You all know we LOVE Disney movies so it will come as no surprise that I was at Walmart bright and early THE day that The Jungle Book movie was released from the vault (Feb. 11, 2014) and that I bought the Diamond Edition! Right? Not surprising at all, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t surprises to be had, like the free lunch box that came with the Diamond Edition {only at Walmart} or that I threw a really fun family movie night for the girls with a jungle theme!
After school, I picked up all the girls and I told them we had to rush home because I had a special night planned. We started the fun early since the little one goes to sleep early and the big girls had the dreaded homework to finish! They said over and over again how cool this was and that it really helped to break up our normally boring weeknight routine! My little one has been using her new lunch box ever since that night too!
The first thing we did once we got home was everyone changed into their pajamas! Movie night parties always call for comfy pajamas. They all put on their favorite Disney ones too! Then they settled in on the couch that was decorated with a faux animal print blanket and some jungle stuffed animals. I brought out the food courses throughout the movie starting with…
Jungle branches with morning dew dip… aka. Peppers, cucumbers and carrot sticks with ranch dressing dip!
Next up was the WILD Veggie Sandwich Rolls! These are perfect to make since they can easily be personalized for each family member. My oldest had one that was vegan, my little one had one that was veggie meat only and my middle daughter had one loaded with veggies!
Ingredients:
- large flour tortillas
- flavored cream cheese {we used chive} or vegan mayo
- lettuce and other veggies of your choice
- veggie meat or the lean meat of your choice
Directions:
- Spread cream cheese or vegan mayo on one side of a tortilla
- Layer meat and then veggies on top
- Slowly roll tortillas and use a toothpick to hold them together.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Slice in half and serve!
Then it was time for HUGE berry bowls!
I called these Berry Mountains and I sprinkled a tiny little bit of sugar on top of them to make them look like they had glistening snow on top!
We all had a really fun night of just being a family together! We plan on doing this for every new Disney movie release! It’s our new family “thing”!
What a fun Jungle Book movie party! I love that all your foods were healthy and fun for kids to eat.
