We love to travel.

That’s not a secret at all… I pretty much tell everyone that. What is a secret is that I have a few tips that I refer back to all the time to maximize our vacations. From saving money to just making our vacations more fun, these tips are a must for travelers like us!

Tip #1- Make sure you choose vacation spots that have something for everyone you are traveling with. We vacation as a family with children of all ages (literally) and this is my biggest focus.

With a 15, 12 and 5 year old we have a range of interests. As I’m researching a new place to travel to I’m always thinking about if everyone will have fun there! I don’t leave Pete and I off the list either… we have to enjoy the place too! Keeping this all in front of my mind has allowed me to pretty much guarantee that a good time will be had by all and it’s also lead to us finding some new things to do as a family that we wouldn’t have done before if I hadn’t researched it in the same manner.

Tip #2- Look for specials that will save you money or provide you other added benefits. Join every reward program and add yourself to email newsletters to be kept in the loop with your favorite travel companies.

Country Inns & Suites has a special this spring called Double the Fun, that is exactly what I am looking for when it comes to stretching my travel budget. If you are a member of one of the rewards program for the participating airlines below, and you stay at Country Inns & Suites, you can receive double the airline rewards for your stay.

With 470 locations, Country Inns & Suites is a convenient option no matter where your travels take you. To take advantage of the offer, simply provide your airline loyalty membership detail at check-in for one of the following airlines and you will earn double the rewards that you normally would earn.

  • Southwest Airlines – Earn Double Rapid Rewards Points March 1st through May 31, 2015
  • American Airlines – Earn Double Miles April 15 through June 30, 2015
  • United Airlines – Earn Double Miles April 15 through June 30, 2015
  • Air Canada – Earn Double Miles April 15 through June 30, 2015

Country Inns & Suites offers perfect hotel accommodations whether you’re traveling with family or for business. They have comfortable, spacious rooms with a dedicated work area and a business center. Even on trips when I bring my family. Pete and I still have to work, so having the dedicated work area and business center is a must and saves us time and money by not having to go off the property. Plus having tons of amenities makes The Rest Comes Easy!

Tip #3- Consider traveling off season.

We make a point of avoiding the busy season whenever we are on vacation. Not only are rates a lot more affordable, but there are less crowds so you can get more things done with less waiting. The only drawback to this is that some attractions can be closed during the off season, (like pools and such) so be sure to research that if it’s important to you. Anything that has ever been closed has been small in comparison to the benefits of off season travels.

Country Inns & Suites has over 470 locations worldwide that provide a caring, consistent and comfortable experience, delivered with a touch of home. Learn more about Country Inns & Suites or Book Now.

  • I’ve never stayed at one of their locations, but they sound lovely. I know having some comforts of home and such nice accommodations would make it a lovely trip for the whole family.

  • We could use another getaway soon. It’s been crazy with all of the kids’ schedules and work. I would love to visit a Comfort Inn so that we can reconnect and relax.

  • These are great tips. We live just north of the Gulf of Mexico Beaches so the off season is our favorite. You can be at the beach down here until November most years. The people that travel from afar always come during the Summer when everything is so busy and the weather is HOT! Us locals love it ALL YEAR!

  • I have not stayed at a Country Inns & Suites. I have heard great reviews of it. These are great tips for getting the most out of your vacation.

  • I have not stayed in any Country Inns unfortunately since I have not traveled in close to two years. I don’t miss it as much as I probably should because when I did travel it was every two months back and forth across the country to visit my husband. It was crazy times back then.

  • Travelling in the off seasons saves so much money! Plus, it can be a lot of fun. Cottaging, for example, is a great time in the middle of winter. I love chilly nights, snuggled up infront of a fire…or ice fishing and things like that.
Not exactly a hotel stay 😛

  • I love traveling off season too! I think the best deals can be had when one travels against the popular crowds.

  • We love, love, love to travel! I think taking kids to see new places is awesome! We’re heading out on our 1st cruise over the summer. So excited!
    Really great travel tips!

  • I haven’t stayed at a Country Inns & Suites but I think I will on my next trip. It looks like an amazing hotel.

  • Travel is my second name!I traveled quite a bit during my single days (Egypt, Greece, Spain, England, South America, Central America, the Islands, you name it!) and glad I did, as my hubby doesn’t liek flying! Country Inn & Suites is excellent and the breakfast, out of this world!

  • Great tips! We are getting ready to go on vacation in a few weeks, for nine days! I will definitively keep these tips in mind! Thank you for sharing

  • People ask me all the time how I can afford to travel so frequently. It’s because I follow your second tip … I am constantly looking for bargains and take advantage of special deals.

  • I love the double the fun feature! We try to travel off season as well whenever possible. It sometimes means the kids missing more school than we’d like but overall it makes for a much more enjoyable trip.

  • I don’t believe I have ever stayed at a Country Inn and Suites but I am taking a big road trip this summer and will definitely look into staying with them!! Thanks for the great review!!

  • Traveling in the off season can definitely help you save some money and beat some crowds! Thanks for sharing these tips.
