The cards my husband gives me are some of my most cherished possessions.  Thank you to Hallmark for sponsoring this post so I can share how much they mean to me.

After 15 years together there is one thing I know for sure… he loves me.

We always say “I love you”. Maybe 10 times a day. Maybe more. But that’s not how I know he really loves me. It’s in the little things he does everyday and in the words he says when he signs the cards he gives me.

Pete’s not the type that posts on Facebook or even to say out loud how much he cares. It’s just not his style. He’s more open to sharing how he feels in writing a couple times a year on a special card, and I’m totally okay with that.

The gifts he gives me throughout the year are always so thoughtful and I appreciate them, but the real gifts that I look forward to getting from him are the words he says in the cards that come with the gifts. I think he knows it too!

One of the most special cards he ever gave me was for Valentine’s Day 2006.

I had always felt that we were missing someone in our family, that we needed to have another child. Pete, being the practical one when it came to these things just kept thinking “3 in college, 3 weddings, 3 of everything”! I just kept thinking 3 to love.

It took him a little while to warm up to the idea… but when he did he waited till Valentine’s Day to tell me and he wrote it to me in a beautiful Hallmark card!

Then when our little one joined our family he found the perfect card to give me to celebrate our new baby girl. I still get happy tears thinking about it all!

I love my big stack of cards that Pete has given me throughout the years.

I love to go back and read them to remember all the special moments of our life together. From the cards when we were dating to anniversary cards, they are all great… but my favorites are always the Valentine’s day ones. Some years they come with a bouquet of sunflowers and sometimes alone, but I don’t really care. It’s the words I really care about and will cherish forever.

  • Awww that was sweet. I do save cards because I reuse them. I don’t get near as many as I used to. Some of them make the perfect postcard when you cut off the cover. Others make a perfect addition to a paper craft, like a homemade card. I love taking old and turning in to new. Otherwise, the cards just collect too much. I do have a ton of Christmas cards going all the way back to when I was a kid. Each Christmas I go through these and have some good memories. My mother keeps those stored in a box. I have started doing that as well. Perhaps someday kiddo will enjoy going through those boxes of cards and remembering her special memories.

  • You are beautiful couple & the family looks so great together. The pictures are so beautiful as well. The valentine’s day card from Pete looks so great for sure. I love it.

  • I love getting Hallmark cards from my husband. I never throw them away, but I don’t have a specific place to keep them either. So every now and then – when I’m looking for something else – I’ll find one. No matter how much of a hurry I’m in I’ll stop what I’m doing and read it. And it always makes me feel wonderful.

  • Oh yeah, I do. I kept all the cards that my husband gave me and actually brought the ones that he sent me when I was still in the Philippines here in the U.S. And just like you, we say I love you numerous times a day. 🙂

  • This is such a sweet post. I sort of gave up in love and have been kind of being the Valentine’s version of Scrooge but reading this post makes me think I can soften and accept the positive parts of love.

  • I like to save cards too. You can always tell when someone took the time to find the perfect card. The one that says just the right things.

  • I have a ton of special cards from the first 5 years or so that I was dating my sweetie, and now that I think of it – haven’t got one in a loooong time. We do have a tradition though to save every memento from our travels and relationship. We have quite a collection going.

  • I too keep all the cards my husband gives to me. It’s so great to go back and read them later. Priceless memories.

  • Beautiful – and lovely photos of your family – I know my hubby loves me – because he shows it even after 22 years of marriage it’s gotten better and better – Congrats on your love and romance – big hugs 🙂

  • Awe that is so sweet! I love that he shows you how he cares in such a sweet intimate way. And I love the story about adding onto your family! Don’t they just surprise you sometimes! I love this story!

  • Aww what a sweet post. Congrats on 15 years together and I wish you many more!

  • I can not tell you how much I love getting cards like that. Your family is beautiful and congratulations on 15 years
