We usually have one family game night a week, so far this week we’ve had three! All of the kids have wanted to play The Game Of Life everyday after school… and since it was my favorite game growing up I’m pretty excited about this and that I have this sponsored post to share with you all!

new game of life

When I was growing up we had a fun group of neighborhood kids to play with.

We had dance competitions, rode our bikes to the local park and played board games all the time. To make our game time more often we even decided to dig a moat to each others houses so that we could get together quicker and easier. Never mind that we lived just a few houses down from each other on a closed cul-de-sac. We took our “board game playing selves” very seriously and we wanted to increase our game times anyway we could. After a few days spent digging holes in all of our backyards we scratched that idea… but the games still lived on! The Game Of Life was one of, if not the favorite game of ours!

Since 1960, The GAME OF LIFE has allowed kids to dream about what their life would be like as a grown-up, including their career, college, and marriage. We loved that it felt like we really were living a grown up life. We got to pick a career, get married and have children. It was fun!

Hasbro recently conducted an online survey in partnership with Wakefield Research of 400 kids (administered via parents) to shed light on several exciting and interesting professional goals of today’s generation of kids.  Kids were asked about the “modern” and “traditional” jobs that they would like to have and their top picks will be featured as Career Cards in the newest version of THE GAME OF LIFE game.

I didn’t think it was possible, but my favorite game has gotten even better, just in time for my own children to enjoy it!

The best part of this version of The Game Of Life are the careers that were just added…

Singer, Secret Agent, Veterinarian, Teacher, Doctor, Professional Athlete, Scientist, Fashion Designer, Lawyer, Inventor, Chef, Race Car Driver, Dancer, Police Officer, Firefighter and the top pick, Video Game Designer.  The top dream job as voted on by kids is video game designer. You can see my girls picks above in the photo.

I love that this game opened up all sorts of conversations with my girls.

We talked about how the higher income careers were ones where a college degree was needed… and that they could do any of these with some hard work!

Then it started to get silly… the little one started cracking up because she had so many children that she had to have two cars to fit them all in… and she was letting the newest one (assumed to be a newborn drive the car)!

And then we got to the whole retirement conversation… at the end of the game (when you chose to stop) everyone “retires” and the one with the most money wins. I think my oldest really started to understand at that point why retirement savings is so important!

I can’t wait till the girls all get home from school today so we can play again!
