I’ve created this post as part of a collaboration with Albertsons Safeway grocery stores, in partnership with Nestlé Purina to share their fun new promotion called Hairy ‘N Scary, which is a pet photo contest the month of October. All opinions are mine and I take full credit for my dog’s crazy Halloween costume. I take that back, that was all Emmy’s doing!

A couple days ago Emmy jumped out of bed and asked for me to do an impromptu photo shop for her and Rufus. These two LOVE each other and can play for hours, even though he is pushing 13 years old in a couple months. He still has the energy of a puppy most days… and she is, well a five year old! So… let’s just say they both wear each other out!
When we were at Albertsons a couple days ago we saw this sign and Emmy immediately had an idea!
She wanted Rufus to dress up with her this year and she even had the perfect costume picked out! Rufus was going to be a luau dog. Complete with a sun hat and lei! I think she was waiting for this day for years. Pete and I were not sure what Rufus was going to think about the whole thing… but I think he actually liked it!
We are even going to share a photo of Luau Rufus as part of the Hairy ‘N Scary contest happening at Albertsons Safeway stores!
You can too! Albertsons Safeway shoppers can post pictures of their pet(s) in costume, via Facebook and Twitter, for a chance to win some really cool prizes!
One winner will be selected and will receive a $250 donation in their name, to their local, non-profit, accredited animal shelter or rescue to assist with housing, feeding, caring for, and finding families for, thousands of dogs, cats and other lovable creatures!
They will also recieve ten (10) bags of Purina ONE® (16.5lb.) and ten (10) bags of Purina® Cat Chow® (16 lb.). Pretty cool right?

Rescue pets are some of the best around. We welcomed our sweet little kitten last year into our family as a rescue and the organization that she came from would totally benefit from winning the $250. Plus this is a really fun way to have some fun as a family. I know Emmy and Ruffus really enjoyed getting dressed up!
