We are in the final countdown to find those perfect gifts. Today I’m sharing a great way to boost your holiday gift giving thanks to our friends at ScholarShare who are sponsoring this post as part of my Ambassadorship for 2015.
Truth be told I’m still nowhere close to finished shopping for gifts.
I’m focusing so hard on giving presents that are useful, will be well received, and that are life changing. Yes, life changing. For little ones that can be a toy that they really want, or an experience they will never forget… or some extra help for their college savings account.
Now that my two older ones are closer to college than not, I’ve completely changed how I think of college savings. If I could go back and talk to the younger me, I would have started saving even earlier, and I would have encouraged my family to contribute to the girls’ accounts.
With Emmy we started planning much earlier.
This holiday season, ScholarShare wants to help us double the joy by offering an awesome matching promotion.
Beginning on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 at 12:01 a.m. PST through Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. PST, California families who open a new ScholarShare 529 college savings account with $50 can receive a matching initial deposit of $50 from ScholarShare. To be eligible for ScholarShare’s matching promotion, California families will need to:
- Open a new ScholarShare College Savings Plan with an initial deposit of at least $50 – to be contributed and invested at the time the new account is opened.
- Enroll in the automatic contribution
*The matching deposit of $50 will be made to the eligible ScholarShare 529 account on or before 11:59 p.m. PST on June 30, 2016. There is a limit of one matching deposit per new ScholarShare account opened for a new beneficiary. Additional details about the matching promotion, including the complete terms and conditions, can be found at www.ScholarShare.com/
If you haven’t opened a ScholarShare account, now is the time to do it… and encourage your loved ones to contribute for a gift that they will appreciate for the rest of their lives.

Totally agree. I haven’t even really started on my gifts yet! I need to get going!

Wow, love the $50 matching for the holidays! Nothing beats saving for college, especially for a holiday gift!
saving for college is always important and it definitely makes a great Christmas gift. I’m going to tell the my mother in law and parents about this site!
I’m not done with my holiday shopping yet. It’s nice to know about companies that give back.
I am getting close to being done! It feels so good! I need to check out this program & set up accounts for the kids.
What a wonderful thing they are doing! I’m all about simpler and saving this holiday season myself.
We were looking at our son’s math project where they have a million dollars and they have requirements they have to spend it on… one being college. He has to figure out how much it will cost for what he is going into for tuition, room & board, books, even food and cell phone for the entirety and add 10% for inflation (he is 13, so we have 5 years before he will be going) and O.M.G! This sounds like a wonderful deal to help us out with college!
It looks like you are definitely ready for the holidays! ScholarShare is a great program! Thanks for sharing this!
Such a great cause. You are way ahead of me! We haven’t even gotten a tree yet.
Oh, your little one is adorable!! What a great gift idea!
These are great ideas. Thank you for sharing.
