n cheese. Either way you will have a smile on your face. Can you tell I love to get the mac n cheese for a quick and delicious lunch. I totally do!
Or maybe you are in the mood for a sandwich. They have got you covered there too!
Need some help picking out the healthiest options? Look for this sign above!
It was really fun being able to bring you all inside the new Whole Foods in Del Mar with me and Pete. I can’t wait to go back in now that they are open! Be sure to stop in and check it out… and get some pizza and mac n cheese for me!
Oh my this looks like an absolutely fabulous shopping experience. I wish we had one close by.
Bonnie it really was! More like an experience than just a shopping trip lol! Maybe next time you are traveling you can stop at one!
I’ve been eating much healthier and love shopping at Whole Foods, though I have to be careful to not linger too long at the cheese counter.
Isn’t that the truth! I can’t believe all the options!
I love Whole Foods. I a really excited that one has finally opened closer to us, as well. I’m a grandma with a Vegan grandchild and I’m finding it exciting to create pleasing Vegan “eats”.
