This is our 17th Christmas together… I can’t believe that! It seems longer, but at the same time nowhere close to 17 years! Over these years Pete and I have created some family traditions, including our Christmas Tree tradition. Thank you to International Delight for sponsoring this post. All opinions are mine..
I love Christmas parades and tree lighting ceremonies.
Really I love everything about Christmas, but if I had to pick a couple moments that kick off the season that I totally love, it would be those two things. There is just something about seeing everyone all excited for a parade (and to see Santa) and the moment when the tree lights up with Christmas joy!
That is why we do our own little tree lighting ceremony each night.
Emmy’s job is to actually turn the tree on… while I make myself a Nog Latte!
This is another one of my non-recipes. I just take half freshly brewed coffee and half International Delight Vanilla Nog that I warm up in the microwave for a minute. Top with fresh whipped cream and stir with a cinnamon stick… and enjoy!
Because it’s later at night I use decaf coffee, instead of my usual half-caff because I really don’t want to be up all night! But it would be perfect as a morning drink too!
Emmy spends this special time rearranging the ornaments while I sip my latte.
We talk about so many things during this time of night. From planning our Christmas Eve party to ways we can help others and just how our day was. She says some pretty funny things and each night I remind myself to write them down later… and each night I forget, but that’s okay because I am also enjoying the moment and my heart is all filled up with love after these talks.
Most nights Pete and my older girls join in. And some nights we even rock the holiday music and dance through the kitchen and into the family room. Emmy and I love that time, the cats not so much!
I’m loving my Nog Lattes so much that I’m planning to add them to my Christmas Eve party! I’m going to keep the Nog warm in the slow cooker and then have some fresh brewed coffee standing by!

Holy cow! That nog latte looks so good! Im literally craving one now. thanks! 😉
You daughter is absolutely gorgeous! I think we need to start a tradition like this. That drink look SO good.
Our tradition is playing Christmas music while we decorate the tree and then making sure we take the time to enjoy the lights every single night.
I have to admit, I like your part of the tradition. Love me some egg nog.
Yum, we’re going to have to try some Nog lattes too. I’d love to add that to our list of family traditions.
You have a beautiful and gorgeous daughter. I am sure she is having a great time during this holiday season.
Nog’Lattes!! I will have to try these this christmas with my family. They look so yummy!
The egg nog looks so delicious! My daughters love them.. and we do buy this year after year!
I love holiday traditions with the family. We always put our Christmas tree up and listen to Christmas cds while doing it. International Delight Nog I am going to have to pick up when I go to the store. This Nog Latte sounds delicious and I love the idea of having it at the Christmas party too. Thanks for sharing the idea.
Love this. We don’t have any christmas tree traditions but now I’m re-thinking that. Your kids are so beautiful, thanks for sharing your traditions!
I have never tried that egg nog before but I may need to!! I love Christmas traditions, they are so special!!
We usually play Christmas music and drink some sort of hot drink (hot chocolate, cider, etc., fancy coffee for the adults) while decorating the tree. That egg nog latte looks delicious!
We have a number of traditions for Christmas for our family. We always go downtown together to see lights, we get our tree as a family, and we go buy new jammies and ornaments too. And I love egg nog.
Growing up tradition was that we would go to bed and then Santa would decorate the tree. Grandpa would go down in the morning to check that we came. I’m not sure what traditions my husband and I will start for our kids.
Maggie that sounds like an awesome tradition. I can only imagine how fun it was to see your tree decorated by Santa!
I have never had a nog latter, it looks tempting! Your daughter is so pretty!
International Delight is a great way to flavor your coffee. I love the French Vanilla in my hot cocoa. I always put the lights on the tree and the kids do the ornaments.
Tis the season for egg nog. I am so craving for a cup right now.
I have wanted to get some of this since we got International Delight coupons for them. After seeing those pictures, I want one even more. Yummmm
We decorated our Christmas tree on Sunday night. My youngest enjoyed putting the ornaments on the tree. It was adorable. I can’t wait to see his face on Christmas morning.
We don’t have Christmas tree traditions, except the one that we have to have ours up and fully decorated the day after my mom’s birthday. I wouldn’t call it a tradition though. We look at it as the law. LOL. BTW, your daughter is so pretty!!
This looks super yummy! My husband and daughter love Egg Nog and I know they would enjoy this as well. Thanks for sharing!
I started Christmas traditions last year and I’m loving it. My daughter can finally understand what we doing and join in.
We definitely have some great family traditions that we love and enjoy. Thanks for sharing these tips!
I really need to try this. I love me some egg nog! And that red dress is beautiful.
That nog latte sounds delicious! We have a few traditions for Christmas. The kids get to decorate the tree with us and make cookies for Santa. They really get into it.
A nog latte sounds great right about now. I think I will make it a tradition in my house too!
