Now that the Halloween season is upon us, it’s time to take a look on over to the spookier side of things! One of our first Halloween excursions this year is always one of our first stops and always one of our favorite stops: Dark Harbor at the Queen Mary in Long Beach California! We had a great time at the media preview!

Dark Harbor is the Queen Mary’s annual Halloween haunt featuring 6 haunted mazes, a 4D theater experience, hundreds of monsters, immersive attractions, live staged entertainment, resident DJ’s, themed bars, private creepy cabanas, concession style grub along with a V.I.P. RIP lounge experience.

From Maddie:

My dad and I have made it a tradition! Every year we make our way up to Long Beach to experience all that Dark Harbor has to offer. We always have the absolute best time at Dark Harbor, and it’s because the team at the Queen Mary puts a great amount of effort into making it an incredibly enjoyable time for those of us who love to get scared!

What we, and I think most others, enjoy most about Dark Harbor are the mazes:

In 2017, Dark Harbor is pleased to unveil Feast, which takes you on a journey through the depths of The Queen Mary to learn how the newest member of our monster family, Chef, met his untimely end. Intrepid returns with a sizzling trip through time back to the ship’s origins in Scotland and beyond as The Iron Master searches for freaks and monsters to join Dark Harbor. There are a total of seven ultra long mazes including Lullaby, Soulmate, Deadrise, B340 and Circus. They will leave you screaming for more!

Our favorite mazes this time around would have to be the all-new maze “Feast”!

It is a deliciously terrifying time with Chef, who also spends some time roaming outside his maze… which proves that you’re never truly safe! A longtime favorite for me is undoubtedly “Circus”. Circus has been part of the Dark Harbor lineup for several years now, and it is always a great time! Circus revolves around exactly what the name suggests: a haunted circus, which is one of my favorite tropes!

Another major reason to head on over to Dark Harbor is the other forms of entertainment. It’s always fun to jump on the “Neverland Ranch Swings”. You’ll get a bird’s eye view of the entire space. We absolutely love to look out over Long Beach at night, as well as ride the ride!

“SideShow” is also a great time if you enjoy miraculous feats that seemingly no one could pull off!

I won’t be giving any spoilers for the “4-D Theatre Maze Experience – PANIC”, but I can assure you that it is most definitely a must-see!

A little-known aspect of visiting Dark Harbor is the slider shows. There are a couple of haunted attractions that offer these shows, but we think that Dark Harbor is definitely in the top for dedication. These monsters will train year-round to be able to perform these sliding tricks, and you’ll be able to experience their performances nightly along Slider Alley.

You definitely don’t want to miss the constant stage (two stages) and roaming performances happening constantly at Dark Harbor.

You can check out everything from freakshow performances to hula-hoop shows. We spend a bit of time every night we go just watching the shows! If you want a couple of minutes to rest in between mazes, we also definitely recommend heading on over to one of the many stages at Dark Harbor! You are guaranteed to be entertained, and who knows, you might even get pulled up on stage like I did one year! The fun never stops!

The terror begins September 28 and runs for 23 haunted evenings through November 1. Ticket prices start at just $20 online, with additional Fast Fright, VIP, and haunting hotel packages available.

If you are looking for a really scary time you have to get over to Queen Mary Dark Harbor!

What scares you the most?
