I'm so happy to announce that my partnership with Beneful as part of their #FriendsOfBeneful project. My sweet boy Rufus and I love spending time together outdoors and we are both head over paws excited to share more about Beneful's Dream Dog Parks.

dog park tips and guides

We live on over 4 acres of land, so when we want to play outside together, we just step out our back door. But, it wasn't always the case that we had so much land. When Pete and I first met, he came as a package deal. It was he and his dog that he had in his life since he started college. They had been through a lot together, including a cross country move. At the time they lived in a condo, so dog parks were the place they went to play together and where his dog could run free and be around other dogs. His local dog parks were very important to both of them.

Beneful too believes that dog parks are a special place for dogs and owners to bond and socialize with each other and the community. Over the past five years, they have been helping to build and/or improve dog parks across the country.  The program started out as a contest, and the Beneful team visited one winning community each year and provided a Dream Dog Park renovation. Since then, the program has evolved to bring more joy to more communities across the country. This year their goal is to support a total of 12 parks through donation, service days, and more. Plus, they are now partnering with GoFundMe to help further their mission.

With their new partnership with GoFundMe, it will give dog park organizers a platform to create campaigns for their local dog parks, raise awareness and funds for improvements, or to help increase funding to get a new park off the ground. Pretty cool right?!

They also added a lot of great info to the Beneful website to help guide dog lovers who want to build a dog park, but aren’t sure where to start. To me that is the hardest part. You know you want to help start one, but not sure where to start. Beneful has got you covered there! They also have some really great tips for How to Start a Dog Park From Scratch; How to Renovate Your Fabulous Dog Park; and tips from pet safety expert Arden Moore on Dog Park Etiquette, Sample Dog Park Rules and Dog Park Safety.

Beneful's dedication to their Dream Dog Park program goes even further. Each month, Beneful will select a new GoFundMe dog park campaign to spotlight on their website and on Beneful’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Beneful will provide dollar-for-dollar donation matching support, helping the projects reach their goals. Beneful is currently spotlighting the first Dream Dog Park of the year, Frenchtown Dog Park in St. Louis!

Beneful is also supporting dog parks through crowdfunding on social. For every post tagging @Beneful with the #DreamDogPark hashtag Beneful will donate $1 (up to $50,000) towards the Beneful Dream Dog Park Projects this year. So, get on social media and start sharing!

If you have a park in the community that needs support, you can encourage them to make a campaign for it on GoFundMe and Beneful might spotlight it and help match the funds raised!

  1. I always entered my dog park on the Dream Dog Park program from Beneful every year. It looks like they are doing it a bit different this year – interesting!

  2. Our dogs love visiting the dog park. It’s great for city dwellers who don’t have a lot of space to play with their pets.

  3. My dog is lonely every since out other pup passed away. Dog parks are a great way for her to play with other dogs. Love the partnership of Beneful & Go Fund Me so we can support our community’s.

  4. I haven’t owned a dog but we have a family dog when I was a kid. It is good to walk a dog in the park, they love it.

  5. We don’t have a dog park locally, but I have heard of dog parks before. They sound like a great place for dogs to get some social time in. These are great tips!

  6. I have never taken my pups to the dog park. We have 3 and I’m sure they’d have a blast at a dog park but other dogs freak me out. We’ve had a few attacks from irresponsible owners so hopefully I can brave it one day.

  7. My dog loves visiting a dog park. She get to run around, get some good exercise, and make some new friends. There’s certainly a lack of dog parks in a lot of communities so I’ll definitely help support this campaign.

  8. I haven’t taken my dogs to the dog park yet. Maybe when it cools off, I will take them out to PLAY. They love to go for car rides so it won’t be hard coaxing them to “go”. I’m thankful that we have a backyard for them to run around in.

  9. My Sister loves her local dog park. It is a great way for dogs to socialize with each other. The dogs always look like they are having a blast.

  10. My best friend has two dogs and they love to have open areas to play. She takes them to the dog park all the time and they have such a blast.
