Five Ways To Start The New Year Off Right

Can you believe it’s just a couple more days till 2016?

This year was awesome and I just know that 2016 will be too! I’ve already started with planning for the new year and I’m ready to get it going, starting with day 1. Here are Five Ways To Start The New Year Off Right!

1. Get some rest now.  I know that this is something that you are told to do over and over again… and we still don’t do it. This year will be different. I figured out that I can be a morning person, and a very good one at that. I always thought I was a night owl, and maybe I could be again, but I’ve also realized that for my lifestyle I need to be a morning person to make sure I get enough sleep. I do this by going to sleep early. I’m generally in bed by nine and asleep shortly after. I wake again at five am so I get approximately 7 1/2 hours of sleep each night. I used to stay up late working and then wake up at 7am… and I never got enough sleep. I’m getting better about setting realistic return times for my work to protect my sleep, and it doesn’t always work out… but it’s much better than it was before.

2. Make a picture board or the like. I tend to just write long lists or jot down ideas, but if you are into picture boards make one of how you want to see your life in the coming year. Do you want to be living in a new home? Have a new job or be healthier? Include it all. You don’t have to have all the answers to how you will do it just yet, start by knowing where you want to be.

3. Plan a vacation. Seriously! So many people don’t take their vacation time that they have available, or don’t use close to all of it. Change that this year.

4. Get rid of the clutter. Both tangible and figurative. Go through your closet and get rid of anything you don’t absolutely love. Do the same with other aspects of your life. If you don’t love the care you are getting from your Doctor, find a new one. If you don’t like the junk food you are eating… stop. Get past all the clutter and focus on what really makes you happy.

5. Take Care of yourself. Take the steps to really make your health a priority. If you are a caregiver this is even more important. You can’t take care of others without taking care of yourself. This might mean buying a new water bottle and creating a system to always keep it with you. Or maybe you know that getting exercise must be a priority this year. Make it happen, no more excuses. Since we all battle allergies, we as a family will be focusing on getting ours under control. I am making a list of all of the triggers for each of our allergies and I will be eliminating them as best as I can… and for those that I can’t avoid, I’ve stocked up on CVS Allergy Relief medications. That way we are all feeling our best for this exciting new year.

  • These are great ideas to start the new year off in the best possible way! My husband suffers from allergies so I know we’ll be stocking up on these Allergy Relief medications! We’re also planning a little vacation soon!

  • You read my mind! I’ve been planning my vacation, resting and getting geared up for the new year. I’m going to start the new year off right. It will be the best year yet.

  • I am trying to take a little blogging break and clear my mind and schedule. It can be hard not to feel bogged down right after the holidays, but the new year is an exciting time!

  • I love these ideas especially the picture board. I am a very visual person so I think this will help me focus a lot. I also love ‘plan a vacation’! I will get started on that now.

  • I still can’t believe it will be 2016 very soon and it’s already December 30th where I am right now. Sigh. I wish I could rest and not have to work on New Year’s Eve. This month just flew by me in a heartbeat. These are all great tips, thank you for sharing them. Wishing you a fantastic 2016!

  • I am looking forward to 2016. I am starting over in the career department and am hoping to start my dream job.

  • Right now my only priority is to get rid of this cold/flu I’ve had for the past 3 days. It had better be gone by the new year!

  • It’s always important to take care of your health. Welcoming the New Year sick is a bad start for me. Creating a list of goals or a visual board is awesome as well!

  • All very good advice especially the clutter part. Go to sleep with clutter and wake up with clutter and your head will be full of clutter all.day.long.

Get rid of the clutter and start your day fresh.

  • I am too excited for 2016, already planned two short weekend getaways and one 2 week long holiday so I am looking forward to that and definitely taking care of myself.

  • I am always planning for a vacation, lol. It keeps me sane and happy, of course, it’s when I’m on the actual vacay. For the coming new year and the years after that, my lifelong goal is to take care of myself …. to stay youthful and healthy. It will entail a lot of work but with discipline, I know I can achieve these.

I wish you all the best in the coming year. More success and more blessings for you.

  • i am doing every last one of these things on this list! I call them visionboard but they work and I always do them at the top of the year!

  • Getting enough rest is what I am doing right now. I enjoy all the holiday get togethers and little vacations, but it does take a toll on our health. I make sure I take my vitamins and recharge by giving my body the rest it needs.

  • I am working on decluttering this week. It makes everything better when all I need is in a place I can find it. It really pays to be organized.

  • totally love all the lists! we’re new in dubai and so i’ve been writing down and planning places to go to in dubai and UAE and some out of the country places for the future! throwing or donating stuffs we need is a must! great lists!

  • These are great tips to start off the New Year right. I do love the idea of a picture board because you are more apt to really think about what you see. I will be doing these tips for sure.

  • We want to get rid of some of our clutter. We also spent a good chunk of last night dreaming and setting goals together. Thanks for a great year in 2015 and looking forward to more great content in 2016! Happy New Year!

  • I’m excited to be more productive in 2016, and to de-clutter my rooms and closets. I’ve accumulated so much over the years that I don’t even know what I own anymore.
