Hi everyone! It’s Maddie! I’m back today to tell you all about another one of my favorite Halloween activities, Dark Harbor at The Queen Mary. My dad and I were invited to their opening night media preview and I have so much to share! We had a fantastic time going through all the mazes, so I can tell you firsthand about all the wonderfully spooky experiences!
The Queen Mary is a retired (and supposedly haunted) ocean liner moored in Long Beach. Since 1995, the Queen Mary has put on a fantastic Halloween event, now known as Dark Harbor.
Home to over 200 terrifying monsters and led by The Captain and his army of the undead, Dark Harbor features spine-chilling fright at every turn.
Dark Harbor is home to six terrifying mazes that are sure to make you scared to turn off the lights when you get home!
ALL NEW! INTREPID
Do you dare go back to where it all began? Meet the mastermind, the creator and now the protector of the Queen Mary. The Iron Master has returned to reclaim the precious vessel he built, fiercely guarding it from the antics of the freaks and ghouls. Follow his maddening journey… if you dare step aboard.
INTREPID is all new this year at Dark Harbor, and it’s a fantastic addition!
CIRCUS BIG TOP TERROR
Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and experience the world’s most horrifying circus! Face your greatest fears as you wander through a terrifying tent of terror. Disorienting illusions, maniacal magic acts, and a cadre of sideshow freaks are certain to shock, stun, and startle even the bravest of souls.
CIRCUS is hands down one of my favorite mazes ever! It’s always my first stop at Dark Harbor, and I’ve never seen one like it! With many interactive experiences, this is not one to miss!
DEADRISE THE DEPTHS OF DARKNESS
Deadrise is a WWII escort ship that helped guide The Grey Ghost through enemy-infested waters. After a fatal crash during one of their dangerous voyages, Deadrise sank to the bottom and has been resting in her watery grave in the depths of the sea ever since. The wreckage of Deadrise has once again been called into service by the star of Dark Harbor, The Captain, to escort him and his armada of ghosts and monsters into a battle against the living to reclaim Dark Harbor.
I love DEADRISE! Walking through, you really feel as if you’re in a sunken ship.
LULLABY HUSH HUSH DON’T CRY
Ring around the rosy, a pocket full of nightmares. The new Lullaby maze takes the visitor on a spine-tingling trip through the story of little Scary Mary. Gone, but certainly not forgotten, Mary is looking for playmates to join her on the other side of hell. Will you succumb to the youngster’s pranks and tricks, or will you escape with your soul intact?
LULLABY actually takes place inside the Queen Mary. It’s centered around the pool, where people have actually died. As you can imagine, this makes for an incredibly spooky atmosphere.
SOULMATE TIL DEATH DO US PART
Gale has been haunting Dark Harbor looking for a soul mate since her mysterious disappearance. A meandering maze of mystery, Soulmate is where Graceful Gale lures potential suitors with her charm. Beware of her minions, whose job it is to chop up her suitors and reassemble them into the perfect man. Once you’ve been smitten by Graceful Gale, there is no escaping…even after death!
SOULMATE also takes place inside the Queen Mary. It is beautifully done, and definitely and experience you don’t want to miss!
B340 A DESCENT INTO INSANITY
What would drive a man to madness and murder? That’s the question B340 attempts to answer as we take a schizophrenic sojourn into the psychotic mind of Samuel the Savage. Tight spaces, darkness mixed with flashing lights, and pulse-pounding noises would drive anyone to the brink of insanity. Beware the wrath of violence of Samuel the Savage and be careful not to lose your head or your mind!
B340 takes place inside the Queen Mary, and is centered around room B340 and Samuel the Savage. Have fun maneuvering your way out of this one!
In addition to the mazes, Dark Harbor also offers several experiences, such as an awe-inspiring sideshow (Last year I was pulled up from the audience to staple someone!), a super-fun paintball gallery, a 4-d experience, and a tasting room!
If you’re feeling up to being extra scared, you can rent a private creepy cabana complete with exclusive experiences starting at $99 a night!
Dark Harbor runs on select nights from September 29-October 31. Tickets start at $20.
Lines tend to fill up quickly, so I’d definitely recommend the VIP Pass ($99 a night, ages 21 and up), or the Fast Fright Pass.
Dark Harbor also offers fantastic overnight packages at various prices that include a night on the ship! We’ve spent the night on the ship for this event once before, and we’re planning on doing it again next year! Plus, with all the creepy concoctions the Dark Harbor chefs have cooked up, ao you definitely won’t be hungry before calling it a night!
Here is a video of our fun at Dark Harbor:
