This is me and my new car face showing how excited I was to be looking at new cars!

It seems like whenever we buy a new car it’s during some other big moment in our life. My favorite new car purchase was when the little one joined our family! We had been wanting to add to our family for years, and I didn’t want to jinx it from happening by buying a new, bigger car, so I stayed with our car that could only fit the 4 of us till Pete made me buy a new one. I’m totally superstitious like that.

Then one Fall day Pete told me we had to stop waiting. Regardless if we had another baby or not, we needed to buy me a new car.

I told him that I really didn’t want to and that I wanted to wait and see if we should get a bigger car that could seat more people, or just stick with a smaller SUV. He had had enough of my stalling and decided to take care of it himself.

Thank goodness he did.

He decided to go out and buy the new car. I loved my new car and I was so glad that he went with a car big enough to fit 6 or 7 people (just in case our family did get bigger). A couple months passed and we found out that we were going to grow our family… but as with most adoptions the timing was a little different than when you give birth yourself and have 9 months to plan.

We ended up having less than a month from the time we found out we were going to be parents again and when my little one was born!

Had I waited any longer to get our new car there is no way we would have been able to get all the adoption stuff done and gone new car shopping so that we would have a car that could fit us all… at least not without a ton of added stress.

Pete reminds me all the time that my superstitious ways were totally wrong on this one. Buying the car was the lucky trick for us to complete our family. I guess “if you have enough room in your car you will get enough children to fill it”! Or at least that’s what I tell myself!

What would you do with the extra money you would have if your car loan was paid off?
