We usually have one family game night a week, so far this week we’ve had three! All of the kids have wanted to play The Game Of Life everyday after school… and since it was my favorite game growing up I’m pretty excited about this and that I have this sponsored post to share with you all!
When I was growing up we had a fun group of neighborhood kids to play with.
We had dance competitions, rode our bikes to the local park and played board games all the time. To make our game time more often we even decided to dig a moat to each others houses so that we could get together quicker and easier. Never mind that we lived just a few houses down from each other on a closed cul-de-sac. We took our “board game playing selves” very seriously and we wanted to increase our game times anyway we could. After a few days spent digging holes in all of our backyards we scratched that idea… but the games still lived on! The Game Of Life was one of, if not the favorite game of ours!
Since 1960, The GAME OF LIFE has allowed kids to dream about what their life would be like as a grown-up, including their career, college, and marriage. We loved that it felt like we really were living a grown up life. We got to pick a career, get married and have children. It was fun!
Hasbro recently conducted an online survey in partnership with Wakefield Research of 400 kids (administered via parents) to shed light on several exciting and interesting professional goals of today’s generation of kids. Kids were asked about the “modern” and “traditional” jobs that they would like to have and their top picks will be featured as Career Cards in the newest version of THE GAME OF LIFE game.
I didn’t think it was possible, but my favorite game has gotten even better, just in time for my own children to enjoy it!
The best part of this version of The Game Of Life are the careers that were just added…
Singer, Secret Agent, Veterinarian, Teacher, Doctor, Professional Athlete, Scientist, Fashion Designer, Lawyer, Inventor, Chef, Race Car Driver, Dancer, Police Officer, Firefighter and the top pick, Video Game Designer. The top dream job as voted on by kids is video game designer. You can see my girls picks above in the photo.
I love that this game opened up all sorts of conversations with my girls.
We talked about how the higher income careers were ones where a college degree was needed… and that they could do any of these with some hard work!
Then it started to get silly… the little one started cracking up because she had so many children that she had to have two cars to fit them all in… and she was letting the newest one (assumed to be a newborn drive the car)!
And then we got to the whole retirement conversation… at the end of the game (when you chose to stop) everyone “retires” and the one with the most money wins. I think my oldest really started to understand at that point why retirement savings is so important!
I can’t wait till the girls all get home from school today so we can play again!

Do you have family game night too?
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hasbro THE GAME OF LIFE.
I remember when that game first came out–yes my parents bought it and inbetween Monopoly and Scrabble we played it quite often! No kids to share it with but it does bring back fond memories!
I loved playing Life as a kid.
I used to like playing this game when i was younger.. now we tried to play it with the kids, and they say we can play it online. lol
LIFE is still one of my all time favorite games. It helped me get to thinking of what I wanted to be when I grew up 🙂
I love when games can double as an important lesson for life in general. And how cool that you can now be a secret agent!
I loved Life when I was little. I can’t wait for my kids to get older to start playing it with them plus other games. Love game nights. Such a great family activity.
This was my favorite game when I was a child.
This is one of my fave games as a kid 🙂 It was easy to play and I loved the spinner! 🙂 Thanks for sharing the post, I love the photos.
I bet my son will enjoy playing this game, too. 🙂
I loved building my little peg family when I was little. That game was so fun, but I can’t wait to play the updated version. Is it the weekend yet?
My 4th graders play Life all the time!!!
The modern updates are really great to see. I didn’t think about it before, but I guess it was due for some changes. I have always loved that game though!
What a fun time! I love the game of Life. Always a blast to play.
We played the old version of Life a lot when I was a kid and so did my boys. It has changed a lot!
Lovely family photos! I remember playing this when I was a kid. 🙂
Thanks, we need a new family game and we were just talking about what my son wants to be when he grows up – perfect timing! I had forgotten about this game to be honest (it’s been around since 1960??) I’m going to keep my eye out for it here. Thanks again!
Wow. I grew up with this game. So fun
We used to have a game night… we really have to bring it back 🙂
That game does look like a lot of fun. Your kids seem to have enjoyed it.
I loved playing the game of life growing up! What a fun way to get the girls to think about their futures:)
I have played a ton of board games but never LIFE. I really need to get caught up on things over here, it looks fun!
I always loved that game! You all look like you had fun! I think I will have to crack that game out and play it with my kids!
I love the Life game and so do my sons. We always had fun playing it. I love the idea of the new Life game having now career choices in it so we are going to have to get this one. Thanks so much for sharing.
We haven’t played that in a long time. I’m going to pick one up so we can play. I think this is a great way for siblings to hang out together and stay close. My kids are 18-21 years old (not so much kids, right? 🙂 ) and they still play board games. They were just playing monopoly last night and that brought a smile to my face. Their faces weren’t glued to their phones :).
Thanks for sharing this.
My fam used to play a lot of games when we were kids and it’s a great bonding time for us.
I should tell this to hubby and play this game with the kids.
Thanks for sharing!
We play Life quite a bit. My daughter loves to play games.
We have this game and love it! My daughter is 5 and still a bit young but we help her through and we all have a ton of fun.
My son and I play Life every Saturday and we love it!
This looks like a blast. I can’t wait until my toddlers are older and we can play games like this.
We have family game nite. We all love playing games. I haven’t played the game of Life in forever though!
This game was a favorite of mine growing up! It really is nice to see that it is still popular among kids!

My daughter poked at me one time showing me that board game in Toy Kingdom. I think it’s fun and I’d love to play the game with my girls too.
I love this game! We just bought it this year before the kid’s chosen careers. I may have to buy this one too!! I used to play it with neighbors too and now my girls do the same. Such a fun game for the whole family!
I love the idea of family game night! I think its really important to have that family bonding time, whether its barbecue time, movie time, back yard fun time or game night. Its important.
