Back to school time is one of the most exciting times of year for us. It is all about new beginnings and instilling the joys of learning in our girls. Pete and I often talk about how much we love to learn new things, and that the older we get, the more we realize just how much there is still left to learn. Special thanks to Office DepotĀ® OfficeMaxĀ® for sponsoring this post.
I can tell that this is rubbing off on the girls too because they are starting to say the same things. As much as I would love to spend my days reading and practicing newly learned talents, I happily spend every free moment with our girls. There is nothing I would rather do or place I would rather be than by their sides.
I often wonder if I am doing enough. I think we all feel that way. Back to school time is a great time to gear up for school and inspire our kids to have the best year ever, and I thought this video was the perfect inspiration for me because it shows that every little thing that we do as a parent matters. We need to keep inspiring our kids to be great!
Have you ever wondered how your kids view you? These parents found out and it was awesome to watch!
I couldn’t help but ask my kids the same question, and I’m sharing their responses below. I highly recommend you ask your children too. It was fun to hear what they had to say…
What exactly do you think I ādoā as a parent?
Maddie (16)-
“You give us the tools to be successful.”Ashley (14)-
“You take care of us when we are sick.”Emily (6)-
“You buy us food and keep us healthy and you are very, very, very lovey to us”
Of course my “mom heart” swelled with each of these as it was filled with love. It was fascinating to hear that they see that I am there for them. It was also cool to hear that they understand that I care for them each in different ways based on their needs. Since Maddie is getting ready for college, I am focusing on parenting her, so she is ready for the next chapter in life. For Ashley, her health is always on my mind. She is sensitive to a lot of things and has allergic reactions plus asthma attacks, so I am always keeping my eyes open for triggers. For little Emmy, she loves to cuddle, so I think that “lovey” means hugs and kisses!
Each of our girls are at different parts of their schooling journey, so I need all the help I can get. Thankfully, Office DepotĀ® OfficeMaxĀ® is gearing parents up for great with deals you will want to stock up on!
Oh my gosh, those answers were simply beautiful. It’s so nice to know your kids appreciate you!
I love the answers the kids gave. I think mine would have been similar. . I too always worry if I am doing enough for mine
The kids gave us lovely answers, I’d like to think mine would too – but i’m going to ask them and see. I love this!
I’m inspiring them by encouraging them how great a new year will be and all the adventures that await them!
Aw, what sweet answers from the kids. We used to shop at Office Depot for every back to school season.
Those answers from your kids are awesome. I hope they have a great school year!
Aww. That is so sweet! I hope my daughter would say such kind things about me, too! So heartwarming! <3
We don’t realize how much our children notice what we do for them. The Office Depot video really choked me up.
It is so great to hear your kids what they think you do as a mom! So nice to know that they are paying attention!
I’m not quite sure what my kids would say. I’m going to ask them.
This is SOOO sweet! We already have been back to school for almost 3 weeks already! I wish I knew about this earlier!
What a beautiful, heartfelt campaign! I think I inspire my kids by teaching them to always stand up for their beliefs and that nothing is more important than love and happiness.
It is amazing the things our children teach us about ourselves. I try to inspire my daughter to be the best person she can be. It doesn’t matter what is on the outside but who you are on the inside. Also never let someone else put you down for something you believe in.
The answers your kids gave are so sweet! I would love to know what my kids would say!
Aww! I think supporting and standing up for the kids helps them grow. I do think kids notice how hard we work for them!
Awe… I love it. I have to say that the best way to get kids to do anything is to lead by example and to make things easier on them. If they see that I work hard at what I do, I would like to think they will, as well
Always fun seeing my kids act upon things I have said. Shows me they really listen and are smart to try it my way before not ever giving it a try.
It’s heartwarming to hear how children view their parents. Making sure we enjoy every day and laugh often is inspiring all of us to feel great.
There are times when I ask myself am I doing enough too! I love your children’s answers!
The kids gave us such cute answers!! Iād like to think my son would too !! I loved your post!
WE always have prayer in the morning on the way to school. I ask them if there’s anything they want me to pray for or maybe a friend.
It will always feel like we’re not doing enough because as a good parent, we just want everything possible for our little ones. No matter how big they get!
So I decided to ask my little guys and here’s what they had to say:
Deakin 6 years old- “You be nice to us and daddy!”
Romee 7 years old-“Love your children and you take care of your husband.”
What a sweet video. My favourite school activity the kids do is mothers day and fathers day when they fill out a questionnaire about us. It always makes me tear up.
Great job with your kids. They love you dearly and their answers were adorable. Hope they enjoy the new year
A very touching video (I may need tissues!) and sweet answers from your kiddos. I try and help my daughter be “great” by giving her the support she needs as she starts kindergarten this year while she tries and learns new things.
Those responses are really heartwarming. I’ll have to ask my girls also. I hope I get as lovely as a response as you did š
First of all that video gave me all the feels big time. As far as how I inspire my kids I hope that I lead by example and am encouraging them to live lives of gratitude and to be of service to all those who need help!
I always loved back to school time as a child. Something about new supplies and new beginnings was always fun too. My boys went back to school two weeks ago and they are adjusting well.
My daughter also had to make a huge transition. She had to be in Washington, DC almost two weeks ago too for college orientation. She is so far away from home. I am excited for her but also scared at the same time. Thank goodness for Facebook chat and skype. I can easily connect with her.
I absolutely love this! Isn’t it awesome to know that our kids really do appreciate the things that we do for them, even though it is our job?
We love Office Depot! They have a great sackpack program.
Your kids look adorable. I would like to ask the same questions to my son.
This is a great question to ask the kids. I am so curious what their answer will be.
I try to stay in touch with what my children enjoy. I always want to foster their interests. That way, they can get back to great and be happy with what they are learning!
This is a very heart touching post! Being a mom and a parent is the most rewarding and enjoyable role in life! Such an eye opener to do your best as a parent. Thank you for sharing!
Those are amazing answers!! It really is great to hear how much your kids notice what you do when it seems like they don’t notice at all
I am inspiring my kids to get back to great by giving them confidence to do good in school. I am also encouraging them to try their best.
Thank you for sharing this! Those kids are so wonderful! I just love all the answers they gave.
Only one kids is old enough to be asked this and he didn’t want to play, the little brat haha This is wonderful, you’re kids seem to really love you!
Aww how very sweet. And I love your girls’ answers too!
Back to school time is always filled with lots of excitement and anticipation. Your post has got me thinking what my own kids will say when I ask they what they think of me… I will have to ask them right now.
I love the answers your kids gave you. I know that my kids appreciate the work their father and I do to provide for them and teach them to be good citizens.
Your daughters are such sweet darlings! My kids are not very vocal about stuff like this, but I would really want to know what their responses would be. Wishing your daughters a great school year ahead.
Such a sweet post. Your kids look adorable. xx
That is such a nice video. I will have to ask my son too. Can’t wait to hear what he have to say. š Thanks for the giveaway!
What a wonderful campaign! I love the video as well, so cute!
Your kids are so sweet! Hope they have a great school year!
Back to school is going to be so much fun & keep you busy all the way. I just loved that great answers from the kids, which is amazing & interesting. And that awesome quote from Angela about how our kids teach about life is so true. as well.
I do often wonder how my kids view me. I know that when I was a kid, I had certain ideas about my own parents’ way of parenting so it would be interesting to have an unfiltered view to what my kids think of me.
I always try to support my kids in whatever they want. I often wonder if I do enough for them.
