An experience was provided by Disneyland to help facilitate this post. All opinions and pictures (unless noted) are my own.
Yesterday I had an amazing morning helping to celebrate Disneyland’s 59th Birthday!
In true Disney fashion, it was a magical experience and something I will not soon forget! The morning started off with the world famous Dapper Dans singing some of the most loved Disneyland songs… and ended with a reception fit for a {Disney} Princess!
You could almost feel the energy from the crowd.
I love events that bring out the truest Disneyland fans. We all share a passion for something that is hard to put into words. Being at Disneyland is like walking back into a memory yet at the same time making new ones. Disneyland is constantly evolving and changing and at the same time, it’s as if everything is still the same. That is the Disneyland magic!
There was major celebrating because let’s be honest here…
59 years is pretty epic… and there were lots of fun announcements for what will come during the 60th Yearlong Diamond Celebration in 2015. Starting with the unveiling of the Diamond Celebration logo. Isn’t it beautiful!
The first major announcement came during the end of the celebration.
It was announced that Disney is inviting generations of guests to share their favorite memories through photos taken at the Disneyland Resort.
Readers of the Disney Parks Blog will vote for the top photos and one lucky guest will have a chance to win a trip to the Disneyland Resort for the start of the 60th anniversary celebration in Spring 2015.*
How out of this world amazing would that be?
Here’s how it works… guests are invited to submit photos that represent their memories from the Disneyland Decades – the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000 to the present. Using hashtag #Disneyland60Contest, guests may share their photos via Twitter or Instagram by August 27, 2014. For complete rules, see the post on the Disney Parks Blog.
After the celebration was over we headed into the reception which was located inside the Opera House. Upon arrival we were greeted with beverages and cupcakes and then we were gifted with beautiful cupcakes and an amazing keepsake surprise!
The keepsake was beautifully presented inside this gorgeous blue box! As I opened the box I saw a sparkling crystal diamond to commemorate the coming 60th birthday year, full of surprises to come!
Later in the day, I took a stroll through California Adventure and I remember that it wasn’t too long ago that this wasn’t even here. If I remember correctly it was a parking lot where we used to park when I was a little girl. So much has changed, but so much is still the same. Disneyland is such a special place and I was so honored to help celebrate the 59th birthday!
Expect lots of Disneyland news this coming year on It’s a Lovely Life! as I help celebrate Disneyland’s 60th birthday! The fun will kick off in the spring of 2015!
I can’t believe that Disneyland has been around for almost 60 years. It blows my mind. I love this photo contest. It’s a great way to involve the fans in such a great moment in Disney history.
I love this photo contest! To think, all I need to do is bust out a kick butt picture, and I could win a trip to Disneyland!
I love Disneyland. I know it sounds like a commercial, but it really is a magical place. I love this new photo contest. One amazing photo could score me a trip to Disneyland. Awesome.
Oh what fun we just love celebrating at Disneyland. What a great experience for your family to attend the event!
Oh my goodness, what fun. We haven’t been in years and I totally feel a trip coming on. The kids are finally old enough to not need me to carry all day, HA!
That looks like a lot of fun! I love Disneyland and its cool to see that its still going strong after 60 years!
Disney is such a strong entertainment company with so much to offer families. I don’t foresee it ever loosing steam.
I agree Jennifer, they seem to be so on top of technology and whats popular. The magic is what we see, but I can only imagine the work involved. What a company!!!
Awww what a fun celebration and Disney does it right and in big style..love it. We just went to Disney World here in Orlando and always a party and surprise to be found.
I have only been to Disney World not Disneyland. Looks like a great time, 60 years wow!
I went to Disney Land once with my grandmother on a church trip. It was my first time doing ANYTHING out of state, so it was very exciting! That’s a wonderful memory.

I am a Disney World girl. I liked Disneyland when I went, but I remember thinking it was like DW, but not as good.

Disney sure knows how to throw a party! I was just there and miss it already!
What a beautiful celebration, and the keepsake and cookies are gorgeous. WOW I can’t believe it will be 60 years.
Wow, I guess this really was magical to say the least! I still have not been to Disney!!
I have never taken all my kids to Disney, can you believe it? We need to plan our own magical trip!
What a cool celebration! I love Disney and hope we can afford to bring the kids there one day!
As usual, Disneyland is the best. That is neat that they are celebrating with diamonds.
I am dying to see DisneyLand as I have only been to Disney World in Orlando. 🙁
I’ve never been to Disneyland but I would love to go! We just went to Disney World this spring and had a ball!
