Make Your Home Smarter with Revolv Home Automation Review

Make Your Home Smarter with Revolv Home Automation Review

I was provided a Revolv for my home to facilitate this review.

“Revolv will revolutionize your life.”

I have been really interested in the Revolv Smart Home Automation Solution {this is an Amazon affiliate link} since I read an article about it a couple of months ago. The idea of a fully automated “smart home” really intrigued me. With the advancement of all the wireless technologies such as WiFi and Bluetooth, home automation is much easier than it used to be….no hard wiring required. Because, really… who has time for that? Plus I like being a cool kid!

“This would be the ultimate Father’s Day gift and is something my husband LOVES!”

The only issue is that each manufacturer has their own app, and it can get confusing having 5 different apps to control your home.

That’s why Revolv is such a good idea.

Revolv communicates with all the popular home automation manufacturers and everything is controlled from one well designed app. The base also looks good. I didn’t want something that would look out of place.

Because the Revolve can communicate with all your devices, there are some really great things that can be done with it as a result. Do you want your lights to turn on in your bedroom and your Sonos to start playing your favorite station at the same time?

Revolve can manage all that!

It can also sense when you are getting close to home…. you can program it to turn on the lights, start your AC, and turn on your Sonos, and more.

Since everything is controlled through the Revolv app, you can also control your house from anywhere in the world that you have an internet connection on your phone or tablet. This feature is great when you are on a vacation, but want to keep up the appearance that you are home.

Installation of the Revolv hub was very simple:

Step 1: Take it out of the box
Step 2: Plug it into a power outlet
Step 3: Download the app (currently only iPhones or Ipads….but Android is coming this summer)
Step 4: Follow the step on the App. It uses a series of flashing lights from your iPad/iPhone that setup the hub for you. Really easy, and a great concept

Then, it is just a matter of discovering the different devices you have, and setting up what you want these devices to do.

Here is a video from Revolv that does a great job at showing you how easy the setup process is:

In our case, we currently have 2 Kwikset Wireless deadbolts and also 3 WeMo light switches. It was really simple to setup both of these items.

I can now unlock the Kwikset deadbolts remotely if I want to let someone in my house while I’m gone. The WeMo light switches are setup on the exterior lights of my home and automatically go on at dark and turn off at sunrise. I can also turn on/off these lights from anywhere using the Revolv app.

Revolv works with many different devices. You can see the complete list here.

Personally, I can’t wait to get some Philips Hue bulbs, a Sonos sound system (multiple), a couple of wireless thermostats, and more. The Revolv is a huge step in making our home smart.

I’m so happy that we now have a Revolv in our home!

Revolv positioned itself perfectly for this growing segment and we can’t wait to see even more product partnerships that will make our home even smarter. Due to its 7 radios, and seemingly proactive development team, I believe you’ll start seeing these red devices around a lot more in the future!

Don’t forget Father’s Day next weekend.

This would make an awesome gift. My husband loves it and is constantly checking to see what other products it supports!
