Like most others we are going to be traveling this holiday season.

We will be going to Grandma and Grandpas house and then to the others ones soon after. That’s a lot of time spent in the car… and all while the Little One has a couple weeks off from school. She has been learning {and really enjoying it} so much the past couple months since she started kindergarten, and we want to encourage her to continue to enjoy learning so she has been using apps on the weekends and on vacation.  I remember with my older two we did it “old school” with work books to supplement their school work and apps are so much better!

Because we are such big Disney fans I was really excited when I heard that Disney was launching a new learning brand created for families with children ages 3-8 that aims to engage and enrich children through the power of imagination and creativity.

Unlike many learning aids that rely on memorization and repetitive gameplay, Disney is introducing children to fundamental subject matters through an interconnected system of apps that build upon each other to reinforce learning concepts in playful ways.

The magic of this new app is that it doesn’t seem like it’s a learning tool… it just feels like fun to kids!

Before we headed out on the road we loaded Mickey’s Magical Math World onto the iPad that The Little One uses and let her really test it out.

In each of the five play areas the child is invited to join Mickey and his pals on a fun-filled Space adventure that explores math concepts within a fully immersive playground of magical experiences. Kids can explore, recognize and identify shapes with Mickey’s Rocket Build; Play with numbers and patterns within Minnie’s Robot Playground; Ponder early number concepts with Donald’s Alien Number Line; Explore Counting to 10 and early problem solving with Donald’s Sleepwalking Aliens and experiment with shapes, patterns and sorting skills with Goofy. Because the games build up upon each other my daughter never got bored like she does with other apps. She loved exploring each world and seeing her favorite characters all there!

One of the best features to Disney’s new learning products is the Disney Imagicademy: for Parents!

Disney Imagicademy is an all-new free app that serves as a parent’s ‘go-to’ resource to connect with the Imagicademy community and gather information that can be used to engage with their child in meaningful ways.

The app gives us parents our daily dose of what is possible and answers the question, “What can I do today to help my child grow?’” through daily articles and Imagicademy-inspired activities designed to help spark creativity and encourage imaginative learning. “Disney Imagicademy: Parents” also serves as a portal into children’s Mickey’s Magical Math World, where parents can see their child’s latest creations, provide encouragement with a virtual “high five” and share their accomplishments with family and friends.

I really loved being able to follow along on her process without having to constantly stop her while she was playing. I can also see how being able to get other parents advice and ideas would be a huge help as she gets older and grows along with this program.
