How to judge when life is good.

So many days pass by without actually stopping and realizing how great life is.

Vacations are the perfect way to regroup and unwind
but it’s not always possible to run away to Vegas like we did a while back.
Instead, we are focusing on getting up and getting moving and creating a little hour long getaways
whenever we can… as we did at Oceanside Harbor here in North San Diego!

Oceanside Harbor is one of those forgotten treasures.
Locals visit for dinner and tourists love how reasonably priced everything is.
We always start our walks on the sidewalk path that leads away from the food and we save eating for after…

Now there are tons of restaurants to eat at…  if you are a fish and chips kinda person you will be in heaven.

Fish + Chips + harbor side dining= Happy people!

There are even a couple of bars. Are you looking for old school everybody knows your name? There’s one for you…
Or are you looking for a Swanky, nobody knows your name wine bar? They’ve got one of those too!

Beach weather is often warm and overcast and that is just fine with me! It gives a nice Jimmy Buffet feel with a So Cal twist!

Sometime’s we even get to hang out with the wildlife! Tell me this guy isn’t ADORABLE! He was snoring. Honest!

One of my favorite restaurants in the harbor… the Jolly Rogers. We haven’t been since the Toddler joined us. She’s still not dependable when it comes to dining in quiet restaurants… but we’ll be back soon!
Want to ride your bike instead… it’s a-okay here…look at these sidewalks, PERFECT for biking!
Let’s be brutally honest. My favorite part of the harbor might be… the frozen banana {yes, I always get rainbow sprinkles… it’s my Dads fault. He always got them for me when I was little and I’m carrying on the tradition for my little ones too}. These are pretty good, but the best ones can be found on Balboa Island in Newport Beach. I don’t think it’s just because I was raised on the Balboa Island ones either… they just taste so good!

  • No Way! Lol, we used to live in Oceanside, but now my husband is stationed on the North end of base so we live in OC.

    • Really? We used to be neighbors {Kinda, I’m not in O’side, farther inland}! Did you live in the Military housing right off the harbor? That is such a nice community! Do you live in San Juan Cap now?

      • Aw, no I don’t live in Del Mar (that’s officer housing). We live in San Clemente. Small world, though!
