5 things happy successful people do every morning

Mornings used to be a flash of crazy stressful moments and then I started doing these five things every morning and my life has never been better.

1. Start the day with something you enjoy. For me that is coffee. It could be yoga, Facebook, a cup of tea, meditating or just clearing your mind over a glass of water. The important thing is that it is something you enjoy and it starts the day off right

2. Review your life goals. This sounds really complicated, but it’s not. You should be keeping a small description of what you want your life to look like (a basic written paragraph) with you at all times. Keep it in your wallet. Spend 5 minutes writing it and change it whenever you feel the need. It’s a general idea of what your ideal life would look like for you… like if you were to imagine yourself at your happiest. Study that each day to keep you focused.

3. Review your long term goal list. This is related to #2. This is the practical steps you need to take to get to your ideal life. Ask yourself if there are any things on the list that you could accomplish today or any sub-steps you could do that would open you up to being able to get these steps done. Make notes, edits, changes.

4. Review your daily to do list. Ideally you added everything to this list at the end of the day before. I use a pencil for my list and simply change the date at the top for each day. That way the leftovers from the day before are already there and I just add the tasks for the new day to the list. In theory there will be nothing leftover from the day before, but often there is. Somethings can’t be completed until instructions are received from other people, so I’m at the mercy of their reply to get some tasks completed.

5. Straighten up. Your desk, your kitchen and your bedroom. There is something about having a bed that’s been made that starts the day off right. It feels really good to come home to a clean kitchen so I always make sure mine is tidy each morning. I never start working with a messy desk either. If there are a lot of papers I need to have on my desk they have to be in a neat pile… all trash is thrown away and pencils and pens are in their holders before I start working too.

What do you do to start your day off right?

  • These are great tips! I do start my morning off with coffee, which I love, and blogging which I also love, but maybe I should try the rest of these too! Thank you for sharing these!

  • I always start my day with breakfast and a good workout. My day does not start without a good workout or I’m useless. And antsy.

  • I’ve been working on straightening up every morning before I leave the house and I have to say it really does make me feel better! It’s amazing what leaving a clean home (and coming home to one) can do!

  • Clutter and a messy kitchen can be so depressing. My husband says a bed that has been made up all day is more comfortable than one that is straightened up right before bedtime. Of course, he wants me to make the bed.

  • I like to ease into my morning with coffee and answering emails! I find if I keep a list the night before of what’s ahead of me, it makes for a good day! it is when the computer is having problems, and things start getting too complicated, that a monkey wrench is thrown into my peaceful and calm day!

  • Sounds great to me. I will be trying these. Could use a little more structure in the morning for myself too! Could give them all a try.

  • I do everything on this list except for my LONG TERM goals, I tend to let that be my afternoon thoughts after I completed some of the days to do list.

  • If only we can all put these to our daily routines, then life will be extra valuable. We get to be reminded with our goals and be inspired to accomplish them one day at a time.

  • I must have my morning coffee. Without that, the whole day is a wash. I don’t know that it is healthy, but it sure gets me to going every morning.

  • Tidying up is one of my favorite ways to jump start my day. Having a clean home makes my day seemingly go much smoother. 🙂

  • These are great deals. 8 play a few games on my phone or check Facebook when I get up. It’s my little bit of quite time before my youngest gets up. Then it’s time to make breakfast.

  • I like the first one best. coffee takes me to my happy morning place in an instant.

  • Great tips! And I totally agree with number 5. Before I start with my online tasks, I tidy up my surrounding first.

  • I like to start my day with a shower to help wake up. I make a smoothie most mornings for breakfast and enjoy it in my chair on the deck.

  • Straightening up is something I’m trying to do each morning instead of laying around surfing the news from my phone. I have dreams of getting the kids to clean up after themselves before bed, but that isn’t quite there yet.

  • Nice tips. I totally vote for nos 1 start morning with something I love, my perfect cup of coffee and music. It refreshes my mood so I can plan the day better. I need to start a list for long term goals.

  • A nice cup of tea and some quiet time before anyone wakes up is how I get my day off to a good start. That few minutes of reflection puts the day in perspective for me and helps me get going.

  • I straighten up after a bit of rolling and giving thanks for life, love and another chance to do what I came here to do. Does that count? 🙂
