The girls and I LOVE Disney’s Zootopia, and we are so excited for it to be released on Blu-ray™, Digital HD & Disney Movies Anywhere June 7! We enjoy all the great characters like Judy Hopps and the inspirational message that hard work pays off and to never give up on your dreams! I’m partnering with Disney and CafeMom for this sponsored post, to share how I remind my girls to follow their dreams and believe in themselves!
One of the most important jobs that I have as a mom is to instill in my girls that they can do anything… as long as they are willing to work hard.
I really think that this relates to so many aspects of life, not just professionally for them in the future, but also in friendships and a happy family life in general. The ups and downs of life can sometimes be discouraging, especially to little ones, so I am always trying to remind them that hard work and determination will always lead them to the places that they want to go. Their dreams are always obtainable.
I also look for examples in stories, and real life where people persevere and live the life that they really want. Even stories from my own life are retold often to keep them motivated, but the best examples come to them from movies and books. This really holds true for Emmy, but the big girls too. As we were watching Zootopia together, I remember leaning over to them and whispering how awesome Judy Hopps was and how strong she was being. No matter who or what tried to stop her, she kept on going, and kept working her tail off! Pun totally intended!
If you are not familiar with Zootopia, here is a little recap for you. No spoilers, I promise!
Brought to you by the creators of FROZEN and BIG HERO 6 (Emmy and Maddie’s all-time favorite movies), Walt Disney Animation Studios brings us a comedy-adventure set in the modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia. Determined to prove herself, Officer Judy Hopps, the first bunny on Zootopia’s police force, jumps at the chance to crack her first case – even if it means partnering with scam-artist fox Nick Wilde to solve the mystery.
Emmy even noticed that Judy believed in herself and never stopped following her dreams to become the first bunny cop.
I love having inspirational stories like Zootopia for them to watch, and we always follow up after and talk about the meanings within the stories. Plus, this is a really good movie for adults too, because the humor is there for both kids and parents. I even found it inspirational as a grown up!
We also have “dream sessions” where we talk about their dreams and what actual steps they can take to accomplish them. We write out a plan of what they need to do and then break those down even further. This shows them that there will be a lot of hard work involved, but that if they keep working through it all, they can make that dream come true!
Imagine our surprise when we saw Judy and Nick from Zootopia this past week….the girls all wanted to have their picture taken with them. I love when the girls are all into the same thing at the same time, especially when it comes to movies. This is even better when they are inspirational ones!
We are definitely going to have one of our famous movie nights when Zootopia comes out on Blu-ray™, Digital HD & Disney Movies Anywhere June 7! You can order your copy here. I can already see the pillows and blankets piled up on the couch while we snack on “bunny” food, aka carrots and other fresh fruits and veggies while Emmy hops around the family room!
We are so looking forward to bringing home this hilarious adventure full of action, heart, and tons of bonus extras that take you deeper into the world of Zootopia. It’s big fun for all shapes and species!
I can’t wait to see Zootopia. I have heard it’s cute and has a great message.
Zootopia is just one movie in a long list of Disney movies that I love for its message. Walt Disney was an innovator, and I think his company has kept that philosophy of shooting for the stars going.
Looks like a great film. My teen is really excited to see it. She cannot wait for it to come out.
Friends and I went together and took our kids to see Zootopia and the kids loved it. The adults loved it too so many cute funny moments.
This is one show I want to take the younger grandkids to see. So far we haven’t done it but school is out soon, so then we can watch it.
My favorite thing about Zootopia – and every Disney movie, really – is that they promote a sense of adventure and the idea that we can do anything if we believe.
I am really looking forward to seeing Zootopia – I think it is always important to try and follow your dreams. x
Zootopia and I love the message it sent to kids! It’s important for them to know that they can do anything they set their minds to!
Zootopia is such a good movie for the kids (and adults too!). Children have big dreams and it is up to us parents to build their confidence and self esteem so that they will be able to achieve those dreams.
Zootopia sounds like a great film and I’m looking forward to seeing this with the girls. Our children can do anything with their hard work and our guidance.
This is such an important lesson to teach our kids. Zootopia sounds like a great film filled with life lessons for the kids.
That would have been so much fun! My girls would have loved this. We saw Zootopia and loved it. I absolutely love the message it sends too. Kids need to watch more movies that are like these.
What a beautiful photo of your girls! My boys loved Zootopia too and I personally love the positive messages it sends out to our children. I absolutely agree that our kids can be anyone and they can do anything!
We’re really excited to see Zootopia! We don’t live by a cinema anymore so we need to wait a bit longer to see movies these days.
We loved the movie Zootopia!! It was a great way to reinforce you can do anything so important with so many things that can work against you.
We definitely plan on watching Zootopia once it is released on disc.
I really like the values you are instilling in your children – I hope all my nieces and nephews are getting the same life lessons!
My 2 year old just loves the characters and he hasn’t even seen the movie yet. He already owns their lunch bag. lol
I allow my kids the freedom to imagine and limit technology. This helps them to actually dream!
Zootopia is a great movie. I will have to pick up a copy to keep at my house for when my friends little ones come for a visit.
Zootiopia is such a cute movie! My boys loved it and I can’t wait for it to come out on DVD
I haven’t had a chance to watch Zootopia yet. I need to watch it. My boys saw it during spring break.
I always praise my daughter for the little things she does. She loves ballet and is always dancing at home. I’m always motivating her to continue and try her best.
I am really looking forward to seeing Zootopia! It sounds like a great movie!
I always tell my son to dream BIG. 🙂 We haven’t seen Zootopia yet, but we’ve seen the trailer and it was hilarious. Bet we’re going to have fun watching it.
I love the idea of dream sessions. I will have to incorporate these with the girls. I want them to know the importance of goal setting and accomplishing their goals. – Yolo
MY kids love both of this movies and would love to see it again. Definitely something that can inspire kids to dream.
I’m so excited for Zootopia!!!! It’s going to be one epic movie. Then again does Disney do anything not totally epic?
My girls have been begging me to let them see this movie. We have to wait until it is out on DVD to watch. As for dreaming BIG that is the message my girls have been getting every day of the their life, especially my teenager.
Love this! It is so important for our kids to hear this from us. When my son is trying something new and he’s having a hard time, I always tell him to keep trying. The pure joy on his face when he finally accomplishes his goal is truly priceless!
I love the message here. It’s so inspiring to tell our children that they can do anything and the sky’s the limit!
I encourage them to follow their dreams by believing in them and supporting them. On a side note, my family and I are looking forward to seeing this movie!
Our entire family loved Zootopia and as a parent I especially loved how many positive messages it shared.
Hearing great reviews about Zootopia!
As for me, we do encourage our kids always so that they would excel beyond their limits.
I still havent seen this. I need to! I love the pic. I know your kids were so excited!!
That is one thing we have instilled in our kids since they were little is to follow their passion and dreams not for money, but for happiness and the pursuit of a career you can be proud of.
