We had so much fun last weekend.

On Saturday, Pete and I started the weekend by joining a bunch of like-minded foodies and fitness fans in San Diego for the John Hancock Hosts The Cooking Light & Health Fit Foodie Race Weekend! This is an event unlike any I’ve ever been to. In addition to a 5k and 10K run/walk, there was also the John Hancock Vitality Village, the ultimate post-race experience that rewards a job well done and celebrates participants’ hard work through delicious and healthy experiences.

We would have normally jumped at the chance to participate, but we had to go straight to another commitment. So, we cheered on the runners and walkers, and we enjoyed the John Hancock Vitality Village for the morning. Pete has really been getting into running more and I love walks, especially by the water, so we have decided we have to do it next year. As we walked through the Vitality Village, we were so pumped up by the energy of everyone at the event. There were so many people there, and it really inspired us to continue to eat healthy food and get moving! Even though we didn’t run in the race, we still managed to walk over 5 miles! There were so many things happening with cooking demonstrations and foods to sample that the morning flew by!

I love how at the three-day John Hancock Hosts The Cooking Light & Health Fit Foodie Race Weekend, calories are both burned and earned because fitness without good nutrition is not nearly as impactful on your health as when you combine the two. This is something that Pete and I talk about all the time and our daughters have grown up knowing. They go hand in hand for good health. It is not enough to exercise alone. Good nutrition is just as important and really easy to accomplish with the right knowledge and tools.

That’s why John Hancock has created John Hancock life insurance with Vitality, which rewards people for the healthy choices they make…. like exercising, seeing the doctor, and now, purchasing healthy foods at the grocery store. With John Hancock Vitality and the new HealthyFood program, not only can you save up to $600 a year on the nutritious foods you buy, but you can also significantly save on your life insurance premium and earn valuable rewards and everyday savings for those healthy food purchases.

This is such a revolutionary idea and one that just makes sense. We really enjoyed learning more about John Hancock life insurance with Vitality while we watched everyone cross the finish line and pick up their medals! It was so nice seeing the joy and sense of accomplishment they were feeling!
