It is a crazy thing to have one kid starting college while still in high school, one starting high school, and one still in early elementary school. You start to see the world and each situation through the eyes of multiple people at different stages of life, including my own!

Pete and I were talking to Maddie about what she needed to be successful in college and we talked about organization, time management and then we moved into the tangible things, like a new laptop.

Pretty quickly after we started our research, we realized that teens and adults too, might be better off with an Acer Aspire R 15 convertible notebook (after we were provided one for review purposes), because it is so much more than just a laptop (which we have found it is pretty awesome for that too).

We have found that the Acer Aspire R 15 convertible notebook is a great laptop for a student headed to college this fall for so many reasons.

It has all the power and features needed for school projects and research assignments, and can then pull double duty as an entertainment hub for relaxing after studies.  It’s long battery life and durable design make it ideal for carrying to classes and back to the dorm if your child is staying in one. Since Maddie will be doing the majority of her work on the road while we travel, this is especially important for us.

Maddie loves how the Aspire R 15 can be used in four different modes – laptop, tent, display (keyboard is face down), and pad (tablet). Having an Aspire R 15 means that she no longer needs to have other devices with her since this one does everything she needs for both school and fun.

Another cool feature is that the audio will automatically reverse channels according to the orientation that it is in. It is able to switch between modes with a patented 360-degree dual-axial hinge  which delivers the flexibility and strength needed to effortlessly convert between the modes.

It is really good looking too with a metal top cover features a hairline-brushed finish and an anti-fingerprint coating keeps oils from fingers from sticking to the display, while a narrow border design delivers maximum viewing area.
