Fall and Halloween are two of my favorite things. Apple pie with the sweet smell of cinnamon and huge pumpkins everywhere make me smile. We go all out for Halloween. Today we are buying costumes and decorating the house. Why not? We realized a couple of years back. Why not decorate now and enjoy the fun longer? The house just seems more festive and lovely when we have all it ready to celebrate…  I’ll be sure to snap some pictures of it in all it’s glory once we get it all set up!

Aside from decorating, we also have traditions that we follow. We visit as many pumpkin patches as possible and we go to “Mickey’s Halloween Party” at least twice. Last year we went 3 times {we are hardcore I tell you!}.

For those of you that haven’t been yet, it’s a must do. The kids love it and they consider it one of the best memories of the season each year. And let’s be honest here. Disneyland knows how to throw a party. You are guaranteed to have a good time… that’s why we never miss it.

How we do it is we go on one of of the first party nights, just the 5 of us and then we go again towards the end, {which is closer to Halloween} and we bring the whole family.  When I mean the whole family I really mean everyone. My parents, Pete’s Parents and all of our siblings, their spouses and kiddos. It’s like a mini family reunion and we all look forward to it.

If you are wondering why this is such a great event, here is why! Mickey’s Halloween Party invites adults and children to dress up in costume and trick-or-treat at Disneyland Park, enjoying candy and healthy treats. These party participants can also arrive before the party to “mix in” with regular Disneyland guests for three hours prior to the start of Mickey’s private bash.

We pretty much all get dressed up {I don’t do the full costume thing, but I still look festive, so don’t worry if it’s not your thing} and we go on the rides, see all the Halloween decorations and go trick or treating! There are trick or treat stations throughout the whole park and the kids have so much fun. The little one isn’t really into candy so it’s great that they have healthier options for here. Those are normally dried fruit and sliced apples. Perfect for her and she still feels like she is getting a treat!

Highlights of Mickey’s Halloween Party include:

  • The “Halloween Screams” fireworks spectacular, hosted by “Master of Scare-omonies” Jack Skellington (presented exclusively for guests of Mickey’s Halloween Party)
  • “Mickey’s Costume Party” cavalcade featuring some favorite characters, performed twice nightly
  • Disney villains arriving amid thunder and lightning to transform Town Square, Main Street, U.S.A., into Villains Square
  • The Cadaver Dans ghoul quartet, performing Halloween-themed tunes aboard a drifting graveyard-themed raft on the Rivers of America
  • An opportunity for everyone in the family to attend the park in costumes
  • Photo locations with some popular Disney and Pixar Pals, and Disney Villains
  • Nearly all the Disneyland rides and attractions, plus Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy
  • Complimentary parking for one standard-size vehicle
  • A fun new feature of Mickey’s Halloween Party is the “Monsters U Dance Party” at Tomorrowland Terrace. Class time is over, and the students of Monsters University join Mickey’s Halloween Party guests in a family-friendly frat party with the most popular students from “Monster’s U,” Mike & Sulley
